Btw...why do you need readers? I thought you could read and all after that op?

Re: December 2019: International Army
Very true re the rock bottom. I think he is grateful too. He is lucky that nothing awful happened and it could have so easily. Well no more awful than me considering divorce
I chose to have just my distance vision corrected. The reason for that is because that is the most simple correction to have (nothing is guaranteed) If I wanted to have both reading and distance they would have had to do one eye distance and one reader and apparently the brain learns to deal. My brain is very slow so chose an option that was more likely to give me the best quality of life. It is still not a given that I will not need glasses for distance vision albeit weak ones. Even so this is a fantastic improvement from what I had. I couldnt see to walk down the stairs previously and my glasses were so strong. I am very happy with the result so far and am hoping that as I heal my result stays good. Like I said, nothing is guaranteed with lens replacement and decent vision is a bonus

Re: December 2019: International Army
Congrats Molly on 8 years! :thumbsups: I quit smoking 4 months ago, and still have wicked cravings. I keep telling myself that I need some kind of vice, and in my mind, smoking is less dangerous than drinking. So one day I could kill for a drink, the next day, a smoke. Exhausting to say the least! :buried: Taking things one day at a time, and trying to fast forward the situation when tempted with booze or smokes.
Have a great day all!

Re: December 2019: International Army
Hi Jude! I didn't miss the smokes at all (after the first 3 weeks) for years after I quit - so dunno where this came from.... the nagging Joe would give me would keep me off them for now tho…
Did you have a nice Christmas? I'm back to work and all so it's all back to normal which is truly lovely -- don't miss the drink at all - but sometimes DO miss the bit of fun and frolics that used to go with the drink -- before the fun and frolics became anything BUT fun and frolics.... if you get my drift:congratulatory:Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: December 2019: International Army
mollyka.....prolly nothing on New Year's Eve. There's the sober charity I used to work having their party but I'm so full of cold atm it just doesn't seem doable. Just praying it doesn't hit my chest.
Have to wait until April for a break .........off to a cottage about 100 metres away from Sandsend Beach | Yorkshire | UK Beach Guide.
Not far from Whitby so we can have a look for Dracula.
Just going to enjoy the next few days without a houseful. Jenny, Ads and Buddy the Beagle have gone home to York. They have lots of Viking plaques as well as Roman.
You and Mr JC would be in plaque Heaven. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: December 2019: International Army
HAHA -- I remember coming home from the treatment centre and logging on here for the first time in a month -- sort of scared -- I don't know why now tbh…. but saw you here Benjy and I thought 'god yeah - she's good craic' --- and here we are!!
Morning everyone.. Joe's gone off for a spin on his wee bike (always goes alone for a spin when he hasn't been on for a while) -- so house alone - a bit of cricket - nice big pot of tea... mmmmm smashing!Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: December 2019: International Army
Good morning everyone. Same here Molly, well himself running but home alone and have the pot of tea, pure bliss. Still very windy but hope to get out with the doggies at some stage. It’s the simple things that bring joy.

Okay, okay we'll be the matyrs and nip out to Aldi if anyone wants bread or milk
Had a lovely chat last night with the woman who's a Trustee at the place I volunteered at and we're going on NYE. Came out of the blue and we'll get fed.
We'll be home for the bells. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: December 2019: International Army
Late check in,
Just home from friends, nibbles and drinks, really nice. Have to go out AGAIN tomorrow (into the city). Socialising is exhausting. Will climb the sugarloaf in the afternoon, probably not far from you rustop. Practically bribing the kids to come.
New years sounds lovely JackieClaire. Not planning anything here, except taxi-ing kids, but like Rustop says, better than the alternative.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:
