Update on PlaneBoy… he doesn't answer the phone or even texts anymore - Joe has gone down several times and he's not answering the door - we know he's alive cos he was spotted yesterday buying booze... so he's going down again today - he thinks the lady who cleans for him is there on Tuesday so may be some interaction... I feel very sorry for this woman because he wants her to be way more than a cleaner and she is truly just a good person - but it's like she is trapped... she doesn't say any of this but I'm guessing she can't just walk away - despite the fact that his family have... tough one..

Someone pulled the plug on my energy today. So tired I'm just going to faceplant after JCs supper that she left me.
Protein balls in the fridge for all!
Nighty night ovaries. If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

mollyka...........just had thought. I know your man has a fair bit in the bank...........its not the normal 28 days. Its expensive. its in England about an a couple of hours from Newcastle airport..........but I've seen some great results. I know one that stayed three months.........seeing the difference in her was nothing short of a miracle.............yes its 12 step but in her own words better than 6 feet under.

Have you spoken to him at all ?
I wonder in his case what it would take to frighten him into realising what he's doing ? Maybe nothing.
Ys hasn't enough money to kill himself so still has sober periods when he's broke.
But your friend probably does have the means to just carry on every day ...... God it's so sad..

It is really sad....that sounds brilliant Jackie (I'd love it myself) I think he's nowhere near agreeing or wanting something like that tho...he still says he 'thinks ' he's an alcoholic and he's not like 'those people' in AA...Too right..they are a million times better! Anyway...I'll store the info for the day he does 'get it' if ever.
Yes it's a good thing YS hasn't more money..it sure doesn't help!

A 3 month stint looks good.. although getting him on a plane? Could be Book 2, Boat Boy.
Wonder if any places here take people for longer than the 28 days...
And your poor buddy is in the same place JackieClaire - is he talking to you?
Glad your sticking around Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB). It probably played no part whatsoever, but I fell asleep listening to something like THIS until I gained a bit of confidence..
Night all, I'll be bumping into Rustop if I dont go to bed soon..AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: International Army - 2020 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Morning -- janey mac - Rusters must be nearly ready to go back to bed! Off to work shortly -- as regards longer than the 28 days in Ireland - they all have a secondary treatment... if they are worried about you - feel you haven't got it - or if you are lacking in family support they STRONGLY encourage you to go to one of the secondary places - my roomie went to one and she found it fantastic.. she had been to Aiseiri twice so they reckoned she was a vulnerable one... it's open - so you can go out and about - it's just a home really - with people in the same situation as yourself - people there to advise and talk to -- that sort of thing... personally I would have found 3 months of intensive in-care treatment probably too intense... I felt (sort of) ready to face the world …. but as we know - there are as many differences in this addiction as there are sameness's!!
Laters gaters
oh -- and an update on Planeboy…. apparently he has someone coming to stay with him for a while - she's coming up from down the country - he met her in St Pats and she was suffering from depression... this is the story he gave Joe and R anyway --- he seems to be very clear on the details of all that tho - considering he hardly knows his own name -- very suspicious that he has made her up to get the lads off his case,,,,, mmmmm takes one to know one??Last edited by mollyka; January 8, 2020, 03:58 AM.Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: International Army - 2020 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Morning,
mollyka............its definitely done on a case by case situation and depends on home support. With this woman her family had just thrown up their hands and broken all contact.
IamMary...........I spoke to him briefly yesterday and never heard him so low. Its very worrisome as he's bipolar to start with and pouring the amount of booze he's poured down his throat will affect the medication he takes. I could tell he was in withdrawal and made him promise he'd ring his GP. Its in his hands.
I'll ring him later. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: International Army - 2020 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Morning Army and welcome to my last travel post from Copenhagen! We fly back home tomorrow- 19 hours travel time! Not looking forward to that much although I have to say our flight over was pretty good! We are treating ourselves to a night of luxury in the airport hotel tonight - we have been staying in Airbnbs and while they have mostly been excellent, this one has been dreadful. Up four flights of stairs (not much fun for someone with arthritic hips like mine), really dirty (we had to vacuum when we arrived!!! ) and the so-called bathroom consists of a shower hose beside the toilet 🤢 honestly I’ve seen bigger bathrooms on trains! In fact I haven’t had a shower in the last two days - but we will check into the airport hotel as early as we can this afternoon and they have a sauna and steam room there, so I will spend the afternoon there getting squeaky clean!! Will get back to Sydney on Saturday morning and New Zealand (I moved back there last year) on Sunday in time to be back at work bright and early Monday morning!! (Not!)Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Afternoon everyone. You could be right Molly, very convenient way of getting them off his back. Safe travels back and enjoy your luxurious last night Missey. Did not go back to bed, went for long walk with doggies and just relaxing and catching up with SIL and BIL. Hubby is doing Gaelforce Connemara challenge Mary. There is a 20km, 13km and a 12km.
