A teeny bit stunned. Its tiny with big plans and luckily a bit of money behind it. It'll be exciting to be in at the beginning. The sad thing is this kind of thing should provided by our local council. We pay enough council tax and you wonder where the money goes, because its not on local amenities.

The thing is we've a niece in the throes of anorexia. Luckily she's got a therapist and is doing well. Sit and watch the adverts for a day and wonder why its confusing for a young 'un or anyone to actually know what to put on their plate. We're bombarded day after day by what's supposedly 'good' for us and what's 'bad' for us.
Our children have been brought up with so many choices. My SIL & her husband are mortified they never noticed but like an alcoholism its a clever disease. Unlike alcoholism we can live without alcohol but we tend to die if we don't eat.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Dya know...I had a EUREKA moment there reading your post...yes I did feel good and clean and healthy when I did those intermittent fasts.....BUT....as a young teen i was very close to having an eating disorder...in fact I reckon I did have one..just never had treatment for it....and that used to be the same feeling....bloody hell....you're right!

For anyone interested in overweight issues Big Brother by Lionel Shriver is the best book I've ever read on it. It is fiction and an interesting read but she has such insight, including as JC says above: we have forgotten how to eat.
Glad you're joining us on the WW programme Rusters. It is the only one I would give time to, and I've tried them ALLLLLLLL......It is well researched. They adapt to the latest research but don't knee-jerk react to any latest fad. They've very slowly moved to lower carb after lots of experience-but still it's not mandated as such.

Good for you JC. It will keep the brain ticking over and give you a new outlet. Fabulous.

What's the bet that most of us have had, or come close to having, disordered eating Molly?

Well, I didn't think so at the time but ... not eating all day to maximize the effect of alcohol is pretty dang disordered!!

That alertness and clarity with fasting is pretty much universal, maybe because all food is made up of chemicals that are affecting us one way or the other, some positive, some negative. I don't think that's a problem per se unless like JC's poor niece, an active eating disorder is going on. I hope she recovers quickly.

I remember a girl from the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking areas here that kids are shipped off to every summer) teaching me bulimic techniques, which I played around with for a few years. Then drinking on empty as NS said, another classic!

Poor girl JackieClaire. Yep, same as al, can be so hard to spot. My girls are at a very vulnerable age and we talk often about food and bodies, in terms of health and nutrition, but they still drop casual remarks about being fat (they are not).
Might have a goo at that book Bridge.
Apparently there are more males with eating disorders than ever before.. I blame the phones for everything and this is no exception! well, some of the blame anyway.

Morning! My mum was a small neat little woman whereas we were 3 tall girls..never fat ..any of us ..but she had the unfortunate habit of speaking about other girls..friends we'd bring home for instance as ' lovely little things'...it used to make us feel like elephants.. my eldest sister had chronic anorexia ..the other one had issues and I had quite serious ones in hindsight..I was always copious in my admiration of my daughter.. her personality..her achievements ..her all round everything..she still mentions weight from time to time ...for right or wrong I just poohoo the chat

Off to work lads... we have the Chinese community coming in today - including the Chinese ambassador and the Lord Mayor... probably politicians as well as there is an election on the up and it'll be a photo opportunity - a Chinese art school in the town displaying their wares.... it'll be awful busy -- but should be nice and colourful - they've decorated the jnr area and all and it looks lovely!

That sounds fab, Molls.
In a hurry this morning especially as first ........if I hadn't got cramp in my leg I'd have still been in bed and secondly, Mr JC's got his curry book out and believe me if you tasted one of his curries you'd never get a take out again. We've got to go to the Indian supermarket :yay:
More later but fascinating that Sugarbabe was also an empty stomach drinker............something I can defo relate to.

Late check in! Starving hungry here so just sneaked a Frys Turkish delight in secret. Dinner will be ready in another hour. Fish and loads of Veg although I fancy a big curry.
Been out for a run this morning, it was a lovely morning cold and frosty. Off early tomorrow for a hilly walk in North Wales and then a meal. The Chinese celebration sounds wonderful Molly-Do you have a large Chinese community?

It's still raining! And some of it is coming down on the farms! I've donated to the fire relief funds but I feel useless just sitting here. Going to contact some agencies during the week and see if I can do something more specific. It struck me during the week that I could at least start propagating some vegetation or collect seeds. Not for now, but later on for bush regeneration and people who've lost their gardens. At least that might stop erosion in some areas. I don't have any tradey skills to help with fencing or anything like that.

You know, I remember when one of my bouts of disordered eating began. Someone I was seeing at the time had noticed that I'd put on a few kilos and commented very harshly about it. Said it 'wasn't a turn on' and 'his ex girlfriend had tried that on too'. This guy was, and still is, a registered psychologist. He actually has his own practice as a psychologist people......

Pupper is off to the vet and the vet is hot, so I better start getting ready for her yearly injections.
