Re: International Army February 2020

Well that's the flu stats out of the way. Knew I logged on for something.
Feel for you Molly. At what point do we ever get to give ourselves the thumbs up, nod in satisfaction and get on with our own lives? Heard of another youngster in serious trouble this week. Local kid, friend of my kid. Lovely parents. Nice enough kid too, just a little bugger sometimes.

Big event at work has been taking up my time and of course I've had no help with it but we've just been placed on austerity measures because of loss of income stream via the Coronavirus, so lucky to have a job at all.

Hope Stirly is OK. I'd noticed that she wasn't around.

Thinking of you Brit and Mr Brit.

Sugar cravings are RAMPANT here.

If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning and waves to the world,
Two questions..................what on earth is the Brennan's bread debacle?............and what are austerity measures and why?
I'm not making light of of it.............. in 1997 I had flu that turned nasty ended up with a severe chest infection. I didn't find out I'd had pneumonia until I went to the doctors the following week to get a sick note.

Stirly's slammed at work and will be seen soon.

Sitting here twiddling thumbs waiting for the plasterer. Last stage of the re-vamp has started. Just the ceiling and a bit of painting.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Cross post, Molls.

The plasterer has just texted to say sorry but it'll be tomorrow he's coming.............I shall be banging my head off the wall in a moment then I'm going into town.

Re: International Army February 2020

Morning everyone. Brennan’s bread is an Irish bread JC and during the last big snow we had, about 2 years ago I think, people went mad stocking up on it. Think they were afraid there would be no deliveries. Queuing, feisty cuffs etc, mad! Glad Stirly ok.

Sunny and I am off out on walk and then getting hair done. Catch you all later.

Brennans bread. it's the iconic Irish panic buy item...if it rains/floods/freezes/tax increases/recession/strikes/Christmas day.......buy 25 loaves of brennans bread....then ALL is ok in the world!
I've had flu once..was told if I smoked i may have been serious...and the Corona death rate is not that bad if ALL cases are taken into account....if course it's a bad thing ...no one wants it..and I'll do what it takes to avoid it but........ac h still think it's a bit hysterical stopping the world turning!!!!

We can all hope for the best for everyone on the globe but I don't think this can be brushed off like it is the flu or a cold. I hope none of us end up reporting first-hand experiences - even if not of the disease itself but of the disruption to daily life that the response will entail. It crossed my mind as I was making sure my pantry had a reasonable supply of dry and canned goods that if I were still drinking, I would be trying to surreptitiously purchase and hide LITERS of wine :egad:. I'm so glad for that not to be an issue anymore!

Have you tried an L-glutamine capsule under the tongue to ward off those sugar cravings, Bridget? Like sugar, L-glutamine can very quickly get into a "hungry" brain and quiet it down.

NoSugar...............I doubt anyone here is brushing it off as cold of just the flu. We are taking measures but the main complaint is the media coverage. They are panicking us into things like hoarding. Is it because the first cases came from China. A country generally not to be trusted.
Like I said earlier I had flu...........I could have died. It still puzzles me that just a month after I got sober that while I was still weak with a history of chest infections my son was the one to catch the last epidemic of flu.........it never touched me or his sister or Mr JC.

Thanks for the Brennan bread update.
We all have our foibles.
I have a tendency to buy lots of salt around about the beginning of October just in case our drive gets covered in ice. Its 10 foot long.

How do they know its different from seasonal flu? and so quickly? That's the kind of info I want.

I'd forgotten about the flu I had when the S&H was six months old. The in-laws had just retired and I crawled across the floor to ring them so they come pick him up. I was lucky that time...........no hospital and neither of the kids got it. But I was wiped out.

There'll be all Hell to pay if the DIL doesn't get to Mexico a week on Friday.

Evening,
Good point NoSugar, the idea of not being able to source alcohol would have me freaked more than getting the actual virus!

Whatsapp messages coming in all evening, word is that theres a case in the Mater and cork. Apparently. Husband and son going into 'survival mode' now, this, they say, is a test run for a zombie apocalypse, which, if that ever does happen, make your way here as we are prepared

Thats ridiculous satz123. We clock (24/7 plant), but none of the rest. Good that you're only there on your terms.

Stay safe
