    Re: International Army February 2020

And while I'm at it..............got a message from Sister-in-Law that Pa-in-Law has asked us to turn up for Ma-in-Law's birthday as she was so disappointed no-one bothered at her 90th. Pure fecking fiction. I can tell you now that didn't come from her............she's as bright as button and would have told us straight. I think his mind is going.
We had a cracking night..............on the contrary we were all there. As she was 90..........putting 90 candles on a cake would have been nigh on impossible so I got her one of those singing dancing buggers. After lighting the one candle it kept singing and dancing ....................we ended up in the garage with a hammer and murdering it.

      So there :egad:

Wanna brag............both my kids were labelled gifted and talented at Maths & science at 9 years old................now this was a fecking nightmare. We didn't dare tell anyone because of the likes little Tristans & Tiffanys and we're not show offs. Apart from the fact it amazed me and Mr JC as our interest in either subject is zero. So we reckoned we'd been given the wrong child at the hospital when we left...............and that went on their fecking school record to follow them round until they 18. The S&H scraped through Chemistry & Maths 'A' level.....(exams they take over here at 18).....he did Okay geograghy. Tbh Jenny was a study addict so did well in all of hers. I'll say again we thought one day her real parents would turn up to claim her.
After Uni...............one got a job as a van driver and the other a barmaid. Fair enough they got promoted over the years. The S&H now manages a settee shop ( or should I say soft furnishing shop) and Jenny now teaches.
All we taught them were manners.............pleases and thank yous and how to hold a knife and fork.

Its the Oscars tonight...............there's a great quote from Sir Ian McKellen............"acting is easy its just pretending to be someone else for a few hours" But people will turn up in droves for back-slapping and clapping..

We give validation to people every day whether they deserve it or not.

      I thnk that was rant.:eek-new:
      That was a GOOD rant

And while we are on the subject of RANTS..... ANOTHER pet hate of mine --- and it IS recent... no one has ANY interest in anything anyone else is saying -- just what they say themselves - you can see them planning to overtalk you with their stories that will always trump your stories - so much so that I find I don't do ANY stories anymore - I find myself conversing less and less cos I feel discounted.... now is that cos I'm getting older and people don't have any interest in me? or is it just a general ME ME ME generation? It's not like I try to overtalk others -- I rarely have much interesting to say anyway - but the very occasional sort of 'oh that's interesting M...' -- it would be lovely --

I think that WAS a rant too JC :egad:

Its happening..........definitely happening. Especially to older women and .........we're sliding into the invisible generation...........used to be those between born 1929.......1945 anyhoo............ Oddly enough talking to a lass at AA a while ago her mother is saying the same thing. There's masses to read.

We should get an app on our hands with a choice............. a) did you hear anything I said?b) like c) boooooooooooriiiiiiiiing d):heartbeat: e)

There is an alternative.............try this book. Bought it for Mr. JC for after some of his clients walk out of the door.

So it IS age?? That is really sad - when I was younger I thought older people were so wise.. I was in awe of their knowledge and experience.. both in life generally and in the work place.. ah sure-- it must be great to be 30 and know everything!!
So I think I'll just keep my mouth shut and let them run the world!

It was five years ago. MIL is 95 this year. Defo not SIL..............she's the messenger. Poor cow. Thing is over the last five years MIL has admitted she doesn't like us to swoop in all at once. Anyway Mr JC was up there this morning.
I dunno what Pa-in-law's up to.

You know the afternoon after the wedding the kids (Ma-in-law couldn't come as with her newish anxiety of crowds and being not well).............they spent time with them both of them showing photos of the wedding from theiir phones, bits of cake and the bridesmaids posies..............I thought that was so sweet.
Apart from the pair of them being hung over to Hell they were newly weds.
Only realised today that was six months ago..........today.

How's about saying pardon after every second word.

Again it's down to pure BAD MANNERS not to allow someone to finish a sentence & not butt in.
I have to say the worst offenders are MrS & his twin. They ask a question - before you have a chance to answer they are in with something else.

Mr S has the annoying habit of cutting across me if we are in a group conversation - talking over me & dismissing me as if I'd never spoken.
He has learned though - because I have pulled him up on it to his embarrassment - "hey .. lips moving - still talking"
So now all it takes is a 'look' .............
                so fecking RUDE.

The glaze over drives me mad too, maybe Im just not that interesting.. I think people are so caught up in their own lives, that the only reason they might be interested is 'how it affects them'. I dont bother either. We were all brought up to be extremely nosey, so happy to have one sided conversations :happy2:
Then again, its worked in my favour when I quit drinking as I was extremely worried about people interrogating me about my decision. Turns out, no-one gives a shit (except those that may have a small problem themselves and find it all very uncomfortable).

                  And braggers... yawn, glaze over.

A “Karen”, in internet slang, refers to a specific stereotype. “Karen” is a woman between the ages of 30 and 50, always white, almost always has kids and lives in the suburbs. Generally middle-class, drives an SUV, and is often either blonde or has blonde highlights.

And is on her way to complain to the manager as we speak...
                          That's the one.

Can't believe that wedding was six months ago. That gave me a real jolt.

The other thing I'm going to make myself do is stop helping the youngn's at work. 30 somethings with PhDs and not a clue between them. Group discussion re marketing team who keep 'dobbing' on us and generally being passive aggressive. Big wide eyes drawing angry birds on their notepads with a pink gel pen. One of them so obviously checking Facebook. The others staring off into space. Do we want to do outreach I say? Take them for a coffee and a frank chat? Clarify some PDs with them? They jolt themselves awake and start taking notes. Then report back as if it's their solution.
These people are being paid three grades above me, tens of thousands more per year and they can't come up with the most basic management and comms plans. They give me the shits. There's one that stares right at a wall and babbles like a politician saying absolutely feck all of substance, knowing I can't stand it and I'll interject.
So I've made a decision to buy my own gel pen and draw flowers during meetings with my tongue stuck out the side of my mouth in concentration. Don't go over the lines Bridget... And when an 'insurmountable' problem like 'someone doesn't like us' comes along I'm going to slowly focus back in on them and say 'Shiiiit! What are we going to do?'

We are getting some AWESOME rants in today, girls! Well done us!
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?
                          Rejoined life 20/5/19

                            Morning,
I'm very un-ranty today. Ask me tomorrow when I've read the office manual when you know most of it is down to common sense and could be written on the back of an envelope.

Yep, six months. They're going on their honeymoon next month to Mexico. Apparently five days in Croatia doesn't count.

Talking about time flying we promised at Christmas to look after Buddy (the mad Beagle) when Jenny and Ads are in Edinburgh for couple of days. Its next week. :egad:

I've been reaching my Aunt how to do whatsapp.................the blind leading the blind comes to mind. We sent her flowers for her birthday and she managed to send us a photo. Not bad for a 78-year-old. There'll be no stopping her now,

                                Satzuma, how's your Mum?

Only exciting news I've had a gyppy tummy all day. Think its a case of nerves about tomorrow.
