Evening folks, hope all are well. Kinda scary how quickly this has taken off, news changing by the hour. Let’s hope sense prevails with some of the more idiotic and selfish people in our communities, the ‘won’t happen to me, carry on as normal’ crowd are really starting to piss me off.
Personally as a full paid up member of AL’s not so chosen few, self isolation has never ever been a problem for me, guess there is always an upside to everything if you look hard enough.

Good morning everyone. Hope all feeling well. Great to see you back Tabs, stick around. I took today off and kind of glad now. Plumbers finished but awaiting floors so still a long way from the painting stage. Off for a walk in the woods in a while. That’s all we did in the west but it was by the sea. The doggies had a ball, no one around so they were off lead. The car parks around here were so full on Saturday, people who would normally be in shopping centres out walking. Think it is great for the kids.

Morning all ..hi Tabs..Glad you enjoyed yourself Rusters..we went out on bike yesterday..it was FABULOUS ...but at one stage we were driving through Portmarnock past the beach there..there must have been 1000 people there...not teenagers either..jostling past each other talking in large groups very close up...don't think that's the idea either...I'm sure the beaches out west were lovely..no one on them even in height of summer so you were in the right place!..

Luckily our TV aerial is buggered so don't have to watch the news or Boris's daily update.

My sister's in Glasgow - says all over 70s are to be put on lockdown / isolated?
They can't do that - can they ? :egad:

That was about 4 pm yesterday..................its been watered down a tad................lovely phrases 'like lets get the spirit of the WW1 & 2 going'..............'join hands together' blah, blah, blah.......obviously forgetting that we have to wash seventeen times an hour. According to my Gran and Nana and a MIL who nursed during it and it was vile. Not the the 'knees up mother Brown' jolliness portrayed by the movies.
My MIL is housebound, she's 95 and her greatest fear is strangers in the house. She has a district nurse every other day and a husband that is 90.................to clonk the over 70s imo (and its not a humble one ) is just shuttling them onto someome elses conscience. There are over 70's that are still part of the workforce......if they don't get paid ......yes they can apply for Universal credit but that at its fastest is five weeks to get thru the system. We don't all have thousands in the bank.
The majority are doing it without being asked.
Rant over.

Other than that I'm still bunged up, never mind the TV aerial got a 1000 and one boxsets to get through and good friends :heartbeat:

Husband, who can easily work from WFH, was told if hes not coming in today, does he want to take holidays..

Its the teens who are driving everyone mad here. They are probably not going to suffer many affects, but will ensure to keep it very alive in the community. I bet if this virus was targeting kids rather than older people, there wouldnt be a sinner on the streets.

What’s up Bridget? Vent if you need to. Feel for you Mary, house arrest with teens is no fun! Have they not closed the libraries? Maybe Molly working behind the scenes. If this continues it will have a huge impact as not everyone can work from home. You know MWO has been a lifeline for staying sober, could also help us get through this.

My library is shut.
We still don't know if we're coming or going such is our wonderful government.

Jenny's partner's Mum is 70 her Dad in 101 next month and he lives alone (he's a startling 101) so she's just moving in with him......they've both got to isolate......much to the horror of this old man to save on bills.

Mr JC's chuffed to bits as he mended the TV............he'd flicked a switch in the wrong place.

70 and 101!! they are good numbers.
I was reading up about the Herd immunity that Boris is hoping for. I see the logic, but seriously, its a big risk. Might work on paper, but humans are much more complicated.

Are there laws about NOT restricting screen time, I may be in trouble.

Just saying hi. No news from here. We are not only in self isolation - it's been raining so can't even go stand outside. I might go stand under a lamp and pretend I'm getting sun. It's just weird that sunny California has been so gloomy for the past week or so. Must have know there was a virus coming around.
No reason to complain - I'm just taking it one step at a time. Can't worry about the future - will just have to do the best we can.

Let's hear how all getting through today...I'm planting my veg...weather permitting..making a good dinner..knitting reading and watching shite on Tele...no work cos it's Paddys Day.. sounds ok really!!!
Oh yeah..libraries are closed..but we are catching up on work behind closed doors
Joe is getting antsy...nervous and sad..all our hols going down the toilet etc...but...it is what it is..

We've still got the plasterer coming on Thursday.........Bess and I will be upstairs and he wears a mask.
I have to go into town tomorrow to pick up the rest of my prescription. Its going to weird. Was supposed to be having coffee with a friend but she's a nurse so think it'll be wise to cancel...........we've got to keep them safe.

yeah you're right Jackie - we've made a little pact - if one of us goes - we both go -- not doing any separate bedrooms nor nothing - also NOT barring Jilly and Tilly from the house - they practically LIVE here - their little house is IN our garden - so yeah - I've set up a protocol - Dettol wash at the front door for handles and hands - they are at the far end of the sitting room when Joe is here. but really - I'm more of a risk to anyone than they are - the building I work in has the public coming in to the housing dept upstairs - so... yeah - apparently public service workers are more dispensable than the general public!!! anyways - accepting that NO holidays will happen this year and it truly could be a case of 'life before... and life after' -- can't help thinking it's some sort of a spiritual balancing of a world that's become horrible -- money money money -- and of course -- I'm probably talking shite - but in the meantime - protect our old and vulnerable and be sensible -- and as Nora says -- ONE STEP AT A TIME -- or even just one day at a time..
