Re: FORWARD -- MARCH --- ARMY March 2020

Morning all - back to the coalface today. I woke thinking I'd pull an age excuse to self-isiolate and not go in but my conscience won't allow it.
So it's "One Day at A Time Sweet Jesus "!

After what Molls said about 72 hours I think I have to rethink taking in bags & gifts from visitors today and passing them down to residents.
Even if it is Mother's Day we can celebrate it when this has been beaten.

Happy Mothers Day all!!! You're right Benjy -- (some say 48 hours but we are working on 72 hours for safety) -- little Matilda came out to me in the garden yesterday with a flower she'd picked for me - I discreetly took the flower (at a very long arm length)with my jumper sleeve... hysterical and unnecessary? Maybe -- but why not? Not doing harm being over cautious without causing hysteria and panic

Re: FORWARD -- MARCH --- ARMY March 2020

Good morning Army and Happy Mother's Day to all celebrating!!

JackieClaire - hope you're ready to come out of your cocoon, Jackie dear, although, if that's what you have to do to cope, then stay there. I can certainly understand your anxiety with your COPD and this damn virus. Wouldn't want that anxiety to turn to depression tho', cause you've confined yourself to one room. Sending you lots of these....

mollyka - glad to hear that Joe is better. Maybe a run on the bike in a couple of days if he's up to it. Blow away the cobwebs so to speak.

IamMary - "a fur coat no knickers woman" describes me to a T. Love it. Have actually done something similar - PJ bottoms tucked into high boots and a long coat on to disguise the fact that I was still in my jammies when picking up older son from school.

rustop59 - that dog food diet story cracked me up. Thanks for sharing!!

Guitarista - good to see you Mr. G and sounding so positive. I see from your thread that you are really clocking up the sober days. Great Job!!

brit - Mrs. A - please keep us posted on your condition. Kinda scary I have to admit but as someone else said - you're very healthy so that should be a bonus. Hope you get well soon. A  for you, too...
byebyebridgetjones - I have made myself a list as well. Decided to start with 15-minute tasks to get myself going because basically I hate housework and can only take so much at a time but have decided to give my place a good cleaning. Well, the first task went ok - washing the dishes and wiping down all the kitchen surfaces. Second on the list was to pull out the stove, clean under it and wipe down the sides. Hah - pulled it out - saw the dust and stuff then decided to clean the floor under the kitchen cupboards as well. 45 minutes later and I still haven't wiped down the stove. However, I have chlorinated every inch of kitchen floor and counter tops and a few other things as well so I guess I'm making progress. Thus a short break to check into the barracks.

Yer a brave woman, satz123. And more than just thoughtful, as well. Hope Rosie is better. As for the 72 hours and such for the virus to die - I was trying to stress something like that a couple of days ago. I probably came across as preachy or know-it-all. Didn't mean to. It's just that I'm trying to be as careful as I can and try my best to not catch this damn virus. And great news about the older people who have recovered. I agree with JackieClaire - I don't think our immune system is like that of our grandparents or even our parents. And the latest generation of parents relies even more on a quick prescription from the Dr. to cure everything and baby wipes being used constantly. My grandfather always said you have to eat a peck of dirt before you die. Damn, kids these days aren't even allowed to get down and play in the dirt. How can you make mud pies without mud??

Well, back to the cleaning for this girl. Catch up with youz laterz if anyone's around.

Hope Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB) is better. Please check in!!!

G-SPOT! Stay healthy and happy there Mr. I can now Skype Zoom Facetime and Webex. So that's fun. The next tech free day will be a long time away I fear.
The parents are 79 and 82 and very fit and well. Mum's really social so I think she'll crack first. Dad's like me, he could play with a rock and two sticks and stay amused.
I've been very dutiful today and phoned, messaged and contacted everyone even though I hate phones esp talking on them.
I deserve to watch the rest of Frankie and Grace.

Oh that's really good Brit. I think we're all so wound up in this virus we forget about the common cold and allergies and such.

I like where your head's at Stirly. I jolly good deep clean, then you just need to maintain it. I'm finding that the house maintains itself a lot better now that I've gotten through the worst of it.

Afternoon everyone. Glad you are feeling better Brit. How are you Tabs? Happy Mother’s Day to all too. Sun is shining, could clean the house but think I’ll go in the garden for a while. Can’t go near the woods as the crowds are crazy. Can see total lockdown coming as people are just not getting it. They had to close the car park in Glendalough because of the crowds. Madness.

Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

Waves to the world,
Symptom list has been checked..............got none Having checked again I am allowed on the big field...............it is a very, very big field. We have ducted heating and it makes everything dry so I can have a blast of fresh air.
Looked at what's on TV........we've got the rugby match showing England beating New Zealand from 1972...........I've given up and may binge on the Simpsons or Mastechef.

Balcony Music. Italy vs Spain vs England - YouTube

We have some real heroes and I can't mention them all not only the doctors, the nurses, but there's also the teachers, the libarians, the cleaners, the postmen, the public transport workers, the police, prison officers, health care workers and more............we're taking care of them and their safety. We never thought they were vital before but we do now.
Jenny's got her orders and spoke to her this morning and she was blowing the tyres up on her bike. I'm not sure whether I'm more worried about her going arse over elbow than getting the virus...........she's got the grace of a one legged flamingo.

Mrs. A - glad to hear you're feeling better.

The Prime Minister of Greece announced a couple of hours ago that our movements will be restricted and we were just sent messages to our cell phones to that effect. Only people going to and from their place of work or driving supply trucks are allowed on the road and they must have a special permit on them at all times. This will greatly limit the people driving cars just to go to supermarkets, pharmacies, etc., the elderly and those just out for a drive. No idea how long it will last but I do applaud the government for taking these measure. Hopefully our innate need for self-protection and our sense of humour will help us get through these times.

Wishing you all a pleasant evening and an uneventful week ahead. Damn, we stopped drinking - we got sober. We can get through this!!!!!!

Wow thats limiting stirly-girly.. I am hoping we don't have to do that, but it is the way people are talking. Didnt wander too far from home today, so didnt see if there were many gatherings.
The weirdest Mothers day ever, but it was nice - spent ages face timing the folks (3 siblings can do it at the same time with my folks, but then we start again with the 4th and pretend this is 'the family call' - we think its hilarious of course, but that possibly because we are going slowly mad).

Brit, thats good news.. Might not be the virus, but your right to isolate.
Its certainly getting closer now, few friends/family in self isolation and a 2 different cousins and their kids are reporting symptoms. Big backlog of tests here, but they should catchup over the next couple of weeks.
Every cough seems to be tested here - I think in the UK, your only tested if you go into hospital?

Is Jenny still going into school JackieClaire, will there be many kids? Thats not something there are doing here (kids of front line workers). It sounds like a really good initiative.

Off to watch a scary movie that is not suitable for the youngest, but as she says, these are scary times mam.

Got some delivered to the door step, left there for half an hour then brought in.
The worrying thing is they don't normally send gifts just cards..............am I doomed.

Just waiting to facetime Jenny and .............never done that before so I'm defo doomed

IamMary............you're as surprised as I was. Its for vulnerable children and or those children with those on the front line. Social services are doing their best with the vulnerable but there'll be a few of them in. Even if its just to get fed. How absolutely ridiculous in this day that children in the UK don't get fed at home. But its not the time for politics.

Waves to all from at least 12 metres.
