Ah just one of the ‘joys’ of youth, but like me on motorbikes in my early 20s, miracle I am still here.

Re: FORWARD -- MARCH --- ARMY March 2020
Agree - wrong tack used at the beginning to get the message across. Saying it affects mostly older & sick in the community ... was totally the wrong thing to say - that doesn't worry the young at all.
TELL THEM IT"LL KILL THEM AND SEE THE CHANGE.
MrS came across a group of 8 lads today in the local park all sitting in a circle together. He said about social distancing - they said "ah we can't get it " - that says it all.
And the same lads don't give a shit that they'll bring it home to granny....

Re: FORWARD -- MARCH --- ARMY March 2020
I think the problem with that (for me anyway) would be not willing to take up a doctors time when there are potentially people dying all around me...
So what if it takes 5 minutes of a doctor's time to write a note - if it means one more person staying at home - then it's worth it.Last edited by satz123; March 23, 2020, 05:54 PM.

Re: FORWARD -- MARCH --- ARMY March 2020
Evening,
So UK lock-down. Presume we will follow. ALthough I do think what Germany have done is good, ban groups larger that 2. Then again, if some eejits cant comply with what we have, nothing short of a total ban will do.
Australia might follow too Bridge? Although your schools are still open?
Greece are doing very well Stirls.
Hadnt thought about AA meetings starty, of course they wont be allowed either. Hopefully they are doing skype sessions or some online solution. Another reason to be grateful we have MWO.
Molly and Satz, ridiculous carry on. At this stage if your employer doesnt have your best interests, its time to make your own decisions.
Agree on the wrong message to the young kids. My cousins 2 kids are quite sick with it (waiting tests for confirmation, but it was in the school before they broke up).
Uneventful day here.Last edited by IamMary; March 23, 2020, 06:16 PM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: FORWARD -- MARCH --- ARMY March 2020
Good morning folks!!
Tabbers, great to see you back. Hope you're feeling better very soon.
Very few cars/trucks on the road so far this morning although it is early - just after 8. Main city bus lines are still running but very few passengers. I heard this report on the radio this morning and it totally freaked me out.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the coronavirus disease pandemic is "accelerating", with more than 300,000 cases now confirmed.
It took 67 days from the first reported of Covid-19 to reach 100,000 cases, 11 days for the second 100,000, and just four days for the third 100,000.
We need to take very strict measures IMVHO. Like absolutely no contact with others than the people we live with, if at all possible. And if we must go out - face masks and gloves are essential and keep at least 2 metres distance from others if possible. Hopefully others will get the message, too. Young folk especially. It would be great if some of our rock/hiphop stars got into this whole thing and posted videos directed at young people explaining how they need to protect themselves and others. Maybe a message from their idols would get through to them. Just a thought...

Re: FORWARD -- MARCH --- ARMY March 2020
Hello all. Waking up to lockdown is very strange. Mr S work still want him in which I am not happy about. I have asthma and on cocktail of drugs including a high dose steriod inhaler so have been told I should be shielding. That includes shielding from Mr S and making sure we do not go anywhere near each other, disinfect bathroom between uses etc. so all very worrying with him still going out etc. Hope you all have a safe day

Can he just say 'no' starty? Would they sack him ? I can just not go and not get paid..Can't afford that cos I'm the only one working..we lost Joe's pension in the LAST poxy recession!!! But it is inhuman to have that stress for his job..is it something in healthcare he does?
Edit..having said that I am just going to say no...won't go hungry...yet!!!Last edited by mollyka; March 24, 2020, 03:56 AM.Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: FORWARD -- MARCH --- ARMY March 2020
Got our personal government lockdown text last night as Mr A is a vulnerable compromised person. It also applies to me now. We have to stay housebound for 12 weeks. His operation on Friday has been cancelled.
HOWEVER, we have a garden the sun is shining and we are both feeling OK.

stirly-girly.........you'll remember this from its 21st..........
Its 28 years to the day that Jenny had a hole in heart repaired. It was only discovered at her pre-school check, corrected using her own tissue so can and does do anything. This is why our family charity is CHUF (Children's Heart Unit Fund) and she runs for CHUF. I :heartbeat: nurses.
As the nurse always called the scar her Zip over the years its turned into Zippy day so Happy Birthday Zippy
It could be worse, I could be filing.
