I am certainly not a key worker jacks no reason on gods earth to have us in here it is deplorable but yes deffo Jenny and the likes...unsung heroes in my eyes...shopping for elderly would be considered essential I presume...and now Boris has it!!!!

Good morning everyone. Seems to be getting worse by the day. :hug:Pauly, don’t be a stranger. Some places have very good safety procedures and others seem to be more casual. I have been buying packaged or vacuum packaged goods. Aldi don’t have a deli counter and I have not been to Tesco etc since this started. Seems Health & Safety are going to be doing spot checks from next week and closing places not following proper measures. My garden is becoming my refuge. Also this morning my crochet class had a zoom meeting. 40 minute time limit but still better than nothing.

Molly libraries open brought up on Newstalk this morning. Have to say Pat Kenny (pompous git) was not very sympathetic. Big buildings and with no public, surely plenty of space was his opinion

At the rate that this virus is going I'll be surprised if everyone has 1.either had it already and mistook it for the flu in the past few months 2.get it, get tested recover or 3.get it and get very sick and maybe pass on I told my daughter it reminds me of the chicken pox, everyone has had it during their childhood, not now cuz of vaccines but I don't know a soul alive who hasn't had it anyone here? Sure it's scary and I'm very sad for anyone dying but take your precautions like you would any flu season but maybe go an extra step, I'm not worried so much about the virus I'm just worried about Vegas and other places staying closed and people going crazy in the streets! Sending love to you all

Also to add I'm not being blase about the virus and people getting sick, I just feel like it's out of our hands really and just wanted to say my little piece I'm tired of being scared of it cuz it really is an"invisible enemy" also Stirly when I found out my shop was closing along with the rest of Vegas I did drink but quickly remembered how gross it is and it's worse than any virus out there! Love you all.

Okay how's about being key to us :hug: Think the libraries were the first to close over here. Only thing I can think of is make it BIG press. Its a disgrace.

And this isolation/ distancing is working it seems to be working.......and tbh its not hard......not so much for waiting for a cure/vaccine but to delay the use of hospitals. We're running out of ventilators. I don't want to scaremonger............but if you can watch BBC World news. It just gives facts.

In fairness he said it Molls in response to someone asking why Library workers were going in. He said they are more than likely catching up on indexing etc. and that staff aren't likely to be on top of one another ? And they are trying to keep as many in jobs as they can ... to keep the economy moving somewhat. So that's what you are doing :applause:

I'm a 'Receptionist' / Bouncer / Agony aunt in a Nursing Home - not strictly essential but still front line in that residents are all 'round me. They need someone to do the admin: pay the invoices ; the door ( taking in stuff from families & other deliveries) : the phone ( MENTAL): - cos when I'm not there like today a nurse or carer must do it. So if it frees up a nurse then I will :applause: myself !

I have just got news that middle (precious) daughter made it back and is in quarantine in a friends apartment. Had her card stolen in Johannesburg Has no phone. A running friend paid for a taxi from the airport. Hospital authorities verified she is essential and someone is delivering her a phone. PHEW. Will read back in a bit

Pauly -- this too shall pass!!! it is killing a lot of people tho - nearly 1000 in Italy in the last 24 hours - that's unimaginable to me... and Spain not far behind... I'm getting regular panic attacks at this stage... so using every trick in the book to calm down

Spoke to the S&H this afternoon and managed to keep from crying..........they are home to a whole new world. He'll be on 80% wages for the next three months not sure what his missus will be getting but they've got savings. They got a hire car from Manchester and managed a shop at an M&S......would you believe at a service station..............apart from reeling from the cost, they'll be fed for over the weekend. They can hoard the pilchards and quinoa.
Once they've got over the jet lag we'll talk properly.

Mr JC managed to get all th shopping for his Ma & Pa including the wallpaper paste.

And trying to put a smile on my face................. SIL is starting a group zoom/face time or whatever its called. I'll be waving from behind the settee.

Will Boris be isolating with Prince Charles? I'm sure they've plenty to chat about during their confinement.

Molly, your management team need taking out the back and smacking around. Our libraries all shut this week until further notice - and we're known for under-reacting. Please write them a formal email registering your concern at their lack of action in reference to public health guidelines and the definition of essential services Vs Work Health and Safety guidelines. Keep a copy of it at home.

My workplace is now closed for all staff and students. I believe that the call came too late for us to ever have confidence in executive management again - not that I ever did. I am so glad that I made my own decision for my health and the health of my family - and threw the gauntlet down to them. There is enough chance that I will contract the virus while fetching groceries for my parents without additional probability/possibility coming in to play.
