It has helped me stay sober. I am coming upto week 8 and this has been rather easy so far. But as soon as the bars open up again I know that it will be a fight that I know that I will win. I no longer desire to be drunk.I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.
Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.
Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Re: so has lockdown helped anyone on here
I sneaked to my parents house as I hadn't seen them in ages. Had 3 beers during the day one of which was with my meal.
Still not bad to do about 30 days with no alcohol at all. Previousl to that I'd only had a couple of beers. Last big out of control drinking session was 16th March.

Hubbie's last 'proper' drink was at Cheltenham on 13th March until yesterday when we had a Music Quiz on the road for all neighbours. He had 4 bottles of beer that were in the fridge since Christmas.
He associates alcohol only with socialising outside the home ( we were at the end of the drive) :haha: Never drinks in the house - but can go out and drink many pints of Guinness
The difference between us : I was a daily drinker - never out of control - but I would have gotten alcohol somewhere. Any excuse.
I can see where you are coming from now.
But as you say
big out of control drinking session
NOT cool Kev !

Re: so has lockdown helped anyone on here
Even my big out of control drinking session was pint for pint and still in single figures within about 5 hours.
It's been a great year for me drink wise - not a drop till 22nd Feb and low level sessions after that. 2 pints total in April.
Big improvement on all years previous since 1998 (starting drinking at the end of that year as a 17 year old) Increased level in late 1999 after turning 18 and no longer being asked to leave pubs.

Re: so has lockdown helped anyone on here
pint for pint
OR are you somehow putting the blame on others that they 'make' you drink ?
They don't care what you drink & if they do they have a problem.
Stating the bleedin' obvious : you are not 17 anymore and should not to succumb to peer pressure Kev.
I found that saying NO when 'expected' to drink was one of the most powerful things I've ever done.
To this day I still enjoy their faces - and you can see they admire you for not 'having to' drink in social settings.
Try it !Last edited by satz123; May 6, 2020, 04:19 AM.

Again I HAVE to ask what part of your drinking do you want to discuss / change by being here Kev ?
Clearly something is annoying you ?
