Re: International Army August 2020
Morning from the underworld.
@brit I'm so sorry for your worries there and of course for Mr Brit. I can't imagine how tired and worried you are. I'm just very glad that you have your girls there with you through this.
@rustop that's the most lovely poem. There's really something in that for all of us no matter what we are battling; just keeping the forward momentum going until we are strong enough to pick up the pace ourselves. I've also been thinking a lot about good daily habits lately. The kind of things that just run in the background like an operating system so that when we are under stress they act like a foundation. Things like having a stock of good quality food in the fridge and freezer, a daily walk habit with the dog, a cleaning and organisation plan for the house that just needs a bit of a daily maintainance. Those things have seen me through a fair bit over the years. That's how I knew I was really ill with alcohol-the garden was a mess and told me so.
It's so lovely for you girls to be actual friends with your daughters. I always wanted one but that will never happen now of course.
Hope you are having a lovely time Mollers!
I'd love to have a day in the garden but it's windy and cold out there and thoroughly uninviting.
Satzy, see my comment above. I'm hoping the dog groomers that you used for Rosie are OK? Do you know them well? I got thinking about it and there was one who I took my girl to but never went back. Just wasn't sure if he was being gentle enough with her.
Mers, are you off somewhere?Last edited by byebyebridgetjones; August 21, 2020, 06:27 PM.If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Re: International Army August 2020
Morning from lovely Bangor Co Down...smashing day yesterday all over the Mournes and out round the Causeway Coast
How's things today Whizzy? Thinking of you and sending love xx
Re. The daughter thing Bridge...I dunno of course I'm delighted to have a daughter and we've always been close ( cept for a row the year I got sober...she was a harridan) but sometimes it feels like I'm her 'pal' but when it suits I'm mum and expected to pick up pieces and problem solve and be constantly in control...it's a compliment in a way that she thinks I can fill all those roles but on the other hand the lads don't expect all of that and I certainly didn't land every hiccup in my life in my mum's lap...I know that sounds selfish but I do feel a bit....I dunno...grow up??Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: International Army August 2020
MR A came home and saw his 3 daughters very sad he can't have a hug due to this bloody virus.
We both slept well until about 4 am. Both of us very upset and being in isolation is hard. One daughter came early yesterday and cleaned the house from top to bottom and the three of them are supporting us as best they can.

Re: International Army August 2020
Morning,
brit..........the dreaded 4am wake up and thank you for keeping us updated. I know I'd be in the cupboard under the stairs but you're here, amazing. You're a hero.
mollyka..............we went to Bangor 10 years ago. We were staying in Belfast. Two things I remember...............its so pretty and I wanted to live there and on the way back to the railway station a man offered us a raw chicken (wrapped) he'd found in the street and offered it to us for nothing to take home. He also had a two-litre bottle of milk but he was keeping that.
Right time to put my big girl pants on and go to the hairdresser. It could be worse, I could be filing.

That is so true Bridget. Can you imagine the mess we would be during this pandemic if were drinking.

Re: International Army August 2020
Hello everyone,
I have enjoyed reading back very much. Have had a very busy week but have some time off next week. Was planning a trip to Brisbane but with borders closed, am having a house sorting first week, then away to a rainforest retreat the second. Really looking forward to the retreat in a warmer climate. Its in the minuses overnight here at the moment and snowing nearby today.
brit I am thinking of you and Mr A and wishing you both all the best that can be. So glad your girls are with you.
byebyebridgetjones so glad you are going well with quitting sugar. Good luck with getting the part time work approved. That could be an awesome change for you. More time for the garden! Also thanks for the tip - will check out Gardening Together with Diarmuid Gavin tomorros
mollyka you are quite right about the fake sugar - I have decided to quit my quest bars as I crave them all the time now. :egad:
NoSugar everything i've read and listened to on youtube about intermittent fasting talks about the two compartment system and how when you do eat, you mustn't spike your insulin. So I try to eat no sugar at all. I watched a guy talking about the little devices to measure blood sugar and how everyone is totally different. A friend of mine's husband is diabetic and he hasn't quit sugar, which amazes me. In spite of being keto and intermittent fasting, I've been the same weight for absolute ages. I've started to think i should get something and measure my insulin each time after I eat to see how different foods effect me. For example, I like to start my morning off with a little lemon juice in warm water. I wonder if that could cause an insulin spike? Or maybe its the quest bars. I don't know. I've stopped eating keto this week and gone back to having some rice with meals. Been super tired and its been raining a lot and really cold so not going for walks either.
Best to all

Re: International Army August 2020
Hair done...........didn't run out screaming its very flickable and smooth.
Bess continues to not to poop everywhere just out on her sedate walks. Is a lot livelier and back to her cheekiness. A diet of chicken, fish and either rice or pasta is working.
Popped in to see the newest Mr & Mrs JC.
And the big shop .
I don't half life live in the fast lane.
I haven't had this much excitement in one day for months and I'm wiped out.
Nighty night. It could be worse, I could be filing.
