Re: International Army September 2020

stirly-girly...........our numbers are in the thousands.....I'm not a scientist but I'm not stupid.....could it have something to do with the pubs opening.
Like I said a couple of months ago you can't drive a car after a couple of pints so how can you judge two metres apart after a skinful.
I'm starting to get cross so I'll have to sit and ohhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm for a minute or 20.

It really is not her day. Greece have just been taken off our green list so isolation when she gets back. Norway has also been taken off, glad my daughter got home a few weeks ago. Really can’t keep up at this stage. Can I break into Dublin, have eyebrow appointment next Week. Think it rates as essential, in my books anyway and only 20 minutes away, not city centre. Will join JC in an ommmm.

Zoomed tonight with my crochet group as we cannot start our classes yet. Had a good laugh as usual and got a bit of crochet done too. Night everyone.

OH no!! poor SAtz. Is that close to you Stirls?
JackieClaire, all we CAN do is breath... numbers will go up and down. Think we will be in parallel lock down, although it hasn't be announced yet.

Rustop, I think eyebrows do fall under the emergency list, its just in the really really small print.

Good morning Army!!

Mers - that made me LOL!!

No, the island of Kefallonia is not near me. It's off the west coast of Greece - I'm just outside of Athens which puts me 10 minutes from the east coast of mainland Greece. It did rain a bit early morning here where our store is but the downpours are expected from midday and on. Not good. They haven't harvested all of the grapes yet and they don't want wet grapes going into the crushing machines. Never mind all the new crops that have been recently planted and don't need high winds and deluges of water.

I'm not surprised that we have been taken off the green list. As I said yesterday - we are steady at over 300 new cases per day. Luckily the deaths are not that many in comparison to the cases - only 2-3 every couple of days or so. Not that we need people dying but just saying. I did read an article yesterday about the deaths from Covid here and it said that 85% were people over 70 years of age and with other health issues. Still, we need to be very careful and it's not being done. Even myself, I get together with my girlfriends. We don't hug and stuff but we are all together at a table and defo less than a metre between us. And my grandson gets hugs when he gets dropped off at our store by the school bus twice a week. And he's in contact with so many kids at pre-school. Even tho' they all wear masks, there is still the danger of contamination from the other kids and teachers. I guess we just can't protect ourselves 100%.

Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB) - good to see you, our boy. Please drop in more often. Even when YOU don't think you have much to say, you always post something pertaining to the current situation and life in general.

Thick, smelly employee continues to annoy the bejesus out of both son and myself. Luckily we have hired a new lad who seems much brighter so the other one will most likely be given notice for the end of September. Had son blowing a gasket and me pulling out my hair yesterday! Not the best way to be when working. And in spite of the economic slump due to Covid, we are very busy, PTL, as Molls would say. If I hadn't gotten sober almost 5 years ago, none of what is happening in our family business would have happened. And I would not be sitting here at my desk writing this post. I am so very grateful every single day that I no longer drink and certainly never even think about it. It's just a part of my past that is exactly there - in the past.

Wishing you all a wonderful day.inkele: :spin:

We have relatively few cases, and relatively many idiots who think it can't happen to them. It may be a dangerous combination. Masks are not mandated where I am but I take one with me and if it gets peopley I put it straight on. I don't go out much because I don't like said people. Never did. Working from home for an indefinite period. Also just got some pretty scary news about the future of my work and an Early Retirement offer that I may be better off to take. So much uncertainty.
Anyway, that's not what you asked but I just got on a tangent and kept going

Thanks, Bridge. I am working on one for my sister now. Have several hanging in my home. The rest I mostly gave away many years ago.

I did eat the bagel. Whole wheat with creamed cheese. Very yummy. Actually I ordered two. Son ate the other one. The order was delivered inside a paper bag and each bagel was in a paper bag so said delivery person did not come in actual contact with the bagels inside the bagel bags.

I doubt they will evacuate but there will probably be some kind of lockdown - doors, windows, etc. Boats tied more tightly to their moorings, etc., etc. I think the greatest danger is flooding.

I like tangents. I have several of them every day. And venting. They help keep me from shooting out the tires of bad drivers and from whacking inconsiderate people.

If you can manage an early retirement package, Bridge, mebbe a good idea. I would love that but 1) I'm too old. Already past the retirement age of 65 and 2) I have no retirement package. I worked 23 years next to Mr. Stirly in the family business and no benefits were ever paid in my name. So I have to stick with it for another couple of years. Luckily I mostly like people the I work with. Said with tongue in cheek....

Morning and waves,
Was up early but have literally been dithering about and done nothing. I should put dithering on my CV as a talent.
Opened fridge door numerous times in a vain hope something would just jump out and say 'cook me' 'I'll be good for dinner tonight' 'my use by date is tomorrow'

Mr JC last night raced up to see Ma & Pa before the new lockdown started.

A wave of ennui is upon me. Perhaps more coffee will help.

Are you literally back to lockdown Jackie?
We are being tightened up here in Dublin alright...not sure of exact details but yeah we have a rise in cases...not deaths bizarrely tho guessing they may come
Restrictions won't affect me or mine ..apparently we are all essential workers...fine by me..need a routine for sure!
Should be flying home from Cyprus right now...no regrets tho..it was the right thing to do..I fail to understand why so many countries are barracking to open up to tourists..it's only going to keep it spreading...feck all tourists here I think so I'm fine with that...wouldn't be if I was in the hospitality industry tho...was glad to be able to support our own last week

Ladies, just read this and am freaked out!! Satzy is on the west coast of this island. Not good news.....

Kefalonia - Ianos: 1 tons of water per acre - 7% of the island without electricity and boats on land - The Kefalonia Pulse
