Ye know where the safest place is now ; the Isle of Man. Only one restriction - ....... if you fly out & back - 14 days proper quarantine - as in it's policed.
You have to drive STRAIGHT home if you are seen stopping you can go to prison. They call every day to make sure you are staying in.

Result : everything is open - shops, cinemas, hairdressers, pubs - it's as it was pre-covid - no masks needed, no social distancing etc. Their own bubble.
A lot of Irish have moved there apparently in recent years.
Were you listening to Joe Duffy too
The way she was describing their management, sounds so easy and obvious. They are getting cases, but it seems to be when they are in quarantine.

Family drama about to kick off. We are staying put for Christmas day but will do garden visits to the grandparents, but my folks will be going to one sibling and another will be staying with my folks. Siblings are on different ends of the spectrum in terms of dealing with this (Sweden Vs Isle of Man). Sibling A planning to take kids out of school in advance to isolate so parents are safe. Sibling B wont hear of this.
I may check out Mollys pad in Portugal until it blows over.

Another good thing with these restrictions: no pressure this year to meet up with everyone you ever knew for 5 minutes and pretend to be having a great time, but really cant wait to be home on the sofa.

Suppose theres no news on an appointment JC?
And Bridge on the job front?

Portugal? Can I come along? Please. Due to the quarantine, I will only be telling inside jokes!

IamMary - for once I don't get the feeling of panic having to do that Mers. It's hateful.
Mr S is usually on a roll having to meet up with every one of his family - dunno why ? He sees them all through the year anyway ....... :haha:

Agreed...never felt less fussed about any element of Christmas...even the kiddies presents..did a mad dash to shops before lockdown so whatever I have..that's what they get.. the immediate family will be here..and yes that's outside the rules as they stand but up to 4 weeks ago the rules stated with social distancing and masks I could spend 8 hours with randomers who could behave in any fashion the rest of the time..so I will spend some hours with my family socially distanced...that's it...plenty of room to spread out

And it will happen again - the pubs will open & it'll be bedlam.
The Government is bending under pressure from the Vintners Association ( i.e. Pubs doing their nut about all the money being lost)
I really don't get the fuss. If the pubs open & IF they abide by ALL the rules they'd be better off at home :haha:
No craic just sitting at a table of 4 and not being able to mingle !!!!

:haha: that seems to be the norm in most work places!

Looking forward to a nice quiet Christmas here too. No Christmas parties, bliss. This year our works did a zoom cocktail making session. I guess that was supposed to be instead of the usual shindig. Easier to get out of zoom meetings than the real thing tho.

Vaccine's, as long as they dont make them mandatory then I am happy! Guessing they will make life more difficult for those that choose not to participate though :egad:

Max.......................I like that name. Short and shoutable. Any babysitting wil be gladly given for free. Same goes to Satz. Sorry can't do cats as Mr. Jc's allergic to them

The letter will be going through the doctor's letterbox this morning. Don't envy him on Monday morning. There were a few tweeks .Wonder when he'll reply some time next June and things added and a copy to his big boss.................but we'll have moved tp a new surgery by then.
Trouble is I'll miss their nurses.
Hand on heart I would never, ever gone to these measures but sitting on my backside (and also know a lawyer who can use big words) will change nothing.

As for Chrimbo we haven't a clue. We are a allowed a named person who will be on their own but what about the bloke next door who's on his tod.. I had a cunning plan about every one putting up their gazebos and light their fire pit........................it could work and we could all put in £50 fine in.
And what hacks me off beyond anger is my in-laws is them sitting on there on there tod.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Hey Starty! And jacks and morning all else...I'm sure it won't be mandatory but I'll be queuing up begging! Once Trump went and no likelihood of shenanigans by him in the background I'll be more than happy to take my chances...just want to live normally again.
Your rules sound very complicated Jacks..tho we have no ancients in the family (WE are the ancients:eek-new not so easy when someone is seriously at risk

Our rules are totally ridiculous and make absolutely no sense. All it has done is wind people up against each other. People are even panicking about it out in the country parks ffs. The media /govt has a lot to answer for I think.

Mrs S's mum and dad are ancient (85 ish) and they are totally fed up, just want to get on with their lives. On the plus side they have offered to take us on hols in Feb (if we are allowed out by then) so just trying to book up and have something to look forward to

Good morning everyone. It will be a quiet Xmas but don’t mind that. The only thing I would miss is the lunches and keeping fingers crossed that when we open in a few weeks that we will manage to get a few in. My crochet group are planning it already. Love the name Max, our neighbor had a Max years ago and he was a character.

I won’t know for another month when I have labs and MRI. All indication are that I’m now cancer free. Thank you x
