How many MILLION do they think there are here.
There are teams out in nursing homes at the minute. In ours they did 217 in one day.
That was older people who they need to watch closely. The jab takes 30 seconds.

That jab will be handed over to nurses in nursing homes soon- same as the test - to save manpower & time. I can see everyone done by year end.

There will be 6 different vaccines available in Ireland by May/ June - so unless they sit on their hands .........

Good morning everyone. This is the HSE we are talking about and I am afraid I do not have a lot of confidence in them. I am happy enough to wait as I am not in the front line. Anyone heard from Molly? She has not been on in a few days.

Had another lovely walk this morning and now gearing up to go do the weekly shop. One good thing that has come out of covid is that I am writing a list of dinners for the week and shopping accordingly. Hate to tell you Mary my two still carry on like that.

Evening folks, sometime between April and July for me apparently. Can’t come quickly enough. I have handled this pretty well I feel and have been ultra cautious from day one but honestly it is all starting to wear very thin. In the early days of lockdown I was still drinking daily and ramping it up if truth was told. Unfortunately I can only imagine how many people will come out of the other side of this with a drinking problem. Socially acceptable self medication leading to addictive drinking, it can happen as easily as that. On a positive note I have exactly zero desire to pick up the poison again, I would rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick.

P.s. thanks for the chuckle Bridgeypoos, badly needed.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Ah no Starts - it's getting quite serious out there. For the first time since March I am getting scared of this virus. It appears to have mutated into different more deadly strains.
We were under control over here - but now our hospitals are filling up and we're running out of ICU beds. The death toll is rising.
That didn't happen even in the first wave - and we know more now about staying safe & treatment than we did then.

There are stories emerging now of 'Long Covid' where youngish people are still struggling with the symptoms - 10 months later still wiped out from it.

So I was grateful today I had the vaccine when I heard all this. It seems to be the only thing to stop it now.
And I am confident everyone will get it sooner than later - it is being ramped up.

Oh nearly forgot : I am going for a CT angiogram - had the ECG & ultrasound - so Doc says if I want to go the whole hog - he'll refer me and I'll get 50% with my health insurance.
Ever since a 45 year old, fit & healthy guy in work suffered a stroke and recommended it - I've wanted to get those veins in the heart looked at just in case. It's all about peace of mind these days.
( prob walk under a bus then) :egad:
I want to die healthy :haha:

.
Now i'm sure my meanderings above do nothing to cheer you up
Was the alcohol an anesthetic Tabbs during the first wave ?
As you say many are not coping. The halcyon days of last Summer in beer gardens & having BBQ is a far cry from our stuck -indoors - Irish winter.
Now when the going gets tough ..... the tough get sober .... you are dealing with this latest crapola sober - fair play to you

I second that Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB).. you jumped on the wagon when you could have wallowed + you have been solid every day. You should be very proud of yourself.

No starty, my girls are not near that age, the youngest is only 11 (going on 45). But these are important decisions, as Rustop knows! :culpability:

Hmm, where is Molly?

Morning all,
Just going to have a little peruse. I thought I hadn't seen Molly for a bit.
I've had very few drinking thoughts throughout the pandemic. There is not one thing that would have been better with a skin full. probably more chance of catching it due to drunk carelessness. Let's face it - drinking is more boring than any lockdown, if you are REALLY honest about it.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Oh yeah. With a few pills and some shots, I would’ve started a conga line of Covid positives!

Love that pic Bridge, so true!

Ah Mary, the joys of children :haha: Cannot imagine how hard it must be to be cooped up with arguing siblings. Oney struggles with it too.

Tabbs yes I reckon many will come out of this with more problems than they went in with. I feel so very very lucky that for us, although financially we have been very affected, overall its been a total blessing in many ways but know its not the same for everyone.

Satzy, I know the numbers and the reports of long covid etc. I also think that vax's will be mandatory at some point. I expect life will be made too difficult if one refuses. I have kind of made peace with the fact I may have to have it but I will refuse the Pfizer or Moderna one but have kind of accepted I would take the Oxford/Astra Zeneca.

Thank dog its stopped raining today. I am off for a lovely walk with me long dogger and his ball. Hopefully I will not go a over t on the ice.

Good morning everyone. Just a quick check in before I head off on my walk. Agree with you Tabs and well done on being alcohol free for this lock down.

Do you mind me asking why you would refuse the Pfizer and Moderna ones Starty? Agree it will probably become mandatory especially if people want to travel. For now my trip to the woods will have to do.

No, I dont mind at all. My reasons are possibly quite primative but the Pfizer and Moderna are mRNA vax's and as far as I know, it is unknown what the long term effects might be. I have a bit of a weird immune system and it does overeact to silly stuff and I know there have been reports of reactions. Last time I had a flu jab I ended up having to go to hospital which wasnt nice. The oxford vax uses a weakened bit of the virus to get the immune system to make the antibodies and for some reason, that sits better with me :haha: So these maybe silly reasons but if I HAVE to have it, thats the one I would have. Luckily the AZ is probably the one that would more likely be offered by the time it gets to my turn :hangingmonkey:

We've applied for a few dogs but there are hundreds of prospective animals to rehome after the Christmas rush of 'returned gifts' .

Oh and it snowed again.
It could be worse, I could be filing.
