Re: New Year New Start Army January 2021

    Morning all!

Molls, you are "sounding" much more yourself today which is fab. I have all crossed that Joe is able to sit up and come out of ICU. He is a very lucky man. I cannot imagine how scary this period has been.

Bridge, no, the Starty household is very lucky. No one is in need of medical attention just now. Possibly psychological but thats another story :haha:

Yes, we have a retriever and a lurcher. Casey (Jones) and Fen who are my reason for living. Lurchers are wonderful. Of course they are sighthounds so tend to have a high prey drive and love to chase. Fen has been trained to chase a ball so he is very focused on that and is amazing off lead. Loves to be snuggled and warm and wears pyjamas at night and a jacket and snood in the day when its cold. Not because he is a namby pamby but he is a skinny one with little fur

I imagine that most folk who drink probably have some kind of issue with it. I didnt realise about Graham Norton though? Alistair Cambell I think is sober now. I think the drink nearly drove him to the brink. They say that alkies denial is one of the hardest things to crack. I dont remember every denying I had an issue. I think I was too aware from my dad. And the doc told my mum that as I was a child of an alkie I would be much more likely to become one along with very promiscuous  Thanks doc!

Satzy I am glad Mr S is doing well. He will be walking Rosie in no time. I was able to do 3 miles after 2 weeks and then never looked back. The ice packs were my best friends in the early days

Quick check in. Got the District Nurses here so I have a few minutes to check in. Mr A still just about hanging on He keeps declining and then stabilises. So hard doing this mainly on my own without much help (because of Covid restrictions).
Love to you all I do think of you often X

Great to hear from you Whiz....I think about you all the time...as if all you're going through isn't enough..the Covid restrictions on top must make it almost unthinkable...take care..you do know my number if you ever need a chat...I'm sure youve neither time nor inclination but the offer is real xx
Yup...Poor Starty...you got the worst of me...definitely feeling more in control!
I wonder are you right that most people who drink have some sort of a problem...I think you could be..the only TRULY normal drinker I ever knew was one of my sister's.. would sit over half glass of wine all night and leave it there and go home...but in hindsight...she did the same with food because she had an eating disorder......interesting!!

Good morning everyone. God that was scary Molly, so glad he pulled through. Hopefully he will be soon sitting up and home again. Thanks for checking in Anon, as Molly said we are all thinking of you. This year has certainly brought its challenges and Covid has made everything so much worse. Thankful for the small things, like a beautiful sunrise this morning that I got to enjoy from a warm bed.

Morning from the woman who doesn't even know what month it is so...............I've rearranged Chrimbo for July, St Patrick's day will be sometime in May. Any other public holidays will be on the wall chart as you're leaving or entering the building.. Birthdays can be classed as a public holiday.

                There you are, Our Whizzy.:hug::hug::hug:

Morning Jax. Hope all is good with you?

Mrs A, I really feel for you. Your situation is so difficult to bear but somehow, and I have no idea how, we get through it. I remember when my mum was passing, once I had accepted she was going to go I treated it almost like a military operation which kind of helped me I think. Afterwards not so much as I didnt know what to do with myself and of course, the answer was nothing and allow myself to grieve. My thoughts and prayers are coming your way xx

Maybe he had subsequently changed in which case I'm glad ;-)
Oh he has changed his tune Molls - 'cos he took a drink at Christmas after 8 years sober & it frightened the life out of him. Said he now knows it's always there waiting for a weak moment.
He managed to stop before finishing the second glass & said he felt 'stupid' - for some reason.

That is the worst part Molls -and I really think some concessions could be made.
The visiting room we have has its own entrance from the outside - an entrance from the inside for us & residents and a big ceiling to floor partition.
I don't see why they cannot continue the visits.
It's cruel - it's keeping the home COVID free and maintain their reputation ( if I was cynical ) but at huge cost mentally to the residents. No point just being alive - you want to LIVE your final years..... FFS!
They were all confined to their rooms yesterday.
Except 90 year old ( when am I going home? ) Sarah on ground floor who's a wanderer and was up & down a lonely corridor with only me to talk to......... :egad:

                                Rant over

Molls how is Joe today ?
