Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Morning,
After being approved to adopt a dog from abroad we've found one. He's a 2/3 year old and we get to meet him on Saturday and we can bring him home. And he's called Mikey.............which is what we used to call the S&H when he was young 'un. The phones were red hot last night from calls going backwards and forwards. Would you believe that we thought we'd be getting a dog from Romania or Cyprus and he was rescued just half an hour down the road and living with his foster family about half an hour away as well.

I'm not getting my other cataract done privately....£4K.....we do have a wee bit put by but that's a Hell of a chunk of it and we've got Jenny's wedding next year........no we're not paying for it. We're giving them some money but the rest is being paid by themselves.
I'll wait the 6 months for the NHS catch up and get them to do it. I've just had a chat with my optician and she's going set me up with some glasses to get through the wait.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Good morning everyone. Oh that’s great news JC, amazing that he was just down the road from you. What breed? I had two puppies as guests last night. Very cute and off to homes on Friday. £4K is a lot and if it’s only 6 months and you already have had one eye done, probably best to wait.

I had a walk in the snow too and the dogs loved it. Daughters friends are in Oslo city Mary and she’s across the fjord and with restrictions she can’t go in. Thankfully not working from home which is probably for the best. She went in today and is going to sit down at weekend and see what’s available, throw out a few cv’s and see what sticks. Her friends here have been great. One of them did a zoom exercise class with her last night. Sounded a bit better yesterday. They really are the boomerang generation. If she does come home there will have to be some house rules. Hasn’t lived here in last 10 years and can’t go back to the teenage sibling rows.

And here's the boy wonder. Picking him up on Saturday at about noon. He's the one with the pink leash.

Hi Rustop--My daughter is also in Oslo but as a Nurse gets to see loads of people. Sad thing is if she wants to come back for her Dad (which she does) She has to quarantine in a hotel for 10 days and do the same on the way back into Norway.
JC sorry you have to wait for your NHS cataract operation when mine were only properly diagnosed in November and was listed for January. My eyesight is poor now but it just seems like another thing sent to try me.
Youngest daughter is able to come over tonight to sleep on the couch to enable me to have another night in my bed.
Counting my blessings! (no alternative)
Love to Molly and the rest of you lot

Well Rustop, if your daughter does come home, we can compare notes. Middles birthday today, was lovely. But she is going to break my heart.

Glad your getting another good nights sleep brit. Makes all the difference.

Got some sad news tonight. My friends brother passed away suddenly from Covid. 50s. Really felt like we were getting to the end of this thing.

Puppy photos!!!!

I'm so happy for you JC that you ended up with Mikey instead of a lizard or a tadpole. You are a doggy girl. He is perfect.

Yes the big meeting was about redundancy, Mers. They showed us an organisational chart and we weren't on it. That's how they told us. I actually thought it was quite funny, like something from The Office. Or The Simpsons. Last night I just felt a weight lift off my shoulders. I don't want to work there anyway.
Now I just have to push hard for a good pay out.

Hope everyone is going well as can be expected. I might drop in later.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

BEST outcome EVER !!

I was in exactly the same position - but at least they let me think it was my idea - and the payout was the icing on the cake.
I ate all the icing :haha:

Oh God Mers that's so sad. 50's is too young to die.

There was a harrowing tv programme on RTE investigates on Tuesday - EVERYONE should be made watch it.
Old & young in Tallaght hospital during the surge after the country opened up & everyone went mental at Christmas.
They need to see the outcome of that party or whatever.
(But I don't think it was predicted new strains would come at the same time.)

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the doggie pictures, they brought a smile. Life is simple in their world, exercise, good food and a warm bed, what more do you need. Delighted for you Bridget, enjoy the icing, am sure it will all work out for you.

No snow yet but a wind that would go through you. Got our walk this morning and they are all now stretched out in front of the stove fire. Feel like joining them but a floor scented with puppy pee awaits me.

Morning and waves to the world,
brit......so glad you're getting some respite.

byebyebridgetjones.........exciting times. I see you in your own business as a gardener. The Monty Don of Australia.
Would you believe for my 60th birthday took me to a reptile shop/rescue centre. Mr JC had organised it all with the owner. I got to handle all sorts of snakes and reptiles. I'd have loved a python but they don't half take some looking after and cost a bundle.

Far to young to die, we need to keep reminding people that its still here, its still fatal, its not just 'old' people and for those who catch it and survive its a long recovery.
I know at the beginning I shrugged it of as just the 'flu' and I apologise.

Right I'd better do my roots............Mikey can't meet his new mammy with dark roots.
He's now properly ours...........all the bits that have to been signed have been signed ,paid his health bill check-up, insured, chipped. We just need a bed for him so we'll take him to Pets at Home on Saturday to pick one so he can choose his own.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

No Rosie doesn't tolerate roots either
I'm so very happy for you JC ....... new beginnings.
And a new bed - how exciting.
Ask the foster people for some of his current bedding so that he'll settle in better in his home & bed with a familiar scent. You know this -JC so I'm preaching to the converted.
