I was halfway through sessions with my last counsellor...........the first few I was hungover and usually downed a couple of swift vodkas before I got there. He went on holiday for two weeks and I'd done my last de-tox and had that's when I started to be honest. I stopped swerving issues and became honest.

Pa in law still in the hospital with balloons up his nostrils and they're puzzled. Got to say we're living on nerves and coffee and Sunday dinner was from McDonalds.
Sister in law stayed last night with MIL...........and also she had an overnight emergency gas team as well. Mr JC will be doing tonight.

Afternoon everyone. Good to see you back Molly and fingers crossed for Joes recovery. Your fil too JC. You made some good points above. It was fun until it became a necessity and that certainly wasn’t fun.

A bit of good news............ Pa-in-law is home. They cauterized both nostrils. He's not allowed any hot drinks for at least five days just in time for Ma-in-laws birthday on the 11th.

Snowed on and off all day. Its very picturesque but it must be a nightmare for anyone driving.

Delighted to hear your FIL is home[MENTION=7008]JackieClaire[/MENTION], and maybe Joe is out of the woods too Molly? Amazing what a day does.
After 10 months of being scared to death of leaving the house in case they catch covid, my inlaws seem to be recovering nicely. Amazing, they had themselves dead and buried.

Good question [MENTION=9094]satz123[/MENTION]. Id have to agree with Molly, I loved it too. But I had kids I couldnt let down, a husband I didnt want to disappoint, as well as all the other things YS has, but maybe thats not enough. I would long for days that I could let loose without any responsibility, without anyone looking at me. He has that in spades. No guilt. Who's he hurting only himself.

Great that he's in the system now. Maybe something will click.

Its been trying to snow all day. A very FRESH day!

After 10 months of being scared to death of leaving the house in case they catch covid, my inlaws seem to be recovering nicely. Amazing, they had themselves dead and buried.

Good morning--Good news Mary about the in-laws and an all round great post.
I hope all the the sick bay patients are doing OK

I had a hospice nurse overnight which meant a nights sleep for me. Mr A battling on-- his life expectancy was until November 2020 but he is determined to stay around. He is completely bed bound and and no quality of life. In pain and frightened but will not give in. I am exhausted!

Aw MsA that's so tough. I wonder what he is waiting for. I believe in that - we go when we decide eventually. I know this sound airy fairy. But look for signs. Is it maybe he's expecting the girls home ?
Maybe make a 3/4 way call - let him hear their voices ?
I know my MIL waited & waited 'till her last daughter arrived. I was in the room - she went 3 minutes after Mary arrived and she was in a coma.

But you are a nurse - you've seen death more than once - so ignore all of the above if you need too. :hug:

Funny you should say that..I'd forgotten..my mum had a massive coronary when visiting my sister in wexford ..my BIL rang me to say not to drive madly as she couldn't survive...he then told her in her ear that me and my sister were coming from Dublin...by jaysus she survived...mind you..not only that..she survived for another 3 years...thinking of you MrsA...horrible time for you both xx

Agree with your post Mary..they say you need to get sober for yourself..but I have to say my dream at the time was for them all to leave me alone and let me 'enjoy' myself...if I had been totally unaccountable like YS would I have found getting sober as easy? Not sure

Totally get you Tabbers. I'm in the same situation with work. They have buggered us around no end on this and now it's all happening all of a sudden. Two day's notice to get to a really important meeting about it. They probably think we can't see through it. FFS.

I think of you a lot Brit and how exhausted you must be. It's years of it, isn't it? I hope you've got the support to get as much rest as you can.

I used to love the 'freedom' of drinking like a naughty irresponsible child as well. My way of telling the world to F off. I sure got them!
If I'd been married, I can tell you I surely wouldn't be now! Only another alcoholic would put up with that kind of shit in the long term.

I ordered myself a lovely lot of seed so that if I do get the boot tomorrow I'll have some lovely things to keep me busy in the garden whilst unemployed. Yay!

Afternoon everyone. My heart goes out to you too Brit. Some great advice there from JC. Glad your in-laws are ok Mary, also your FIL JC. Nice to get some good news. This year just seems to keep giving. Daughter in Norway breaking up with boyfriend. His decision, not hers . They had been fighting but she was willing to work on it but he wasn’t. Not sure what is going to happen. She’s in bits and totally isolated because of COVID. All I can do is support from a distance and not drink, that’s the most important thing.

Hello everyone! I did post earlier but it said it was not allowed for some reason (timed out)

Got Macmillan involved earlier on and they are great on symptom management so often tweak the pain meds

Hospice Nurse coming tonight to enable me to sleep.

I also have cataracts and was listed for surgery in January but it will have to wait until all this is over.

I am worn out but coping!

Thank you Satz for posting the link about that guy who had one drink after a long stint of sobriety. Made me feel not such an idiot

Morning all - off out in the snow with Rosie. I managed to get her to still still for a photo - I'll post later.
