Re: Spring Army Manoeuvres - March 21

Morning.
Spent a mammoth amount of time on the phone with my bezzie mate.............her cat (Sydney) has been in the animal hospital all weekend and was beside herself with worry. He came home last night and they still don't know what's wrong with him but my friend will probably need resuscitation when she gets their bill.

satz123........we've had both. The one that looks like a giant carrier bag is amazing.........we had one of those when they did the kitchen. Its amazing the weight they can carry. When they took the first one was taken away I was expecting everything to fall out of the bottom.
Skips are good for men to lean against and talk to the neighbours.

byebyebridgetjones.......congratulations on the new job. Nice to feel wanted isn't it? I love nurses on top of everything else they're translators of what doctors say.
Can you put me down for two skips..........we've still got the loft to do.

Enjoy you walks Satz and Whizzy. Me and Mikey will be going out around lunchtime.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Evening everyone. Hope all of you enjoyed your walks. Looked beautiful out today, I was on the early shift, walked at 6 am before work. Glad to have working week over. Public holiday here tomorrow but won’t make much difference. Walk planned for tomorrow morning and that is it. Feet up now in front of fire with book.

Yes confirmation YS is back on the sauce ..... FFS!!
He actually told us he drank instead of that denial SHITE & said he felt stupid & would be out to us as soon as he get thru the few days of 'coming off it'.
Ever the optimist I hope against hope that each relapse is getting him closer to stopping completely.
OR

I must accept that this will be his life & stop fighting it.
That he's the drunk in the family - the one everyone pities.
The one who misses Christmas , birthdays, Mother's day .......
The one who will be out in the street when his Nan's house is sold.
The one that stupidly worries about a rash on his hand & I have to tell him things will start to give soon if he continues to pour poison down his throat.
The body can only take so much before it starts to break down.
The one who is only 40 this year and as bright as a button when he is not drinking & could have been a great journalist.

How sad is that ?

Very sad. Have one of these  we cannot live their lives for them and it is so so hard seeing them hurt or in his case hurting himself. Look after yourself and the lovely Rosie and lean on us any time you feel the need.

Jesus, Satz. It's so hard to watch, isn't it? Much harder than being 'the one' yourself. At least then you can check out with alcohol or drugs.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Very hard to watch satz123, really sorry to hear that. What was the trigger, the new job? Of course you do have to accept it, but you can be realistic as well as being optimistic. Sometimes it takes many many tries. The main thing is, he's not giving up.

Bridge, never boring.. keep posted on the work stuff!

Thanks JC, day off tomorrow for some begorra and Top of the morning to ya..

So sorry to hear about YS Satz. So sad to watch one of your children go through this horrible disease.

Thank you so much Jackie for your generous donation to the hospice at home that helped me to keep Stan at home and enabled me to be with him as he died in his own house.

Managed to sleep all night so feeling a bit stronger this morning.

Off for a walk in a bit

Hi all,

So glad that you had a good kip Brit, nothing better to make you feel more able to face the day x

So sorry Satz. BUT it does sound like he is moving more towards quitting but so hard to watch failure after failure.

Last day at work for a bit thank dog. I am finding my job less interesting and more hassle lately. I think I am getting more ready to quit the rat race as time passes.

Morning and Happy Saint Patrick's Day.

My mum would have been 88 today...she was 71 when she died...being frank about it she drank herself to death.

satz123..........I'm so sorry, darling. You have been a fantastic mother to him and my heart goes out to you. It has to come from him. Sobriety doesn't drop into our laps we have to work at it until it becomes the new norm for us.

brit......you're more than welcome.

IamMary..............I remember seeing them on Britain's Got Talent and howling laughing.

Need to service mine too, NCT is due. Its a travelling skip most of the time.
This would have been a fantastic St Patricks day, the weather was gorgeous! normally its cold and wet
Nice day anyway, stroll on the beach with a bag of chips.

Sleep makes everything a little bit easier brit. Have you much to do for Friday? Whats the situation for funerals over there, probably limited with numbers like ourselves..

Feels like a Sunday.

Morning all! Lots of talk about dog thefts this morning and reports of local attempts and incidents. I have been getting more and more stressed about it all. But have taken some steps to keep us as safe as possible. I have bought an alarm, a carabiner to attach to the lead, not walking the same route regularly and making sure the dogs are not left alone in the garden. I also make sure the doors are locked at all times. It is really shit that we have to do this stuff to protect ourselves and our animals from scrotes but there it is
