Re: Army May 2021

Minnie is about the size of a teeny Yorkie.

When I take the dog out I have rubber gloves, a few sheets of kitchen roll, poo bags, and a bottle of hand wash. I'm taking no chances.

This morning I had the bright idea of having a drive along the coast, stopping for fish and chips , a little bit of a walk and come home. Its hissing down..............but we're still going but might stay in the car.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Don't believe a word of it MrsA:harhar: I've seen some shockers being performed by small and mighty alike... ;-) joking aside tho -- I know youse all love dogs madly -- and believe me I wouldn't hurt an animal or see one being hurt for all the tea in China -- but lord jesus don't get one unless you are gagging for one.. they upheave everything in your life - it's like being back at the baby stage all over again - and even tho I do sort of love Max I would hand him back in a heartbeat!

Evening. Lashed rain all day, dried up for a little run, then rained again.

Mr M got the 1st vaccine today. As did his sister who had a bit of a reaction, fainted, but grand then.
End of exciting day

Morning all - not sure of the weather

A question - why has dog poo now become LETHAL to human kids when we all played as kids around it ?
When dog & man have lived together for 1000s of years ?
Poo bags unheard of ?

..... off to the workhouse :llama:

Good morning ,raining again but still going to get out of the house.

Although I do quite like dogs I really wouldn't want one.

I spent a great deal of time nursing and looking after a terminally ill husband and it is only 9 weeks since he died. I feel I couldn't look after anyone else. It is hard enough looking after myself, although I do have great support.

Agree with you entirely MrsA...this is your time now...for you..and it's not like you've no hobbies or you don't get up and out..seems to me you've plenty in your life when you feel up to it:heartbeat:
Not the same reason obviously..but as I said before ..I reared 4 kids and feel seriously aggrieved being trapped by a dog..however I've plans made for hols with Jilly and various things cos otherwise I would just be stuck at home moaning!!

Good morning everyone. Wet one here too but not as bad as yesterday and got out for my walk so feel better. Only use the doggie bags if in built up area, up in the woods it’s a different story and they seem to know to go off the path and into the Forrest. Pet hate, people who pick up and then hang their plastic bag on trees at the entrance to the woods.

Great to have things to look forward to, going to a furniture store today, the excitement. Catch you all later.

Understand completely. You come first, your health comes first and you are in our hearts. :heartbeat:

We've had dogs in my life since before I appeared.

Our lovely drive down the coast was just a long drive sitting in the car watching it rain and by the time we got back, the fish and chip shop was shut. Tbh it was rather enjoyable.........we drove past all the places Mr. JC worked in, passed the curry house we had our first date and saw this mahoosive holiday ship liner. It was so big it was jaw-dropping. Prolly parked there until they open up the holidays again.

I love drives like that, just watching the world pass by.
Mr M has become v distracted lately, not concentrating on the road, so Ive take over the wheel.

Excitement of the day............we're off to pick up my engagement ring. Haven't been able to wear it for years .................firstly my fingers got fat and secondly the opals started coming loose from their clasps (or whatever they're called) . Now we've found a man who can. I can't wait to wear it again.

And Jenny and Ads will be coming to get fed. They're off to a Euro party tonight.................I will be going to bed.

It'll be three days per week and I am GAGGING for it to start. They will get 21 hours of my time per week, then I'm out. De-investment time

I like your thinking, investing in yourself, no one is going to do that for us!
If Mr M is 56 then he will be in the same head space as me. Time to start being fair to ourselves. Not that it shouldn't be that way for all age groups!

Very true about the investing in ourselves Mary and Bridget. Nobody else will do it and I think us women invest maybe a bit too much in our families. Hard not to but I see my neighbor who was a real Irish Mammy but now she’s gone they are doing fine. Ok they miss her but are getting on with it.
That's exactly it, Rusty. They might miss us but we will be gone and they will eventually go on their way too. That's as it should be. But we're entitles to make the most of our time here too.

I turned two years sober a couple of days ago and I think that might have something to do with all this. The last two years have been about putting one sober foot in front of the other. Now I think maybe it's time to push that agenda a bit further and enhance the outlook a bit more. Take the next steps. I'm really excited actually.

So excited that I'm going to leave this amazing chicken Tom Yum soup that I made on JCs new kitchen counter.

I honestly believe it has healing properties.

1 Chicken breast cubed (maybe firm tofu for vegos)
1 tablespoon of Tom Yum paste
Chicken stock
1 tablespoon of chicken stock powder (Massel is good)
One onion chopped and sauteed in olive oil
Grated garlic and ginger to taste (lots)
Squeeze of lime juice
1.5 litres of water

Could not be simpler but boy it's yum

Into a large boiler. Saute onion garlic and ginger, then add the rest and simmer for 30 minutes.

I admire you so much for your strength brit
