    Re: Army May 2021

Morning all. I was out walking too. Got the hair done the other day and got it short, short. Feels so good. My neighbor does it so got in ahead of the posse. Getting the eyebrows done on Tuesday. They are patch testing everyone because of the vaccine for some reason.

Hope you get the arthritis sorted JC. Have you any pain in the hands or just swelling? Great feeling of achievement when you decorate Starty. Deserve to put the feet up today. Stirly had a lot going on the last time she checked in but you do worry about people when they just disappear.

Hey Starty -- it is warm today -- weird warm air with cloudy skies... love the warmth tho -- that in itself is a 'cure' for arthritis ;-) -- d'ya know -- I've had it so long I actually had to think about what changes I made 'back then' -- it was a really big deal to me - in my 30's -- extremely fit - and I virtually felt disabled --- however -- as I say - dietary (I'm reluctant to say changes -- ) add ons --- definitely oily fish -- I eat salmon or mackeral - or anchovies when I can get them at least twice a week - if I don't - I notice. I add turmeric to a lot of things -- I don't much like it - mainly cos it stains my teeth - but it helps -- and then -- fresh fruit - berries -- always eating berries -- in the winter - I just get bags of frozen ones rather than importing them from foreign parts -- and fresh veg... - it's just how I eat now tho --- and of course - sugars aren't the best - but if I'm gagging for a bit of choc -- feck that -- life's too short! - I occasionally will take an anti-inflammatory -- ibuprofen usually -- but only if I know I'm hurting that day and I'm going to have a very busy day at work... like you Starty - hate taking things with no benefit -- if I could smoke an aul joint and it'd make me feel better -- that'd be GREAT :victorious:

My little private garden is coming on a storm -- the gate will be going up tomorrow and then --- that's it!!! all mine - NO ONE allowed in except by invite -- :congratulatory:

Patch testing cos of the vax?? Wonder what thats about ......

No fish for me but do try and take other oils and seeds. And turmeric. I have a bio fermented turmeric with probiotics that isnt too bad. Problem is I dont remember to take it regularly. Defo lots of fruit and veg and as little sugar as possible but like you say, life's too short sometimes so do enjoy a pig out on occasion. I take ibuprofen mostly and the strong doc stuff only when its really bad. Yes, was gutted when they told me and more than disappointed that it hurts when I walk as that is my enjoyment but I will try different things to manage it and embrace the ageing process. I was telling the girls this morning how much I love sitting up the garden in the sun. Used to hate it but now I love it. Just dreaming away

Garden sounds fab and delighted you have found a compromise so all can be happy

            Morning ish.
Darkness into light........what a beautiful way to describe depression and what a fabulous charity. Will they have another bash later this summer.
Not sure if it is arthuritus (I know it arthritis but its what my Gran used to call it and its just stuck over the decades).
So turmeric, cod liver oil to start.
Its odd that we've always given our dogs a tin of sardines (the oily version) once a week and its only been in their very old age they've had problems.
I'd better go ring Jenny haven't spoken to her in over a week.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Morning Jax. I have my boys on turmeric and flax seed concoction. Seems to do them good as they are pretty lively

They also have fish too and are raw fed which I think is good and natural for them.

I didn't realise you feed them raw...Max is raw fed as well...the lovely lady we got him from is a great advocate of it..but vets aren't keen..wasn't myself at the beginning but I see the benefits alright!
Your grannies 'arthuritis' was my uncle Conors 'goggle '.....'do the goggle on that Molly'....I sometimes say it at work for the laugh but think the young'uns may look pityingly at me now that I'm ancient!

                    Re: Army May 2021

Fed it years ago then stopped for some reason. Now been on it for a few years now. My vet is fine. He said it suits some dogs and not others. So quite pragmatic really. The change in them in phenomenal so although its not always pleasant its good for them and I LOVE the variety they get. Much happier both of them.

Well just reading others experiences with feeding pups this seems pretty perfect really...it's easy..he loves it and his coat is extraordinary..it absolutely gleams...and despite vet saying she had 'reservations' she also said he was the picture of health so we'll take that...it is expensive tho.

My garden is now done bar the shouting so spent a couple hours weeding and pulling out old ivy and stuff..really enjoyed it..going to relax now..feet up with my book...laters xx

I have found a very reasonably priced complete raw. Some are incredibly expensive and we used to use them til we got poor but these seem good and they love em. I used to do DIY until I couldnt bare to spend another morning chopping massive livers and lungs. Too hard for a virtual vegan

Have been gardening and clearing myself this arvo. Knackered and still loads to clean up Love love love this semi retirement lark

Oh I couldn't imagine the worry of DIY...and the handling....no! Triona (the lady we got Max from...raves about the complete from this company....she comes up from West Kerry once a month specially to get it cos they don't deliver..so it'd be rude not to:congratulatory:
In truth it's not dramatically more than d'other stuff so I'll suck it up!!!
If this garden works out for me I think I will retire sooner than later...I'm so excited about it so I really get what you're saying!!!!
                          Right...dinner

When I think of retiring I sometimes worry I will be bored. But its amazing what you have the energy to do if not working. How big is your garden?

The garden itself is quite big -- think it's about 3/4 acre... but the area Joe is fencing off is small -- it's like say the size of a big patio -- but it's got walls - so I can plant high as well as flat -- already have some nice climbers in there so the basics are there -- there's also an old stone bbq built in down there so it's functional - and a teeny wee pond... it truly has me very excited -- browsing seed catalogues all evening -- the flagstones down there are pretty grotty looking but I'm going to grow fragrant herbs through the flagstones so it'll smell nice when you walk on them -- my retirement is full already:welldone:

I can't imagine that you with your dogs and your liking for gardening that you could be bored -- you must live in a lovely place as well -- any photo's I see when you walking your dogs looks fab! Nope I've no fear of boredom I have to say -- not anymore.. maybe when I was much younger I would have been aggrieved at not having money to 'do' things -- these days -- happy to do nothing - once I have a book to hand I'm entertained anyway!

It sounds wonderful! Like a little cottage garden. I LOVE walls too. Sounds weird but on my walks I am always checking out old walls and the plants that grow in them

I am not a gardener really. I have a few pots and 4 tomato plants that I am desperately trying not to kill But we do have a nice garden and I enjoy tidying it up when the weather's nice. Mainly lawn and a big hedge and a couple of patios with the bird feeders on. And of course my dogs keep me very busy which is great. Yes I am happy if I have a good series. Trying to get into reading too. I have heard that Jane Fallon writes good stories so going to try one of hers I think. At the moment I am reading about a nurse in the 1970s which is quite entertaining
