Re: Army May 2021

Hi Army. I am going to be away for a week or so. Leaving tomorrow with some old military friends I was in Reserve Officer Training Corp with. These guys are tough and season adventure seekers. Heading to Lake Tahoe for some wilderness hiking, camping and other forms of insanity. Deep snow and cold temps await but I’m bringing an extra pair of underwear, Haha. We are also taking some tech climbing gear. Some of the climbs will be technically difficult so I wanted to give the MWO statistician a heads up. I’ll be fine and will see you in a week or so. I really really need this break. Love you x

Safe travels Techie. Sounds challenging, hope you enjoy. Going to Connemara and Galway Molly. Enjoy Kerry. Isn’t it great to be moving again.

oh it's super -- and the lovely part of not drinking is that neither of us are caring the pubs aren't open - I wouldn't mind being able to have a few dinners out but we'll get take-outs and cook fancy grub and all -- very excited -- I love all the West -- Galway Connemara also gorgeous -- we'll probably be that direction in July -- I'm loving Ireland the last two years... as I get older I've less and less interest in hot sun.. just hot enough to swim and then I'm happy.. hope you have a great time!

and you Techie -- hope it's fabulous for you -- sounds exciting -- you've had a tough time so you deserve it!

We're heading to Kenmare in June :yay:
The place is called after pigs or something.
MrS wanted to go so he got voucher for DD for Christmas & for me for my birthday. Of course he & son-in-law to be are tagging along ....
I'm so happy the pubs will be still closed. But outdoor dining will be back.

Got it :
The Happy Pig

Run by 2 mad wans I think with a fetish for pigs ..

Its the same over here JC. not all teachers mind you, just the ones with 6th years. not easy.

Under the stairs, hiding in plain sight. The same vodka and gin bottles would go up and down, refilled and drank. The extra bottles of wine were well hidden.

Hit a few shops with the girls this evening, it was lovely.

Bridge, you are describing MrM's work environment too (also almost 56, twins :happy2, I think the disengaging tactic might be an idea.
I like your thinking, investing in yourself, no one is going to do that for us!

Good morning everyone, although nothing good about it here, absolutely lashing rain. I have not even ventured out in it for my walk.

Very true about the investing in ourselves Mary and Bridget. Nobody else will do it and I think us women invest maybe a bit too much in our families. Hard not to but I see my neighbor who was a real Irish Mammy but now she’s gone they are doing fine. Ok they miss her but are getting on with it.

Raining and miserable here, so glad I had my big hike in the Clwydian hills yesterday in the sunshine.

Loved our holidays in Ireland but I think our favourite holidays were on Valentia Island. Loved the west as it was absolutely fabulous.

One of great things about this forum is finding out how we all did the same sneaky things especially hiding the evidence.

I heard someone say on tv this morning one of the hardest things she found on the loss of her husband, was that she missed having someone to do nothing with. Exactly one of the worst feelings I am going through. A big trigger to drink for me each evening. So I take myself off to bed with snacks and watchTV. This really helps me.
Off to buy a new shower!

Morning and waves to the world,

brit............I may have said this before but the year after my uncle died my Aunt wore his dressing gown and his slippers over her clothes when she was in the house. After nearly a year my cousin picked her up ...........shoved her in her car took her took the nearest dog rescue place where Minnie was brought into her life. The first thing Minnie did was fall asleep in my uncle's old slipper once the nap was over the dressing gown was chewed and made into another bed. Because she had to take Minnie out she started talking to people. .........well people would talk about the dog but her fear had gone.
You're never going to believe this but my Aunt takes her crochet, book, biscuits and Minnie and watches TV upstairs from about 8:30pm.
But she has now flies to the US every year for a month (not this year of course) to see her son and twin granddaughters, she's joined a crochet/craft club. And she has her daughter and her four and at Christmas this year she's going to become a Great Grandma.

Vodka. Our fitted wardrobe has a gap so could squeeze 3 bottles in there, under the kids beds in their lego box (they'd long outgrown it) and every so often I put them in a carrier bag and do a quick run to the bus stop and put the empties in the bin beside the bus stop and praying none of the neighbours saw me. I use to live in fear they'd take my DNA and track me down for not put it into the recycling.
And tbh Mr JC would have a couple of glasses of wine and (tbh he gave up trying to change me) and the rest for me so they went into the proper recycling bin.

Didn't get much sleep last night as I had a gippy tummy again.

I do have some good news ( I heard the sighs) Jenny and Ads are getting their vaccine next week.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

My non-problem heart saga goes on. Now CT shows a small amount of blockage in one area so I'm to get an Angiogram to get a better look. He said the CT scan 'over estimates things' - FFS.
My greatest fear is a stroke or heart attack in a public place (morto) so I will suck up the cost & get it done I suppose.
To have a stroke & be chair / bed bound with no quality of life , being fed, toileted by teenagers till I'm 90 does not appeal to me.

Cider vinegar folks apparently keeps plaque at bay in the blood vessels. So I'll start back on that.

Lovely story @JackieClaire
Even though he didn't want a dog - MrS constantly says he'd be lost without Rosie when I'm working. Says she's great company. Especially during lockdown when he could do nothing but walk.
And even at holiday time / wedding etc the kids next door LOVE to take her......

You can see where we're going with this MsA
