Re: Army June 2021

Hmm, maybe Gerard the tow guy is also a talented Warning Sign remover! :headscratch:

Bridge, I am really sorry to hear about your Uncle, thats very sad

Sounds like your having a ball starty! No, Mr M is not a builder, IT, which he hates. He has a woodwork side business with 2 friends which they all love.. maybe one day they will all do it full time. He's a decent DIYer..
We were out last night too, not quite the same odds as you, 3 drinking out of 6 - and of those 3, it nothing mad. So good to be able to hug and hang out!

Rustop and Molly, that is a lovely problem to have, deciding what to do next. There;s no wrong decision and you might not get it right first time. My folks moved to skerries and never looked back.. best move they ever made. They did it just before my dad retired, so young enough to get involved in stuff. They were just sorry they didnt do it earlier.

I am beyond shattered, hitting the hay. Great post Tabbers, i'll be thinking about that as I nod off..

Re: Army June 2021

Good morning. Sorry to hear about your uncle Bridget, sad times.

I hated Killarney it was such a letdown after the beautiful towns and villages in Kerry.

Glad to hear you had the vaccine Starty, I remember you were really unsure as you had a reaction after previous vaccinations.

My weekend in The Lakes was sad but so glad I went as it brought back so many good memories.

Off for a walk in a bit.

Morning all --- and MrsA -- of course it was sad -- but happy memories as well... that's gold dust really -- wonderful to see you dipping your toe in the water again... I'm sure it'll be hard for a long time - but maybe a little less hard after time... enjoy your walk ;-)

Yes I suppose it is a lovely problem to have Mary- and I sometimes think I'm making problems for myself -- I'm adamant I don't want to live on the east coast -- if I would be happy in Skerries or Wexford or some such it would be much easier!!! Nope --- --- how and ever --- just spotted a PEACH of a wee house in (of all places!!) Leitrim -- it's over on the Atlantic coast part of the county tho -- just a few mins from Mullaghmore.... my eyes lit up when I spotted it last night.... leaving it in the capable hands of himself -- one advantage of going to work -- you can hand over all the jobs ;-)

How's everyone? Yes Benjy the puncture was after a bridge and just on a bend -- when we went back and saw it - it's no wonder there's a few punctures a day -- we drive very cautiously round there ever since!!!

Joe has just brought Max off for a play date -- oh latherin heart -- when he told me that I just collapsed laughing -- ffs -- don't think he ever brought any of the kids on play dates!

I doubt ol' Gerard's in any hurry to raise the issue with local council. :cell:

Sorry to hear the sad news of your Uncle Bridgey. Take it easy and safe travels.

Afternoon everyone. As Molly says it will be like that for a long time Brit but well done on making the effort and enjoy your walk.

Killarney is too touristy for my liking but there is a real friendliness in the west that is hard to beat. If it is meant to be it will not pass you Molly.

Typing this from my phone so will check that link later Fickle. Waves to everyone else.

Only got the audible page too fickle. I use audible too so looking forward to the recommendation!

Molly, we love Leitrim, have gone so many times with the kids, great places to cycle, boats on the shannon, Lough key forrest park - we have gone there more than any other place in ireland - I get the attraction!
Lovely to be reminded of all the great memories brit.

Getting a renovation done in our kitchen. 4 builders later and 1 got a response, finally, from 1, after hounding him. Just to say hes working on a quote! Im at this for months! Builders are snowed under and materials have gone through the roof

Just a quick check in to see how all are going. Heading off tomorrow morning early for the great trek North.

We find here that builders don't want the small jobs and will make you wait Mary. And wait we do! Then they charge an arm and a leg.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Afternoon everyone.

Safe travels Bridget, hope the trip is not too stressful for you.

Good luck with the kitchen Mary. Love the idea of new kitchen but dread the thought of having builders in. Believe prices have gone through the roof for construction. Don’t know if it’s Brexit or Covid causing it.

Thinking of you @JC, hope you are ok?

Absolutely beautiful out so looking forward to getting outside for a while after work.

Damn and I checked the link was working... its William Porter's "Alcohol Explained 2: Tools for a Stronger Sobriety"

I'm riding high on sobriety again at last thanks to William. He completely re-frames how to think about alcohol so that it just isn't a problem any more. I've already listened to his book twice and know that whenever I'm 'having thoughts' in future I will go back to it. It has everything laid out in chapters so you can go directly to whatever you need in the moment.

I started with this 30 min youtube clip from a few years ago: William Porter - Alcohol Explained - YouTube and he has weekly Friday night live sessions from the UK that he posts as well on his youtube channel. In one of his talks he said it didn't matter if you hadn't read the first book, so I just jumped in to the second. I'm so glad to have found him. It doesn't matter now much you know, it is always amazing to find someone who can speak explain things so clearly.

Wishing everyone a great day/evening ahead and safe driving Bridget xoxo

Hi folks, Fickle delighted as I read your last post, WP certainly makes sense of the cycle of problem drinking and as you say, in such plain english. So much of it resonates with me, when hearing how the anxiety, the disturbed sleep and the simple truth of changing how we perceive AL to seeing it for what it actually is and does to people is beautifully simple.
I would highly recommend you also check out Kate Bee, I listen to her talking so much sense on YouTube, even though she focuses only helping ladies the truth is the same for us guys too when it comes to AL and I get a lot from her.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Thats what im afraid of Bridge, and Rustop is right, prices have gone through the roof (excuse the pun). Direct labour is an option, but it might drag this out for months and months.

Totally shattered, another crap sleep!

Safe trip Bridge, check in when you can!
