Re: Army June 2021

Hiya everyone and the absent JC?

The funeral was truly 'lovely' for a lovely, lovely man. I will miss him very much. It was held in a surf club in a coastal village. The entire glass wall folded out and the day was perfect winter sun glinting on the ocean. The sound of the surf rolled in all the way through the service and when we looked up, can you believe a whale breached? Dolphins everywhere. It was almost a thing of fantasy.
Today was my 56th birthday. A few tears for my uncle while I worked.

You know, I touched the lid of his urn and thought - if this is all it comes down to on the physical plane, I bloody well better get on and start caring for my soul better. I think that might have been his final gift to me.

Anyway, I'll spare you the unedited version of my thoughts on the long drive home. As above, Satz. It brings it all home!

So glad to hear you're on track again Fickle.

Hope you are OK JC.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Good night Bridget and Fickle and waves to everyone else. Glad funeral went well and I am sure that you had time to have a good think on the long drive home. God that show sounds horrendous Satz, don’t think I will be putting it on my list.

Had two walks this morning. Brought the doggies first and then went with my crochet group and we had lunch outside. Beautiful day again and it was nice to be able to enjoy it.

byebyebridgetjones I had exactly the same thought when my Dad was buried many moons ago - I've been searching since for something to make sense besides a man with a beard 'up there' .....
I've decided that the physical just dies but the essence of who we are ( the soul ?) lives on - just not sure how or where. That's a work in progress.

But Mers & Rustop I think we need to watch this stuff because :

• Shows how hard healthcare people work - while we are banging around moaning about crap.
• The human side of doctors as they fight for their patients for a bed - or cry with them when bad news is delivered.
• I for one realise how lucky I am not to have any illness at all.
• Reminds me how fickle (!) life is - and we should make the most of it. In the words of the great man ( Bob ) that none of Band Aid wanted to sing

"tonight thank God it's them instead of you "

Off to the workhouse. :llama:

Thank you for the birthday cake Satzy!!!
And the lovely thoughts everyone. I actually don't think I would voice that anywhere else.

I spend a lot of time kidding myself that I've got a handle on life but I don't. I've realised I don't have a clue how to take care of my soul. I've taken some stabs over the years but I think I was just being a follower really? I've never been one to swallow the concept of the bearded gent either Satz. Anyway I'll put the antennae up and see what comes in.

As for our health - I think that and time are the greatest resources a human being can have.

Anyone looking for a foreign film that's good for the heart, I saw The Mole Agent recently. Recommend.

Happy belated birthday Bridge -- sure yer only a CHILD ;-) -- another important thing I've learnt about life is that everything is relative !

Oh the man with the long beard -- I have no religion -- until I need 'something' -- or 'someone' -- just to talk to in my head -- and then -- do I believe in a 'god' or an 'afterlife'? fuck knows.... but I do know that I talk to my long dead mum all the time -- mostly asking favours I have to admit but I always try and remember to thank her cos I really REALLY just know there's some of her out there somewhere watching over me and mine.... weird nonsense I s'pose -- but Catholicism??? I spit on it... as in the church - the organisation --

Am wondering now about Jackie -- it's good imo to take an old break from here to freshen up really - but this is a long time for her -- if you're reading missus -- thinking of you x

Had a great day yesterday and that's another thing that's rare in life --- Joe is fully vaccinated and hopefully I'll be right on his tail -- and - it's very hard to get a permanent teachers post here in Ireland -- loads of fixed contracts and subbing -- but permanent is gold dust -- and Jilly got herself a post yesterday -- I'm so happy for her -- she's had a tough old time - - but now she can properly plan her future --- mortgages etc... great day!!

Right -- must go read my book - it's the most energetic thing I'm doing today -- great book -- last in the series of the books that 'the last kingdom' is based on -- it's so good! I will be actually tearful tho when I finish it..

laters gaters -- I hope you ALL have a great day xxxx

Afternoon everyone. Very good points Satz and I have to keep reminding myself during this pandemic that there are some people going through so much, our doctors and nurses to name just a few. Might watch on a rainy Saturday, prefer mindless stuff on Netflix before I go to sleep.

Another beautiful day, spent the morning in the garden and just back from walking the doggies down by the river. They grow up very fast Mary, enjoy the peace and quiet while you have it.

Good morning--rainy day today feels fresh.
I may be able to go to Norway as my daughter rang me last night, to let me know that double vaccinated parents of adult children are going to be allowed in!
Off for a Sunday run.
