Re: Army July 2021
Oooooo....garden talk. I click and collected some soil today for a garden makeover and re-plant. Absolutely lovely day and found a long coveted David Austin rose as well. Doesn't take much to make gardeners happy. I'd be devastated about that beautiful childhood garden JC. I only have grass for the dog or it would all be garden.
I hope the SIL interactions are managed Satz. As for YS, that is exactly why I drank. I was bored senseless with pubs and what not. God I wish I'd had the self knowledge to just opt out of the whole social game and realise early that it's OK to be a homebody. Years wasted. Your wedding outfit sounds just lovely.
I can also relate to the secret drinking there Rustop.
Ok I'm off to the bed time routine and up into the garden at dawn tomorrow.
Night all!If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Re: Army July 2021
Good afternoon everyone. Not much to say or add today.
So glad it has cooled down a bit.
I have a gardener now as I cannot manage the garden.
Satz I hope the wedding goes OK and the boy behaves himself.
Going to have a sleep on the couch now as it is 1 pm and I have been up since 4 am

Poor YS, hes probably stressed off his head satz123. Well its a wedding, everyone is. Will he make it through the day without getting completely rat arsed?
I was the sneaky drinker too
What colour is the dress/shoes Satz?? need more details please.
Stayed in ballymacarby a few years back too Molly. Great spot, we took the bikes and did the greenway most days. Great spot.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Here's what's happening in my life :
The big day is on Friday & we're in full wedding / bridezilla mode. :egad:
- Shoes : check
- Dress : check
- Hat : check (fab pink I got made by a girl in Skerries)
- Spanks to get the flab into said dress : check ( men : go to Goggle)
- And that's just ME !
It's all a pain in the arse. I HATE fuss & having to dress up and be nice to everyone for hours on end :haha:.....
Down side :
- House is a tip - and SIL was invited to stay on Saturday - day 2 of the wedding extravaganza nonsense.
- YS is drinking but insisting on going to the wedding
- Went with him to get a suit etc , he had been drinking and was obnoxious in the shop.
He gets so 'full of himself' & kinda arrogant when he is drinking. I'm thinking that is why he drinks ... when sober he is so plassid - wouldn't say boo. He's been quiet & shy from childhood. His sister was the noisy one
He likes, what he thinks, is the confidence that alcohol gives him ..... he was positively 'strutting' in the Shopping Centre and being derogatory about others there.
He is very like me in so many ways. I've told him we NEED to conform if we want to live in a structured society.
I've told him to take off & live in Greece in some little village by the sea and just BE.... but here he has to conform like the rest of us.
Also DD used to say I was argumentative when drinking - I thought I was just saying what I REALLY thought but came across as argumentative. I still believe that if I'm honest.
I guess a lot of us started drinking the purpose of confidence & having to deal with annoying or boring social / life events?
Thanks for listening to my mega moan & ME ME ME post
As for YS - I sincerely hope he manages to keep himself sober enough to not cause a fuss. I can understand if he is shy and AL helps him loosen up a bit. The problem is, as you say, that his character changes with AL. Have you ever taken a video of him when he's been drinking and discuss how different he is when sober? Maybe that would be a good wake-up call. Because his shyness is not the problem - it's how he gets when he drinks and he will never understand unless he sees it for himself when sober. So very sorry that you have to deal with this and SIL instead of just enjoying it all. Mind you it is stressful - I went through it with both sons. I do, however, like to get all gussied up for events. I really do. It's a nice change and gives me a lift. Not everyone's piece of cake tho'. How is your DD? Will be waiting to hear how things go!!
Beginning of a heat wave here in Greece. Temps up to 36C today, up around 38 for the next 10 days. Which means it will be more like 40. TG for aircon in store, car and home. Can't live without it in this weather.
Wishing yiz all a day as good as you can make it!!!

A quick nighty night from me. I've progressed from bags of soil and planting to construction of kits of stuff! Bliss!
I hope that the mini break is going well Molly.
I also hope that you start sleeping a little better Brit.

Ha ha! Stirly!
Interesting that you should say that about the self video. I suggested it once and for the same reason. The assembled company were horrified! It was an unspoken agreement that we would all get absolutely trolleyed together like a secret society, with no explanations or repercussions. Until there was, of course. How sadIf your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

satz123.....me me me away, sweetheart, with or with out spanx. I have no answers apart from surreptiitiously shove him in a taxi and send him home if he even shows signs of acting up.
Pa in Law drove his car (which he had promised he would never do again) straight into their front garden wall going to get their lottery tickets of all things. He's fine, the car is being taken away to be scrapped and the wall needs rebuilding. He got an earful last night from my SIL and Mr. JC is going up there again tonight to reiterate what his sister said tonight.
Bland stuff coming up ...................I've just had my nails done by a lovely young lady that comes to your house.
Mr. JC is bringing in a Burger King for dinner after his 'discussion' with his father. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Probably just as well it happened that way - there can be no argument if the car is written off
We had to take the battery out of my mother's car to stop her driving & then tell her it's in the garage being fixed.

Morning and waves to the underoooos,
satz123..............you are so kind. I get what you're saying about them getting older........it broke their hearts when they had to give up bowling (not 10 pin) the posh green one.
Pa-in-law is stubborn and while his body is aging his mind is spot on (he was 93 yesterday)...........he can do The Times crossword every day without the internet and just a dictionary. After his last near-miss a few years ago he promised he wouldn't drive again. Mr. JC and his sister took his car keys ages ago so he's obviously wrangled some new ones from somewhere.
They're beyond angry especially for putting their mum through this. Luckily she's refused to get in the car with him about three years ago.
Mikey and I are going out this afternoon. We're going out with my cousin and her dog Freddie and my Aunt with her dog Minnie to see my brother and his missus and their dogs Seth and Scott. We're all going for a walk on their big field. We'll look like a bunch of rejects from Crufts. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Your getting around Molls, you might even bump into Rustop on your travels :happy2:
AH your poor FIL JackieClaire. That must have given you all a fright! My own FIL cannot cope without his car. Hes recovering from a knee op, but its paint drying slow (hes also extremely difficult but that's another story).
Completely forgot we have a bank holiday this weekend :yay: The parties and the hangovers will be back to normal levels I think, lovely not to have to deal with all that hassle!
HAve a fabulous day tomorrow satz123, looking forward to hearing all about it :heart:Last edited by IamMary; July 29, 2021, 05:41 PM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: Army July 2021
Morning and waves to the world,
You lot don't half get a lot of bank holidays over there. We've got one at the end of August and that's it until Christmas.
But we've got a week in the Yorkshire Dales in October to look forward to. A rather large cottage for just two of us attached to stables. I might even get on one of their horses.
Yesterday Mikey and I had the best afternoon for a long time. Just a lovely lunch with my brother and his missus, his MIL, my Aunt and cousin. The way Mikey got on so well with my brother's two dogs was amazing. After a lot of sniffing, they accepted him as part of their pack.
And I'm a out for lunch again today. I must be the last one in England to come out of lockdown.
Wondering if Satz has got her spanx on yet.It could be worse, I could be filing.
