Re: Army August 2021

Well -- home at last... been having some stuttering worries about my 'next' life -- as I say we want to move out of Dublin and away from the East coast --- so we've spotted a lovely little house down in Mayo - we are going to view it tomorrow - I took a day off... sort of nervous tbh - it's a huge step -- we've only ever lived in two houses - both for lengthy periods - and both in the same town... so yeah -- the beginning tomorrow -- that's it really...
Won't be a million miles from Ballynahinch Castle Rusters --- deffo not as posh tho ;-) Hope you have a smashing time... thinking I'm going to break up my annual leave into a couple of days at a time and take little mini breaks while viewing houses around the country -- get a bit of a holiday as well as the business side.

Anyways -- enough about me -- how's everyone and all the refurbs? I'm hoping we'll get our new home soon enough and Joe can do any refurbs before I ever give up work!!!! you must be getting a big job done Mary if it's going to take months?? I got my kit hen redone (it was a big enough job - we had walls to knock down and rooms to amalgamate and all) - and a builder and Kube Kitchens did it in 3 weeks??

Now I'm off to bed -- very early start tomorrow night night xx

brit............So sorry about your accident. Daytime TV is enough to send you round the bend.

mollyka....3 weeks :egad:
That's one almighty decision you're making but it sounds like you and Joe are singing from the same hymn book. Best of luck you fall in love with one of the houses.
I've just done 3 days in the back bedroom and its been horrible. Might sound daft but I've barely eaten because my stomach has been churning with anxiety.
Anyhoo its done...........it looks fab..............we've got the same colour (barring the kitchen) throughout the house. All there's left is getting new blinds downstairs and pictures to put up.

satz123..........too right our Satzuma. It went through my mind about the flu season. I get my flu jab next month.
Sorry to be so short but thought I'd better talk to Mr. JC for more than 5 minutes.............he's been shifting furniture from one place to another for the last week then falling into to bed.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Jazus Molls that is a big step :egad: Is it not UP to Mayo ?
You gonna follow Sam - bit drastic that ? :haha:

I'm always on about it but moving that far from Dublin - I really don't think I'd be able. Then again I'm all talk. I want someone to come & tell me there is a 3 bed new built in maybe Wicklow or Wexford near the sea - sell my own for loads of money and move me down.

Here Molls PM me a picture .... ? Mr S LOVES Mayo 'cos his Ma is from there.
Maybe I'll move beside you.......

Jaysus...don't frighten me!!! Couldn't ABIDE anywhere on easy coast...all the bright young striving critters WFH and being terribly important. No it was always west coast..this is only less than 3 hours from home..would have done Kerry but just too far from family.
I'll see what I think of this house and if I like it I'll send the link.
Laters folks!

Yer wan next door is getting something ELSE done - FFS ! She is never happy with her lot.
Banging & pulling & dragging & workmen.

Result : a shaggin' mouse in our house. Haven't had one for 20 years after a full on assault by me with poison, electrical devices etc.
Now I have to go clean every nook & bleedin' cranny

Good morning. Sorry about the" moaney" post yesterday--I was so tempted to drink some Gin. All my friends and family are away and I have a really horrible wound on my shin, I was feeling very sorry for myself. As I cannot get out and do stuff I had a real WTF moment.
I am getting a grip this morning and have invited a friend around this afternoon.
Making plans to keep busy and will try to book a flight to Norway for October.

Morning and waves to the underooos.
mollyka........best of luck you'll find what you're looking for. Although for me its a bit of a shock that you're leaving your fabulous house.
satz123............I'm off to see your favourite optician this aftie. It's a post-cataract operation check-up. Shall I send him your regards?

brit..........I was trying to find polite words but, sweetheart you've been through a bundle of crap (that's putting in mildly) this past year. Fingers crossed you find a flight. I'm just a text away.

Cluster-youknowwhat of a week but here I am. I've been sneaking around going for Zoom interviews to get a nice fresh job using referees from this job and hoping that the word doesn't get out.

I'm sorry to hear about that outcome Techie but at least you know you're not going mad. Which would be easy these days.

I think that's dead exciting about the new house Molly. The West coast of Ireland is renowned for it's wild beauty. How amazing.

JC I totally feel you. I loathe others esp strangers in my house. So glad it's over and feeling fresh and clean.

Big waves to all. The part time workload is working well so I'll be around again the next coupla.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Afternoon everyone.

As JC said you have been through so much Brit. Hope the shin heals quickly and that you manage to get a flight. It will give you something to look forward to. I booked loads of hotels over the next few months on booking.com. Most only an hour away and on Saturday nights so we can go have dinner and stay over. If we are locked up so be it, it’s free cancellation. At least it’s a break and something to look forward to if it does work out.

Sorry to hear about the mouse Satz, know that feeling about disinfecting everything. Have a small JR I can lend you!

Good luck Molly. It is more of a big deal when you are actually moving. We are only looking for holiday home. Did I tell you my SIL bought hers online, had never seen it. Worked out for her but personally I need to get a ‘feel’ of a place.

Glad the part time work is working out for you Bridget and good luck in the job hunt.

Need to get my act together, heading west in an hour or two.

Thanks for the offer Rusters.

I fear Ms Mouse is now looking at real estate for a nice place to set up home, have babies & invite all the relatives.:egad:

satz123...........masses on-line on how to deal with a mouse in the house. One thing we did learn was don't put cheese in the traps...............its a myth that mice eat cheese...........can't remember who told me but they advised putting chocolate in the traps...........worked a treat.
Mikey just sniffs everything and eats bees.

Right eyeball check-up and everything is good apart from having to shell out for another pair of glasses.
She did ask if I just wanted the lens replaced but a fortnight walking into doors and not being able to read just didn't appeal so will use the ones I've got now as a spare when the new ones arrive.

I'm a lady who lunches today. Do I wear the tiara or just dress down?

What attire would you recommend for dinner Satz? Tell them mice to move down the country rentals are cheaper there.

Any luck with the house Molly? It really is beautiful down here. Even in the rain there is a beauty.

Just checked into hotel and waiting for himself to come back from fishing. Have a lovely weekend one and all.

I'm vicariously loving all these mini breaks to lovely places.
I've got a mental image of Molly's new house and it's the stuff of dreams in my head. How exciting.

Success! Got myself a new job!
Purpose built unit to manage which is still being built. I will start in a couple of months which is great because I can continue to work from home and plan my escape (and also complete my Covax inj programme). The pay is significantly higher than current and surprise, surprise - they actually recognised my past experience and contributions. They are also prepared to pay me for it.... Unlike my current employer. Enough said.

Must admit I've been in shock the last couple of days. I've also had a sense of profound gratitude, like our KTAB up there, knowing full-well that NONE of this would be happening if I was still a drunkard.

Sobriety is the gift that just keeps on giving.

I hope you are feeling a bit more on the up today, Brit. Boy, you are in the wars love.

As for your outfit, JC, I agree with the Elizabethan vibe. Totally suitable.
