Re: September Army 2021

Ah sorry to hear that Molls
There is a gorge house out there waiting for you !

Ys is still drinking. Led us all on a merry dance last week when he told his sister he would take up her offer of going to in house treatment. That he was sick of drinking and what it had done to him.
Was getting the train down to have his assessment.
Said he went - but he didn't. I rang the guy he was to meet.
I am SO tired of it all.

Another job lost, was the talk of everyone at the wedding, he's a mess and up in court now for unpaid fines.
I'm thinking of giving him a huge jolt and giving him notice to move out of his grandmother's house where he pays only €60 a week including all utilities.
He won't even weed the front driveway.

But I'm scared of what he could do if everything comes crashing down at once. He would have nothing - literally.
Any advice folks?

Don't know if there is a right answer satz123.. remember my cousin, who was in the facility at the same time as YS?
Well he came out and things got a lot worse. She threw him out but forked out a fortune for an apt with a sea view (seriously). He messed that up. Ended up in hospital after crashing his car (off his head).. loads more but you get the gist. Finally, she pulled away. The other brothers dealt with him and left him in the care of the state..
Very long story short, we believe he's doing v well, he's in a house somewhere, in a program, all paid for by the state.
My aunt is getting counselling and for now, there is no contact.
He's 48. In my aunts words "mary, I should have done it 32 years ago".
Thats just one story mind you.
techie, yes it's marathon training. That's awful conditions..could you drive a distance to get better air? brit? When is the half on? That will be great craic.. we are doing belfast on Oct 3rd, but I'm really looking forward to supporting the rest of the crew doing dublin virtual a few weeks later. You've done Dublin I think?
JackieClaire, maybe it's good news??

Molly, seems like houses are gone nuts all right. Are you putting your on the market? Great time to sell!!!

We all know we have to be doing this for ourselves. I ignored the advice and urgings of assorted family until I was ready...

Morning and waves to the universe,
My gut feeling was slightly off centre...........its not Jenny and Ads. Its Ad's grandpa. He had to have his dog put to sleep and has slipped into early dementia. Ads has been running around getting power of attorney. They've been running around like blue arsed flies trying to get help.
Mind you he was 102 yesterday.

satz123.........

I love that. I shall remember that every time I shove another peanut butter kit-kat in my mouth.

IamMary..........your poor Aunt............but what a brave woman. A tale from me. My fellow volunteer ended up living in a tent, his only friends were ducks...............he was a lucky man as someone passed him one day who had started a daily re-hab in our town and started talking him to it and got him into Oaklands (just do a google)........they've now got quite a few up here in the NE. The man who came up with the idea is 47 years sober.

mollyka.............for some odd reason, we've got a housing boom. They are building new houses quicker than I can eat a kit-kat. The prices are ridiculous and seem to be building on any tiny bit of green they (whoever 'they' are) can find.

bushido.............lovely to see you checking in.

Think I've used up a week's worth of @s
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: September Army 2021

Good morning Army. Hi JC. Welcome to MWO bushido. The air quality has improved somewhat here IamMary. Much too far to drive to find decent air. I’m so happy to know we have marathoners in this group. While I really prefer triathlon and Spartan races I have done some of the Big Marathon Races, New Your, Boston, etc. My goal is to compete in the Alcatraz Event which has the toughest swim section in the world. Then I think, I will just coach. BTW, I thought the Dublin event was canceled? Have a wonderful week everyone. Blessings x

Re: September Army 2021

Afternoon everyone. Typing this from phone which is a pain. Won’t @ you Molly but am sorry about the house. We are looking at something next Saturday and I’ve just had an email saying it’s already €25k above asking price. Doubt if we will bother even bidding but will have a look anyway.

Sorry it’s still the same story with young Satz, my heart goes out to you. As Bush said he needs to want to do it himself and maybe tough love would work, you will know when you have reached your limit.

Growing old ain’t for the faint hearted JC. Must be something in the air where you live, 102 is some age.

Waves to everyone else, absolutely beautiful day here. Wish I was out in it and not stuck at work.

I know a few people house hunting now and it's gone bonkers again. Maybe it won't last too long. 25k already seems v steep Rustop..
Your gut wasn't wrong JackieClaire, something was off.. what a fantastic age to be..

I'm not in your league techie! Just a runner, love the distance, but I want to be doing this when I'm 80, so will have to see about all these heavy training sessions! Yes dublin was cancelled (there will be a virtual event), so we moved up to Belfast.

How was your day bushido, all good??

Re: September Army 2021

Morning all. The holiday excitement has kicked off.
Flying out on Thursday ....

So it seems Ireland is pals with UK so nothing much to do there at the border
Ireland is pals with Greece - same
BUT UK not pals with Greece so all fecking manner of shite to be done before UK let us back in on 24th September
Have to get a bloody test done somewhere in Keffalonia

PLUS arrange & PAY FOR a day 2 test even though we won't be there.

Where's Stirly ??
Greece have got themselves on the UK 'Amber' list & could change to 'Red' list while we're there.
The UK will then demand 1 million Euro & our first born on the border trying to get back....

Travel is a risky business at the moment, that is why I did the staycation in Cornwall this summer. The insane amount of drinking I did whilst away brought me here. I am a few days without a drink, starting to feel I may actually do it this time. I am enjoying this site and sense that there are others here that get the madness of being an alcoholic...

Good morning and waves to the universe,
satz123...........its a shit show. I've stopped watching the news. I don't know who's red, green, amber or pale blue with spots on. It does puzzle me that you won't be entering the UK........you'll be in a sort of nowhere land if you're not leaving the
airport just transferring to another flight.
We're going to the Yorkshire Dales and the most dangerous thing I'll be doing is having a go at horse riding.............I say that now but bet I call off at the last minute.

My laptop went belly up yesterday........in fact it started shouting at me that my lappy was under attack anyway squeezed into my big girl pants and rang the helpline and a charming young man from our help-line put it right. Took an hour. I did have to lie face down on the settee for an hour as my anxiety went through the roof.

bushido...........so glad you're enjoying the site.

Afternoon everyone.

Glad you are enjoying the site Bushido, a lot of us might be further along but not one of us forget how hard those early days were so well done. It will get easier.

OMG Satz that just sounds so complicated. Enjoy the holiday and hope you get back without too much bother.

Massive congrats on getting the laptop working JC, hate having to do anything like that.

Absolutely fabulous day here, wish I was out in the garden rather than working.

That's great Bushy - half the battle is finding something / somewhere that 'clicks' with you and where you are....

Hola Army. You made me spew coffee satz123 as you hit my funny bone. Just absolutely cracked me up. JC, next time you have a computer prob run it by me via PM, unless you have free support services. I will help if I can. Great to see you posting again bushido. BTW, we are scheduled to fly to Phoenix end of September for a few weeks. This will be our first air travel since the pandemic. I made a promise to myself that we would not do any non essential travel, but here we are doing it. I realize life has got to go on and we cannot live in a bubble. I’m also beginning to realize that the masked shall inherit the earth.
