Surely you'd need hot water in bathroom sinks too ?

Just for the kitchen Satz, instead of a kettle. This one.
We are oil too. Our house is about 1935, but we renovated, so it's well insulated. The immersion has never worked. Not sure why they put it in.

Morning everyone.

Heard that on the news last night. My daughter said that geographically it is not that far but way outside her commuter belt. Seems he was Danish and mental health was an issue. Poor, poor families, you really never know what is around the corner.

Thanks for the info Mary, I have not looked at house stuff in years, that’s why I was hoping that the ideal homes show was on in the RDS, need ideas for the cottage if we get it. Vendors solicitor seems to be dragging their heels, not very professional. Hard to have patience with them but I guess I will have to. Beautiful morning and just had a lovely walk. Getting hair done in a while.

Just back from a walk with the doggies and now heading off for hike in Glendalough, the Spinc. My favourite walk so looking forward to it.

No of course not, its good to be needed, even if you a bit stretched. You'll have a few days to recover now.

Stone kitchen bench top? If so, 40 mm? Real stone and synthetic combo, or a slab of full marble? Laminated? Thickness? Colour? What's happening with the splashback?

Actually got back last night but was jiggered after the journey home.........its actually just two and half hours or thereabouts from the cottage but with needing to make a 'comfort' stop and a blinking car crash (not us that goodness) took nearer five.
Just wanted to lay face down on the bed when we got home. There are so many little villages with churches...around...must have spent hours looking at gravestones.
It was a fabulous cottage. Only noise was us and the owner letting his cows out into field beside us in the morning.

Think of it this way, she trusts you and Christmas is coming fast. Few extra euros in your back pocket to treat yourself.

[MENTION=22411]IamMary[/MENTION]..........when we did our the kit hen worktops are called Zenith. Made out of compressed paper........but it weighs and feels, looks like granite. Nearly had heart failure at the price but we saved the ozone layer (well not all of it) and luckily we did get 20% off as the manager is a pal of the son and heir.

Just had our flu jabs then battled around Tesco on a Saturday morning.........I need another hollingday.

Night everyone.

Welcome back JC, place looks amazing. Funny enough we also stayed in a coach house when we were in Waterford last month.

My daughter and SIL did a park run this morning and I walked it with the lab. Beautiful morning and it was good for the lab to be out among so many people but think he would prefer running wild in the mountains.

Nice to be needed Satz and I guess in any job there needs to be give and take. Tired tonight, think I will have an early one. Night all.

Happy sober Sunday folks, just laying in the bed still, thinking how lucky and blessed I am to know for 100% absolute certainty that today I will not drink. Don’t think I will ever tire of this feeling, it’s a gift we all have within ourselves to give to ourselves if we want it badly enough. Took me decades but I got there in the end so never ever give up, it’s all about mindset imo.

Hi all. I’m interested in the water heating issue. I pay a huge water bill living in California. It’s usually $275 to $290/month. Of course everything is over the top expensive here. I had instant hot water installed and have tankless water heaters. To run a rap or a shower for 10 minutes till it’s hot is not cost effective at all. How is the situation where you are?

Hi Techie, are solar panels not a good option for heating water in your climate? As mentioned we don’t actually pay for water directly but do indirectly through our taxes. Personally when I built my house a decade ago I put in a wood pellet boiler system for environmental reasons. Wind power wasn’t an option and solar panels don’t work well enough in our climate, I couldn’t afford ground source heating so this was the best option left. It looks after all my hot water and heating and is very low carbon output as the pellets it burns are purely compressed sawdust. I could go into more detail about how it is all set up but don’t want people falling asleep in front of their computer screens.
