In addition letting things slide and not getting ourselves worked up about things that really are insignificant when compared to real issues is a direction I am seriously trying to head in as I get older. At least that’s what I aspire to. As I told someone the other day who was getting really wound up with a close family member after conflict over something trivial, what would you do if you got news this person had just been involved in a serious road accident for instance. Perspective folks.
Agree tabbers, I work in IT and it regularly get a bit hot under the collar. My moto: I am not a brain surgeon, no one is going to die here. Perspective folks. :happy2:

Morning all! Glad you survived Mary...great nights sleep was had and feel a lot brighter.

What I'm getting hot under the collar is the obstacles that are being put in people's way re. Covid and testing in my job.
I work in a library as ye may know...and 90% of people who work in libraries are diligent hard working kind people (the other 10% are senior management).
These people (the 10%) have decided that we are all out to take time off just to take Covid tests..so you have to take annual leave or uncertified sick leave in order to go for one...very few people have any leave left as we had to take our leave during lockdown last winter. It is awful..and these clowns are all still 'working' from home themselves.. so oh dear God they make me angry..that's just one small example...oh if you have kids who have no childcare cos of Covid instances in creche...you've to take unpaid time off unless you've leave left....in November....arrrrggghhhh

All good. Did I not read somewhere that employers were obligated to allow staff time off for testing?

And if not, why not. I know if I were an employer I would prefer my staff to be tested regularly than have an outbreak in the workplace because someone wasn’t aware they had it.

Oh they're obliged to let people go..but not obliged to pay them apparently ...many many of the people I work with are on very low pay (starting salary 23k) and paying Dublin rents....and if you need to stay at home awaiting a test and then awaiting the results of said test..which now can take a couple of days.....the temptation to ignore the sniffle or the slight cough which may ..and more often than not IS....be a slight cold. Btw...this doesn't apply to me ..I'm privileged to have no rent..no mortgage..and no children ...but it really enrages me for the young'uns...we have worked throughout the pandemic with the exception of the deep lockdowns...and even then we were working behind the scenes...click and collect etc...and not one word of acknowledgement even...while they languished on their couches......

                Oommmmmmmmmmm

Good morning. Sunny day here but trapped at home because of the rib pain.

Good things are happening though Daughter having me over for Sunday roast. Cleaner started on Friday and she is brilliant and is coming fortnightly. Hopefully the Gardener that I have sorted will turn up and clear the massive amount of leaves. I do feel lonely but so glad to have stuff in place.

You are dealing with the things you can deal with ---- and imo that takes pressure off us mentally -- it sort of 'clears the clutter and the chatter' that's in our heads ... it will give you freedom to think about how you want to deal with the loneliness -- personally I'm inclined to wallow in it until I don't want to wallow anymore - then I start thinking what I want to do about it -- in my case I usually just get a really good book and I'm grand again... ach I'm being flippant -- the loneliness is natural in your case -- but I know from others who've lost their loved ones that it eases -- gradually -- slowly -- but it does.. this season is a shocker for anyone with a sadness -- but -- like I said the other day -- it's only one day -- I'm sure your girls will be around you and I envy you your cleaner and your gardener more than you will ever know!!!

Good to see you lovely xxx

Can you just go for a walk MsA - first thing - like you used to when running? A walk will always make things seem brighter.

That thing of cleaning house & garden - is a way of taking control when you think life is getting overwhelming.
When the house is 'normal' clean you can then do all the 'nice' stuff. Move things - get new cushions - new curtains.

I noticed recently that if I feel things are out of control & the house is a tip - just cleaning for an hour makes me feel less stressed. Mad I know.

Like Molls I am sooooooo fecking jealous of cleaner & gardener.

Is this just for the duration of your rib healing? It'll be hard to give them up!

Beautiful morning here.. ran around Ardgillian. We nipped into our local shopping centre/mall, it was jammers. Counted 8 seperate adults not wearing masks.
Zonked, off to the leaba to dream about having an oven again...

Cleaner and gardener hopefully for the long haul. I had no need for new clothes etc. ,so I am happy to spend my money on making my life easier.
I did follow your suggestions and went out for a slow walk and did feel much better for it as the sun was shining.

Ribs feel more comfy this morning.

Unfortunately the temptation to drink again is overwhelming so this site is compulsory for me now.

Going out for a walk now.

Oh good woman MsA - great the ribs are feeling better. Don't they say that the endorphins from movement are a natural painkiller ?
Enjoy your day and remember no matter how shite you feel now - drinking will make you feel twice as bad.
The sadness and loss will get less over time - but the knock on effect of that first drink will last much much longer lovely ......

( ps BUY THE CLOTHES TOO. NOTHING LIKE SOMETHING NEW TO HAVE A POSITIVE EFFECT ON US. EVEN IF JUST A NEW SHINY RUNNING JACKET OR TRAINERS)
