We had our cottage surveyed last week but still waiting for the report and the vendors solicitor sent back stuff our one was waiting for. Not sure if it is everything but a small degree of progress is being made. It is teaching me to be patient if nothing else.

Hi Tabs and Techie and all else -- the vaccine's are definitely an 'imperfect' solution - but I s'pose they help - couldn't imagine not having them!

Glad Tilly is ok, bit close to home for you and I am sure you worry about Joe after all his health problems last year. How is he doing by the way?

Joe is doing really well - physically anyway -- he seems a bit glum of late -- and he's a divil for hiding his feelings -- hoping he's not hiding an 'ailment' --- .
Our surveyor --- gawd -- it's ongoing --- our estate agent rang last week to see what the delay was -- Joe told her that the QS that she recommended STILL hadn't sent his report -- if in fact he's surveyed it at all yet --- it's just silly at this stage... for sure you'd need endless patience buying or selling ANYTHING! Guessing if the surveyor gets the finger out we should have it sorted after christmas...
Went up to see Jilly's new house today - and it's an absolutely lovely house --- she was very lucky getting it -- needs some cosmetic work and that's about it... oh and the garden -- hopefully I can help her with that..
anyway -- dinner had and feet up -- how's everyone?
BTW Techie -- why on earth is the vaccination rate so low in California? Always thought of California as a forward thinking state --no?Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: November Army Thread
Evening all.
Understand some people are hesitant about the vaccine, but please dont walk around with no mask and go on about your human rights. If those vaccinated are to respect the decision of the unvaccinated, it should go both ways and unvaccinated should not be mixing with the rest of us.
I dont think Austria's approach is the correct one, mandatory vaccinations. There has to be another way.
Off to Galway at the crack of dawn. Family drama. On top of my own here, half a house and picking up a drunk middle child (15) this evening. I dont know about the rest of you, but my sober nose has an amazing sense of smell. She was hiding it well, but the sweet smell of some blue vodka shite would knock you out.
loads of tears, I ended up tidying her room and tucking her in, FFS!! There was actually no point talking to her tonight. Shes in for it tomorrow night when I get homeAF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Anyhow lots of anti vaxxers at the local market with signs and petitions. I tell them you should not get the COVID vaccine unless you are absolutely sure you want to live. That tends to shut them up!Outside of a dog a book is mans best friend. Inside of a dog its too dark to read

The FDA and their counterparts on this side continue to monitor reports of side effects for many many years after a vaccine is approved.
We've had this vaccine 9 months & I've already had 3 doses.
All I know is that the nurses and other medical staff in work would not get the vaccine if it weren't for their jobs depending on it. There is genuine fear out there.Last edited by satz123; November 21, 2021, 04:22 AM.

My Dad was a pharmaceutical chemist - my mum wanted to take thalidomide when pregnant with me as she was so ill - he could have laid hands on it before it was even fully approved here... he wouldn't let her go next nigh or near it -- he didn't 'know' anything wrong about it -- but....... I'm guessing doctors may feel something similar...
I do have a problem with the 'mis-truths' ---
#1 - don't wear masks (March 20 - June 20) they don't help --- lie -- the dog in the streets knew masks would help -- they didn't want the general public to use PPE necessary for health workers --------understandable -- just don't lie.
#2 - all vaccines the same - wonderful efficacy -- lie -- virtually from the beginning they knew AstraZeneca was inferior - but they had a stock pile they had to use --- couldn't give it to under 50's - wasn't adequate for over 70's --- so piggy's in the middle like me and Joe and Rusters husband got palmed off with the stockpile
#3 - Schools aren't a problem with transmission - lie -- of COURSE they are -- 18 out of 28 out of Laura's class --- similar in Jilly's -- government want schools as childcare to keep the economy running -- don't give a fiddlers about education.
I HATE HATE HATE being lied to -- and being treated like a fool and a child --- HOWEVER -- I would take 94 vaccines at the moment if that what it would take to keep me and my loved ones safe

Re: November Army Thread
Morning ladies & Techie, was a cool 2 degrees here earlier but a beautiful sunny day perfect for a long walk to clear the cobwebs. I am all covided out at this stage, think I need a period of self imposed news blackout just as I did with Brexit and the orange pretend president.

Great rant and completely agree with you. I just want everyone to get through this ok and if taking the vaccine keeps me out of hospital I’ll take it. Poor Mary, don’t envy you the stage you are at. Of course us alkies are much more clued in and also more aware of where it can take you. All I can say is that you will get them through this stage but the worry with kids continues. There is always something.
Another beautiful morning here. Nothing much planned for the day, nice walk, that is about it.

Was just thinking -- when you said you were going to Galway.... Simon ran away to the Galway races when he was 16 cos he got an earful after a drunken escapade..... I'm tired just remembering it all -- BUT -- they are all relatively stable grown up people with children of their own -- with it all ahead of them!! Good luck and it WILL be fine... xxxxContentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: November Army Thread
Sorry Mers - didn't address your issue. As the wise Mammies above said - this too will pass. I really am not one to give advice being an alkie with an alkie son :egad:
but all I know is girls tend to be much more sensible than boys. Sweeping statement but I think true.
A good 'ol hangover might just be enough to stop a recurrence. Then tell her you were MORTO for the state of her appearances are everything at 15.
She won't want to hear she was like Lego ( in bits ).Last edited by satz123; November 21, 2021, 05:26 PM.

Re: November Army Thread
My day was spent in Wexford in the treatment centre visiting YS.
He was full of it. I've never seen him so animated. Yap yap yap.
Loving it all though admits it's draining and the family emails were tough to hear but they are working through it all.
He is making plans for Aftercare & AA meetings with the friends he's made there - 2 of whom are actually are locals from 'round here and will be going to the same meetings.
It all sounds very positive - but I can't help being sceptical as we've been here before.
