Afternoon everyone

Totally agree JC. I got an early pension from an old job in October and am merrily spending it on nights away. Place last night was lovely, food ok but service for second half of meal was appalling and it was not due to lack of staff just bad management. Pity because that is what you will remember.

Well done ladies on rearing your sons so well and there are so many more like them. Pity about the rotten apples. Just did airport pick up and now need to organise something for dinner.

Evening ladies from an old fashioned soul who was brought up not only to respect women but honour them too. Every woman is probably somebody’s mother, daughter, sister. Before objectify them more men should remember this.

P.S. great going Benji on the young lad.

It is wonderful how he took to it this time -- I'm excited for him -- and for all of you as well -- it affects the whole family and he's carving out a new life for himself -- the great thing about the half way houses is they are there long enough not to get too cocky and think they're 'cured' -- by the time he finishes down there it should be a way of life for him -- super duper!!!

I'll be honest Tabs -- and others that have addressed this subject -- imo it is one of the first priorities of parenting to teach respect to our young people -- not just young men btw -- but it's all part of the parcel really -- and I'd be horrified if I thought any of my 3 sons wouldn't behave like that towards anyone who is vulnerable... but frankly I don't think it is just a matter of 'teaching young men' --- the vastly huge majority of men wouldn't DREAM of abusing anyone -- be it a cat dog human even a piece of property... unfortunately in every facet of society there are the bad eggs -- and also unfortunately -- those bad eggs in the male population will focus on those who are weaker than they are -- and again -- unfortunately that often manifests as abuse towards woman... and that applies in the home as well as out on the streets -- but THEY are the few that need to be weeded out -- we shouldn't have to explain that the men in our family behave correctly --- just my opinion

Of course. And how kids see parents interact with others is a large part of that learning.

In our now multicultural Ireland people have different ways of doing things. Many cultures are still in the dark ages in how women / childrenare treated. (like us in the 60's)

The first lad that was arrested for the murder was known to Gardai for violent crimes committed previously. So they rightly hauled him in.
He is from Romania, living in a Direct Provision hostel with a wife & kids - and God knows what horrors they saw before landing here.
(No doubt if you are dirt poor you will not think twice about stealing from the perceived rich)

I'm rambling now - but yiz get the gist...
All I'm saying is the is a whole other world out there we rarely see - where kids were dragged up - they are now the parents - and bringing kids up in the same way.

Sorry I wasn’t here to entertain you Satz, was at work. Hope you did not spend too much. Baltic this morning but the most amazing moon.

Agree with you regarding different family dynamics and all kids are not being reared the same. Maybe we should be more like the Nordic countries, particularly Norway. You want to live here then you abide by our rules, speak our language etc. Think we do a bit too much pussy footing around, being too politically correct.

Need to get some food, been a long day.

Cracking posts here, I missed a day and had a great read.
Didn't realise that about the Nordics Rustop, very refreshing.
satz123 absolutely delighted about YS. It was a long road, and of course it will keep rambling on, but he sounds like he's got a decent handle on this now.
Is he full of plans? It must be lovely to have him back.

Just finished Dopesick. Unbelievable. Its about the (legal) painkiller oxycontin, which is an opioid, and how highly addictive it is. Could easily make the same movie about alcohol.

Morning,
No, I haven't wet the bed just we've got to leave early to get a parking space near the hearing aid man. He's awfully good looking and I wish I was 30 years younger

Yep once the Vikings had finished with England they nipped over to Ireland. There was a fascinating documentary on BBC4..............don't know if you could catch it on BBC iplayer as its quite a while ago I saw it.

Morning all !
Lovely sunny day outside I'm told. But freezing cold.
This is the weather I've been waiting for - to wear all the shagging winter gear I bought in the sales during the Summer.
Furry boots , furry jackets - ridiculous - we just don't get the extreme weather needed to justify buying the stuff

Mr S is playing golf ......... so I'd best bring the Rosie one out for a walk.
She's so patient when I'm a lazy fecker. Just sleeps beside me 'till I make a move :heartbeat:

Yes I've noticed that myself Molls. My DD used to blame the alcohol - she soon learned the straight talking was something she couldn't blame on the drink :haha:
But for me recently it has caused problems.

Long Story alert :

My brother resents the fact that we (my sister & me ) outed his daughter who was stealing from her grandmother (my mother) with Dementia. She stole k's. My sister planted a camera.
He has a huge chip on his shoulder & on the family WhatsApp group he is passive aggressive & ignores both of us & over reacts to the others to let us know.
This went on for for about 2 years - but I finally cracked the other day. & told him to grow up.

We are talking about selling my mother's house. It is falling into disrepair & YS living there drunk didn't help. :egad:
After calling to the house first time in 3 years he was fuming that the alarm was broken & ancient fuse box was broken. Instead of venting that anger properly he just got more & more sarky in a passive aggressive way.
He demanded to know how much was in my mother's bank accounts. I just couldn't take the bullying tone any more. I told him I TRUSTED my sister ( POA) to run my mother's affairs. He said HOW DARE YOU accuse me of not trusting. So when the WhatsApp group got confrontential the rest of them just wouldn't call him out. But knowing where the resentment originated I couldn't take any more without saying something.
So that's it now - I'm officially the black sheep. My sisters agree with me but they prefer to still play happy families.
