That's sad Mers. She's probably ok now but she will get steadily worse until she will have to quit or die sooner than she'd like.
I don't think raising the price will discourage those it needs to discourage. The ones addicted to alcohol. They just want the alcohol in the drink so they will switch to spirits or something else.
Others who like to have a drink at home with friends will head North and buy in bulk. Who'd blame them.

Re: January Army 2022
Morning folks, congrats Techie.
Even a very large increase in the price of ethanol would not have stopped me in my tracks. In my head I needed my daily ‘medicine’ above all else so other areas, when the money should have been spent, would have suffered, until it all came to a head I suppose.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Morning,
Price wouldn't have stopped me..............I just went cheaper. Thinking in a different direction she sounds lonely and alcohol is her only 'friend'.
We're having a VIB (very important baby) visit this afternoon. Its my cousin's first grand child........he's only 3 months old............his mum's got to work so she's got him all day.It could be worse, I could be filing.

She may indeed. I’ve always told Mary how lucky she was to quit when she did. Now I’m thankful (as I bet Molly is) to be facing retirement without that hanging over me. I remember a few of you saying you had never drunk in your new kitchens. Myself and Molls will be the same in our retirement homes/cottages.
Our sale is nearly through. Our solicitor was looking for a closing date this week but other solicitor out sick. Agree a lot of the slackers at work are now the close contacts! Our EHS guy could not contact a lot of people who were isolating the other day!
Enjoy you VIP guest JC. Picked up SIL from airport this morning and just back from walk.

Oh I hear the Pope calling all dog lovers selfish because they are choosing not to have kids or just one and then getting a pet.
They are denying themselves motherhood or fatherhood by choosing the easier option. Should not be replacing kids with animals
All I can say is FFS - and point out to him that he himself chose not to have children and stop being a hypocrite......
I’m officially resigning from Catholic Church.

Re: January Army 2022
Right behind you Satz. My brother did, officially. Then on occasion, I'd hear a kind reflective priest deliver an amazing ceremony at a funeral or a wedding and I'd try to be less critical. Maybe when they ordain women.
Question for anyone who's been to Greece ( satz123, but not limited to :haha.. where would you recommend? Starting from scratch here as I've never been. Hoping stirly-girly might drop by with a few recommendations. Greece with teenagers. Thinking Athens for a couple of days, then an island?Last edited by IamMary; January 8, 2022, 06:52 PM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: January Army 2022
Good morning folks, happy sober hangover free Sunday. For this I am so grateful and as the months turn into years I too hope to have milestones as you ladies do. Can’t imagine the pain I would feel to wake up this morning having poisoned myself again, shudder.
Mary it’s been that long since I was first in Greece (35+ yrs), I imagine it has changed a lot so the less commercialised the area the better as the true Greece is a very special place. Be prepared to fall in love.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Re: January Army 2022
Morning everyone
You need a few people in the house who stay up late Molly. Ours are wrecked, the night owls kept them up and then I was the early bird dragging them out for walks early every morning. Did two airport early morning runs this week so the big fella is exhausted.
I have been awake hours but lay in bed reading, bliss. SIL just left so have the house to myself today, doing absolutely nothing.
It is 30+ years since I was in Greece Mary. We were in Corfu and from what I remember it was lovely. Probably has changed a lot since then.

Re: January Army 2022
Morning..........it'll be afternoon by the time I finish this.
Mr JC does a lot of conveyancing.................his problem is the 'searches'. Back in the day we had a massive coal industry oop north and they take an age to reply when they're checking if a house is built on one of them. Drives him round the twist.
Our little VIB was delightful. Everything is so new to him. His eyes were all over gathering information. And his wee gummy smile was to die for.
Only been to Greece once..............a little island called Aegina. Only set back was you have to fly to Athens then get a ferry to the island. Fine going when you're excited but a proper pain in the backside coming back when you're coming back.It could be worse, I could be filing.
