You mentioned 7 years, did you have 7 years and then go back to drinking? If so do you mind me asking why? We were having a conversation here last week about how if we were in the situation of the Ukrainians would we just say feck it and drink.
Oh Brit, my heart goes out to you. Well done on getting yourself out on those walks.
Molly, it really will feel like home when you get your stuff in. Bet you don’t know yourself Mary with your renovated house.
Waves to everyone else. Off to 60th birthday lunch.

Morning,
brit...........have one of these to start  My jaw hit the floor when you said its a year bless your heart and can't begin to know how you feel but you're been a true trooper.
DriftyAlison0.............congratulations.
We snuck away from the wedding do about 10:30/11pm. Apart from he fact it was nightmare to get there. It was freezing in the place. Got talking to the father of the bride and they were going to charge £50 to light the fires on top of the x-million they'd already paid out. And the ladies toilets were horrendous.
I'm glad we went as we've known the bride since she was a bump in her Mum. Couldn't not go. She was a sweetie when she was a little girl and grown into a beautiful woman.
The drive back from the 'venue' was a nightmare.............hissing down and thick fog. We fell into the house out of gratitude that we'd got home safely. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: March Army 2022
Morning all...was about to say how cold a morning it is..then turned on news of those poor Ukrainians....a truck is leaving here shortly so so happy coats and warm clothes I had for charity shop will find a good home...just feel something more should be done...Bully boy Putin hiding behind his threat of nuclear and the West capitulating....my fear would be for the next in line ....Last edited by mollyka; March 5, 2022, 02:27 AM.Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

The UK and most of Europe are ready to take in refugees and our Army is on standby.

I advised MsA to get a doggie. They replace nothing but bring so much love with them - you'll never be alone or lonely when you have a little doggie. They make you get out even if you are not in the mood.
There's also a kind of unspoken rule with dog owners - you just cannot walk by without saying something either to the dog or the human :haha:
Just back from visit down to YS. He is doing just GREAT !!
A different young man. That 'edgy' side of him has gone - totally relaxed & embracing it all.
We had a family pow wow with counsellor that went well.
As I suspected he will most likely stay down there when the 6 months are up & see what prospects are there. A totally fresh start.
Waterford is a very underrated county - went for a coastal then mountain drive - spectacular scenery. Dungarven was like being on the continent today ... I was really impressed.Last edited by satz123; March 5, 2022, 05:59 PM.

Night everyone
Thought I posted earlier but must not have hit submit. Absolutely fabulous morning, white frost and looked like winter wonderland down at the river. Agree Satz, benefit of dogs is ten fold. Delighted YS getting on so well. Most counties have little treasures and some are forgotten. Try the seaweed baths when you are down there next.
Molly you too, Enniscrone not a million miles from you. Beautiful beach and Victorian baths. Well done JC, wedding afters and buses, you go girl.

Re: March Army 2022
Just a quick wave as am shattered.
We have our main club fundraiser tomorrow with 800+ turning up to race 4 miles. I was doing goodie bags half the day.
Everyone was heading home talking about the glass of wine or gin they were planning to tuck onto and I have to admit, I allowed myself to linger on the thought. I could taste it driving home, so clearly. Sort of scared me, as suddenly I wasn't thinking about 1 glass, but about the next and the next. Anyway, thoughts were expelled from my head, they are no more.
£50 to light a fire!! What planet are these people on!
Not related, but fuel has gone up something shocking.
Yes, it was absolutely beautiful today, you must be buzzing after seeing YS looking so well satz123..AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: March Army 2022
I had 7 years at one time and I let peer pressure get to me. I was so far in I figured that I could let my guard down. I was wrong.I figured that 1 drink would not affect me and I can go back to soberity. I was of course wrong and it did not take long before I was drinking bad again and I would convince myself that it was not as bad since I only had 6-9 beers and 1-2 and not 12+beers 3-4 shots and a mixed drink but it was still bad and still took me from 2018-2020 to get sick of my actions to quit successfully. I have tried a few times in 2018 but after a few fails I was like f it I will quit when I was ready and I was ready 2 years later.
For me even if I was in the Ukraine I think that I would stay sober.I would need to have all of my wits with me if I was there so I would fight it.Last edited by DriftyAlison0; March 5, 2022, 09:14 PM.I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.
Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.
Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.
