I am so grateful for supportive family, friends and waking up after sleeping better. Also grateful for hangover free mornings!
Sometimes life just seems to throw everything at us at the same time...it has certainly happened to you..but hopefully there's a wee light at the end of that dark tunnel...you sound a bit less sad and worried..I hope you are xxx

Morning all!

Rant Alert

Cheltenham Racing Week
Mr S is like a dog with 2 tails.
He's also just short of wearing black armband - because hey ho! he couldn't afford to spend thousands to fly to UK & pay exorbitant prices for everything. He's been going for 17 years - half funded by me but no more ........
I have little sympathy I'm afraid - and suggested a part-time job to fund next year.
He is 66 - fit & healthy and hasn't done anything for 12 years.
It's what I have to do to afford small luxuries.
I'm tired being the one working while he gets to : go to pub, go racing, go golfing.
It's a joke.

Thank you for listening ......

Morning
brit...............I looked up Moel Famau.............that's a walk and a half. A drag round the big field with Mikey leaves me face down on the settee.
Hope you know we're all with you tomorrow not in person but in spirit.

DriftyAlison0..............nice one.

I'm off into town to buy stuff that we don't need.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

My father in law still does the lawns and he's 96.

But it looks gorgeous !
JC you need to pat yourself on the back - instead of C 2 5K you've gone C 2 DRBF (Couch to Drag Round Big Field) in a short time remember - you are doing great

I think you should be sainted...I don't earn a huge amount so Joe coughs up his pension to the house bills he keeps a Max allowance and petrol for his bike..that's it...then the money is pooled and we decide what can be afforded..he's going on his bike on his own this year cos he doesn't feel confident with me and luggage and tbh I'm just as happy...but he's saved up for that for years..didn't realise MrS was only 66...feckin sure...tell him to get himself a job to keep himself in that style....jeez he'd HATE me!!

Looks FAB doesn't it Molls ?
I think I'd be gasping if it was anyway steep.
30 years of smoking took its toll in the end I think.

I may ask for a chest x-ray referral next time I'm at the doctor.

When he's finished hating me Molls :haha:
Don't get me wrong he pays his share of bills like private healthcare etc but my point was spending € K on just himself is not fair. He'd be broke for the rest of the year & I'd end up stumping up the necessary.

Our house is over 40 years old & could do with some bits being done - but we'll never afford it at that rate.
I think I'll move to a 2/3 bed new build - I'd be happy then. Red brick - open plan with no maintenance. And a big garden for him to flute around.
But I want it just down the road :haha:

I couldn't face maintaining this house any longer -- it was grand when we had a houseful of kids and their friends etc... and it was also the party house and suited that really well -- but none of that applies anymore - not to mention the garden -- huge and heavy maintenance.. I LOVE the position of the house -- across the road from the sea and 5 mins from work -- again -- that doesn't apply anymore -- hence the move -- I'm absolutely LOVING the compactness of the new house -- 3 decent sized bedrooms so loads of room for family when they come down.. a lovely open plan kit hen/dining area and a cosy sitting room just about the size of the area of the room that we sit on top of each other here anyways! oh and my favouritest thing -- a utility room as big as lots of kit hens!! haven't had a utility room since we did renovations here... and the garden a completely blank canvas --- I've such plans!!! and the lake is just around the corner -- you can swim canoe fish anything you like really... so yeah -- happy with it and so much less work.

We used to go on a good few holidays -- but we were both working -- or even when Joe retired we had some money from selling the shop -- but Covid sort of broke that rhythm and I'm happy enough with that -- one 'away' holiday or in this year one for Joe on his bike and one for me with Jilly (if she can afford it -- if not I'll happily go with a suitcase of books and a swimsuit all on my own!) -- and if and when we can afford it some little mini staycations (the kids usually give us those anyway for birthdays etc... Joe's BIG birthday this year so..... mmmm!!!!)

So yeah -- just cutting back - but truly happily so... can you IMAGINE finding the loot for the grog... jaysus we'll be hard pushed finding it for petrol this year!!!

Evening everyone

That looks like my kind of a walk Brit, enjoy. Don’t blame you for being cheesed off Satz. We are both still working and even if himself goes on his fishing trips it does not take away from other trips or the house. Covid has certainly put a stop to a lot of our travel but have a few things planned. Can see the advantage of downsizing, this house and garden is a lot of work. Will see how it works out with the cottage and how things are when he retires before making any decisions.

Work over for the week, nothing planned for Paddy’s day, will see how it goes.
