Re: April Army 2020

2 of 4 of my kids don't drink at all (in their 30's)...No back story ..just don't...the other 2 can take it or leave it...not so in their teens but completely grew out of it PTL! One of my sister's would sit over half glass of wine for 3 hours...the other one...complex really...I never saw her drink more than 2 drinks and never got 'drunk' per se.....but ye gods she used to get so very very angry...according to treatment centre her drink problem was as bad as mine...apparently quantity has little to do with it.
I'm lucky in that family 'does' hold or held no fears for me...much harder being the drinker in the middle of that lot!

Sure you wouldn't have seen me drink more than 2 or 3 either, but you also wouldn't have seen me knock back a few sneaky ones as I was pouring behind the fridge door or before the first drink was served or from the hidden bottle somewhere.
Always a back story satz123.. older brother sober 11 years this August, almost JCs twin. He's an AA man and very involved. He'll attend meeting over here too while he's over.
Functioning alcoholic, own company with 20 or so people working for him. Would start the day on vodka. Of course there are many more layers but he's very open to the family and a 4 buddies only, one is his sponsor (friends husband, sober since mid 20s).
Other brother I'd say falls behind me. Was going down a rabbit hole and didn't like it. Doesn't talk about it, but then neither do I. I nearly would now if my sister brought it up, but its old news now!

No --- I know E didn't drink more than that --- she is/was a control freak -- had had every psychological disorder imaginable over the years --- all undiagnosed to my knowledge despite the fact she herself is a doctor...(physician heal thyself!!) -- I could say 100% that she was one of those people you hear about that 'shouldn't drink' --- and as I say there was never anything but anger there when she picked up the 1st glass... as I type that I sound naive.... but really truly -- I just know about her... -- now whether she self medicated with calmy drugs (she certainly needed them)..... wouldn't have been an impossibility --

So a few addicts in the family Mary? Ironically there are none (with drink anyway -- gamblers -- god yeah -- and as I say -- yer wan could well have been raiding the medicine chest) in my family --- Joe's family is riddled with alcoholics --- his brother and sister both drink alcoholically (course it's not a bother cos it's all in the pub) -- his father was a raving alkie -- drank away houses - businesses - crashed cars galore --- and his grandfather the same -- yet I'm the one who ended up in treatment!

I promise I'm going now in a minute -- literally holding my breath for WW111 to break out -- Joe and Jilly bicker and fight a bit -- well she does and he bites his lip - as best he can -- but apparently the 'stuff' in our house and the apt. has to go this week -- tbh she has so much shite in our house that I don't think it'll physically fit in her new house -- but jesus it has to go -- we have to get this house ready for painting and the wee apt. as well -- he's losing the head and I'm dreading the fall-out -- very VERY thankful to be going back to work tomorrow!!!!

Re: April Army 2020

Morning from the hip ward,
He's using crutches but he's fine................they used a twilight anesthesia and popped it back into place. He'll need that hip replacing eventually. He'll be back at work by Thursday
He's making noises about going back tomorrow but I threatened to break his fecking neck if he did. The S&H brought him home yesterday afternoon. Should have put a ribbon round his neck and he could have sung Happy Birthday to me.
We had so many people come to visit himself and say Happy Birthday to me.............they all went with doggie bags of food that we'd planned for my birthday party.

satz123.............all has been forgiven as he bought me a hanging egg chair for my birthday.

Bacinabit a visitor has arrived to see the invalid has arrive.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

oh I'm delighted he's on the mend and home and all... didn't know hips could dislocate if they weren't fake ones... learn something every day!!

Well I headed down to have a wander in Arrow --- local fancy hardware shop (achully was looking at the bubble hanging chairs for the garden -- very nice!) .... by the time I'd come home -- my very own MrBean (Joe could cause chaos in silent monastery) -- he had becalmed my two awkwardist sprogs - borrowed a car for Wednesday so he can go down to the house and start painting before I join him on Friday -- and persuaded Jilly that all her stuff will be moved in the next week --- latherin heart --- still scratching my head how he did all that!!

RUSTERS - :egad: Sligo ????
2 seperate murders up there last week.

I'm jealous of course I can't shaggin' go anywhere while YS is still here. FFS !!
Sorry - I tell a lie - I almost got to Waterford to collect YS bike etc tomorrow - but it appears there is no room for me & Rosie .............

Did I tell ye that his plans to move to Waterford & maybe make a life down there were scuppered by the Secondary Care gang ? They told the young fella that he was to getting digs with that he should not allow anyone who has relapsed live with him - even though he left their care some years ago!
Kinda understandable though - his sobriety needs to be protected.
So YS now being treated as a pariah - by the people who 'cherished' him a few short weeks ago.
Not ideal, for someone who is trying to stay sober, to keep pulling the rug from under everything he tries to do to get back on track.

No idea what time it is so just waves. The phone never stops ringing to see how Mr. JC is who btw is fine apart from the ctutches. We're (both of us even hop along Mr JC) about to Mikey for a walk. Poor wee pup has been forgotten due to Mr. JC's hip.

satz123.........so sorry to hear about your mum.

Applied for my free bus pass last night............the on-line form was so fecking complicated I think I might have applied to become a spy by mistake.

Re: April Army 2020

A question Army:
If your niece was outed for pretending to visit but actually stealing over 2k from her grandmother (your mother) suffering from dementia. She was warned to stay away.
How would you feel if then a photo of said niece in the Nursing Home with her arms around said mother was posted to WhatsApp today ? With FOUR others and no masks on.
And my thick shit of a brother thought it was great ?

I lost it of course - cannot get over how irresponsible it is.
a) She was made aware that she is not welcome anywhere near my mother - that what she did was elder abuse.
b) She is a very sick lady and FIVE of them indoors with no masks all crowded around is just wrong. One more infection this year will be the end.

Quick hello from the hills of connemara. Fabulous place here, loads of space, we will explore more tomorrow.

Glad Mr JC got sorted JackieClaire. And your plans all going well too Molly.

Thats not right satz123, it's just a photo opportunity. Probably has it posted all over Instagram or snapchat.. People would drive you bonkers, but don't let her. You've enough to be getting on with. When does YS move out?

Rustop, your having some lovely trips. Weather doesn't look too bad at all for the next few days!
