Hi Kev...I've replied to you in the past and you were very honest in that you didn't want to stop altogether...your head wasn't in it really and I got the impression at that time that you didn't think your problem was that bad.
That's the jump you have to make...when you accept that booze is ruling and potentially going to ruin your life...it's a doddle...it really truly is..you don't need any other reason...look at the reality and look where your last drink of the night brings you (mentally and/or physically) and just decide...that's it..going to rule my own life. The fear of sobriety stops a lot of us from stopping...it did me for a long time..but the joy of being your own boss quickly enough takes over.

think deep down i always wanted to quit but found it too much fun not to. problem wasn't that bad as others but that's hardly any help to my own situation (i.e. just saying someone else is worse doesn't help me. that applies to all walks of life)

Good for you...what I would say now tho is....think ahead...think of potential stumbling blocks (parties..lads nights out...weddings etc) and make a plan...you will be so friggin proud of yourself and also amazed at how many people around us aren't actually swilling the drink like we were...
I too loved the fun...I often think I was addicted to the fun rather than the drink:welldone:

When your trying to find a reason to drink, just think of the day after drinking. That alone will tell me that no reason is good enough to drink.
