Re: July Army 2022

hi Army!

thanks for all your kind words yesterday! i definitely have some stuff to work on, along with learning to better ride the waves.. had a lovely day at the lake which made me feel better!
Molly, i think you have a point! things bothered me while i was drinking as well, but not as much.. and tbh, they're such little, stupid things.. one of my problems with men has always been accepting them as they are! i mean, it's not like they don't have a lot of crap to put up with with me, ffs!! still i'm in awe of all of you here.. seems like everyone is in a long term relationship that they're happy in.. respect!! so glad that Max was just playing hide and seek!

i think both wedding venues look gorgeous! though i'm with the most of you on not really enjoying them! fortunately for me, Berlin seems to be a place where people don't really get married..??

Mary, not sure if i already congratulated you on 7 years.. CONGRATS!

something else i wanted to say, but can't remember what.. last super hot day here, hopefully! 35° and i'm not moving from my spot in front of the fan..

lovely Monday, all!

Afternoon everyone

Love the wedding venues but glad I’m not on the invitation lists.

Laughed about Max. Our little rescue did the same thing not long after we got her. Had half the neighbourhood looking for her and she was locked in our en suite and not a peep out of her for hours.

Daughter got home ok, no delays and her luggage came too. Tomorrow is my last day at work for nearly three weeks. Really looking forward to the break. Heading west after work tomorrow for a few days. No work this time, just relaxing.

Ride the waves --- yes -- I'd forgotten that -- and a very large stumbling block for me was that I thought once that - seemingly overpowering- thought/urge/impulse to drink hit me that it wouldn't go away without satisfying it... that was something I actually had to learn --- and once you know that it does go -- it always goes --with either distraction or food or walk at the lake -- that was a game changer for me back then.

Everyone here in long term stable relationships --- oh my -- well I can only speak about mine... it was extremely tempestuous back in the early days -- and the middle days -- I could solely blame drinking -- even non-problematic drinking many moons ago - but I did find Joe very difficult to live with -- he had a difficult childhood and really didn't know how to give and take in a relationship -- but Aftercare changed ALL that --- it was magic -- we learned so much about each other -- and it still works all these years later --- absolute magic! but don't forget Elsie -- the public face of any couple is often a lot more tranquil than the reality ;-)

Is your daughter coming down to Mayo with you? it's lovely down here at the moment -- not too hot - just lovely t-shirt weather.. Simon (my son) rang me a few mins ago to say he has Covid -- he was here last Thursday but I'm feeling grand... and he's okay so will just presume it's grand

omg --- the truth of that story... Joe had an old drinking buddy - Tommy - and he was the greatest nosiest full of shite ex-civil servant you ever met in your LIFE -- couldn't stand him -- his wife was my friend - could never understand how she put up with him. Anyways -- he retired a couple of years ago and decided he was going to 'take on' the seagulls... they are no better or worse than any seaside town (if they had suddenly taken over in the last 6 weeks since we left I'd have heard -- most of my family still live there) - in fact Howth would be a lot worse imo - but he has every councillor - TD - government official -- TORMENTED about the poxy seagulls -- Joe had to stop meeting him cos of his obsession - he wouldn't talk about anything else -- guessing he's stirred up some other shower of eejits.... ffs -- can't escape the nonsense anywhere!!!!

Yes I'd agree - not having seen the Brig - but I know Howth is mad with them. So is Skerries where MrS's sister lives.
And sure I live inland & I heard seagulls this morning.
Apparently they don't have to depend on the sea for food any more with humans eating so much & wasting half of it.....

Half of them are not even 'sea' gulls - just gulls :haha:

Remember being on relief in Howth library ..myself and a colleague having chips down harbour during lunch hour...a seagull swooped and robbed a full bag of chips from my pals hands!!

I'll let them know you miss them & ask them to go over and have a play on your roof for a while.
You're welcome !!

Morning all.
Getting tired of this waking early - 'specially on my days off.
No intention of moving for a few hours.

Germans arriving today right in the middle of my getting the ol hair done. My hairdresser said she was up my way & rather than me travel down, she'd do it here.
And I said "ah sure feck it the more the merrier wandering around the house" :egad: and YS trying to work from home !! Good luck with that.

Then DD wants to go out for chicken wings - says she's tired of German food. I think she means it involves a lot of meat i.e. fatty pork etc
So tomorrow we'll have 5 adults + and excited dog running around trying to get ready for a family wedding. My idea of a nightmare.

Good morning everyone

I’m tired just reading about it Satz, good luck. Thankfully I just have one daughter home. Other one away on course and hubby fishing. Nice having time with her on her own. She is coming west with me and all the dogs! Have a few nice things planned, just have to get my last day at work out of the way. Waves to everyone.

Honey's I'm home..
Well that read back took me an age, was like a novel :haha:
My sister did a big renovation on her skerries house and omg, the seagulls swarmed in (you couldn't be outside at one point), attracted to the glass or the roofs maybe.. anyway, had to get the guys out to put up the roof spikes and not a bother since. My folks the same.

Enjoy the wedding satz123, has YS moved down to the sticks yet?

Myself and Stirs had a lovely coffee, for the record, she looks HALF her age. Georgous! So bizarre knowing quite a bit about someone but never having met them in person. New fact, Stirls is way more tolerant of heat than I am!

Glad to see you back JackieClaire. Its all weddings this summer. Glad we have none. Big family reunion in Sept.. but thats not as bad.
I did meet up with some cousins in Athens and I was worried as the last time, the drink flowed heavily. Interestingly, 1 had a single glass of wine and the other stuck to sparkling water, same as me. No explanations.

Glad Max found and well done starty, your motoring along.
Very jealous of your time off Rustop, finding it hard to get back into it this week..
lifechange, has the dip passed? It really will and I think knowing that makes a difference. For me, i just felt a bit flat.. ' is this it' feeling. Sometimes it's easy to forget the morning anxiety, the horror reflected back in the mirror, feeling of disgust and shame along with a banging head and hairy tongue. Knowing that I don't have to be that person again makes me happy!
AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:
