    Re: July Army 2022

Morning and an early one for me as I leapt out of bed in a panic as I thought the district nurse was coming to check my eyes and ears. Luckily Mr JC hadn't left for work and reminded me I go to the fecking optician and I go to Boots for my hearing aids. I'd dreamt it all.

I hate seagulls. Many moons ago one pinched a whole bag of chips out of my hand and I've never forgiven them. They're just flying rats.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

My kids would be horrified if they only got 6 weeks holiday it's 3 months here, which is bonkers! But it does give them time to work during the summer, so I suppose that's something.
Even primary schools are 8 weeks!

Morning JC. I like that, flying rats.
One shat (shit?) on me a few years back. Not sure how he managed the angle, but it went right into my ear
It was massive and warm, I am still disgusted thinking about it. I may have seagull ptsd.

              Morning Army!

Welcome back, Mary.. so glad you had a nice time and how fun to meet up with Stirly.. that's sooo cool. interesting that the rest of your family was also drinking water.. good on everyone! at the top of the dip now.. thank you for reminding me of the "flatness".. i have definitely tended to be a roller coaster kind of person (as prob. a lot of us have?) and i have a lot less drama in my life when i don't drink.. which is VERY nice but not my norm..

Molly, what is Aftercare? sounds like a great thing!

Satz, hope you have/had? a lovely time at the wedding! have to laugh, thinking of chicken wings as a light food!! where in Germany do the Germans live?

all the talk about seagulls had me laughing.. had no idea they're such a nuisance!!! we sometimes have a few flying over alexanderplatz, a big, quite open space (for being in the middle of a huge city) near a smallish river flowing through Berlin.. and i always think, oh how nice! reminds me of being at the beach at my aunties in CA..!:congratulatory:
              now i know the truth!!!!

Rusty, have fun with your daughter! i used to love to have time with just one.. now that's all i have and love it when we can all get together!
Jackie, thank goodness mr JC was there! you could have been waiting for hours!

              have a nice Wednesday everyone!

                  Morning all.

@lifechange they live in Munich and from how they describe it it seems to be stuck in a time warp.
It is not a criticism. They are just totally true to their culture. Young & old will still go around on a normal day in lederhosen ?
Everyone is fit & healthy & outdoorsey.

They say there is very little western US type influence there. No McDonald's, Starbucks etc. where they are anyway.
Her job is with Sky / Now television trying to promote new products = but they are finding Germany difficult to get going. I think it's cos they are probably too busy to be bothered staring at the tv for 3/4 hours a night. They'd be out hiking or something

I loved that when I was there.

Joe's belated birthday present arriving today..its really lovely garden furniture the kids got him..saw it at Bloom and it was stunning..

                      Morning,
Mr JC's 4 years younger than me.......no early retire for us.

I had Mikey out yesterday. We've had him over a year now and would have thought by now he's sniffed every blade of grass by now............ apparently not. I'm sure I've got one arm longer than the other as we're wandering along and he stops for a good sniff.

Off to the craft thingy at our local church shortly...............shall I wear my lederhosen.

                        Good morning everyone

Only ever been to Berlin, would love to see other parts. The lady we bought this cottage from was German from Munich.

Out ahead of you Molly, been up to the woods already with the doggies for an hour and sitting outside now having my breakfast. Not sunny but pleasant and nice to just chill. Table and chairs came with cottage, very basic. Was it an Irish manufacturer who made yours? Must add that to the list of all the other stuff I would like.

Going shopping and picking up lunch when herself gets up. Then seaweed bath and dinner on the way back for later in the day. Could get used to this.

It's a good while since we bought it -- it was out of stock at the time (cos of Bloom I'm guessing) so we got it way less expensively --- we got it from Rathwood in Carlow (online - don't think I've ever been to Carlow!) not sure who actually makes it tho..
Free delivery all the way up here to Mayo so not complaining!

Enjoy the wedding Benjy -- if you can ;-)

                            .
I worked in McDonald's in Munich for a summer in the early 90s! They sold beer :eek-new: they probably still do.
I came home the heaviest I ever was, a big rolly polly.
Been to Germany a few times since and always love it. My kids do too, they all took German as their foreign language. Unfortunately we are all collectively rubbish at languages (:worthy: Google translate).
Wasn't mad about the cuisine, but that's probably bad choices by us more than anything.

Do you go somewhere for that (the sea?!). I know you can buy dry seaweed. The slimy stuff 'icks' me. So does touching fish in the sea..

It was a tradition along the west coast. My grandmother used to go to the original one in Enniscrone, Sligo. It’s still there, an actual bath house, steam cubicle and hot sea weed bath. Bit slimey but OMG your skin feels amazing afterwards.

Voya in Strandhill is lovely too and much more modern. Try it if you are ever in this part of the country.

Went to Carlow once to a wedding Molly, never been since.
