Super Sober Shout Out Sunday, July 24, 2022

I'd like to see a big SUPER SOBER SHOUTY OUTY from members who have been here a while, those starting out again or those just starting out for the very first time.........don't forget to shout LOUD AND PROUD!

Don't be shy and give it a try, remember each and every one of us here started with a day one!!!!

SHOUT IT LOUD AND SHOUT IT PROUD. STAY STRONG AND KEEP THINKING POSITIVE ONE AND ALL. LET'S GIVE OUR BEST TOGETHER

By using the time and date app........ you'll know whether you've a roundy number or not a roundy number..........Date Duration Calculator: Days Between Dates

For me (Sunday) it is 2749 days from the start date to the end date, or 7 years, 6 months, and 11 days including the end date.
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

To my amazement I have clocked up 3317 days from day 1 to today inkele:
      Or
      9 years, 1 month

Our sobriety is constantly tested. The further we move away from Day 1, the more we experience , the better we learn to cope.
Next week I have one of those days an Irish Family Wedding :egad:
I could never have coped with it without alcohol back in the day.

      Tactics include :

      • Staying the night in the hotel - so when it gets 'messy' I can escape.
      • Try to move around & talk to people.
      • Don't get stuck at the boring old farts table - or I may become one
      • Bring flats to change into .... I don't have the anesthetic effects of alcohol when high sandals start to hurt.
      • Try not to be too self-conscious to sober dance...
      • Try not to be embarrassed by MrS's drunk dancing.

So true! At least we get better at it with practice!

I agree, weddings are a big challenge to sobriety. They are long, and predicated around alcohol & drinking. Indeed, the only thing I ever liked about them was all the drinking! Your plan is sound, and similar to what I need to do to get through weddings. Especially the moving around and talking to people.

          4 years and 2 days!

            ‘Tis 653 for me!
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?
