Jesus Rusters I feel my house is manky. It need re-decoration - so I can't be arsed cleaning it because it still looks tatty.
God would love love love a new build - a shiny, freshly painted house.
I'm finding this one very old fashioned ........... too many doors for a start.
Then each room I go into is in dire need of modernising. Dull carpet, dull paintwork ..... just dull.
Ah well - in the spring I will get what's needed so no point cleaning what's there now:haha:
Now I have that off my chest .......... nighty night !! :llama:

Re: Army November 2022
Good morning everyone
What a beautiful sunny morning. Had the first frost of the winter but just back from walking the doggies down at the river. It was only fabulous, hard to be in a bad mood after it. Now speaking of sun I find that this wintery sun just highlights how manky everything is. Picking up a rug I ordered for the spare room in Ez living and then I better put my Mrs Mop hat on. If it were not for visitors coming I would not be arsed. With three dogs in the house it’s impossible to keep the place pristine.
Catch up with you all later.

The Germans will be here from 22 December - so I'll do a clean sweep before then.
They may have to bring little Barney as their dogsitter let them down
I'd LOVE that !!! :yay:

Re: Army November 2022
Waves to all.
We are car less. I'm not a mechanic but basically the engine fell out on the way home from work on Monday.......luckily he got a lift home............ the car rescue people brought him home.....we get it back on Friday from the garage. He took Tuesday and today off and has gone for wander up to Tesco.
Ma-in-law didn't go into the nursing home.................... she's down right against going iit........I did say she was going in yesterday but she changed her mind. Mr. JC and his sister got an ear full of no-one ever visiting. SIL pointed out someone visits her every day. Beside the nurse that changes her bandages on her legs every day, there's also one our nieces, S&H and his missus and wee Alfie who also visit frequently.
You're not going to believe it but Pa-in-Law has woken up (which was a bit of a surprise to say the least) and fully aware of where he is. He's absolutely fine on going to the nursing home. They're now busy making the Ma-on-Law's room in the nursing home into a room for two.
Mr JC and SIL together are visiting her again tonight..........I'll be hiding in the wardrobe.
Another sigh.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Who on earth keeps telling you PIL is dying and will never leave the hospital ? They should really get their facts right - must be very an upsetting for MrJC & SIL ?
MIL sounds like a right madam but don't worry they all say that no-one visits them - every one of them :haha:
Not sure if it's to get attention - poor me - or just to pile the guilt on those closest to them.
How will she take a room for the two of them ? They'll kill one another ? :egad:

Re: Army November 2022
Omg I can't keep up with the inlaws saga, you couldn't make it up JC!!
Ah here, my house (not the new kitchen, we are still on honeymoon terms) is so manky. It needs painting from top to bottom. Doors are the worst so I'm starting them this weekend. Mr M refuses to do it (all other jobs he will do but not painting. Ffs. He was a painter foe 10 years in america). I'm banking on the fact that I won't be up to scratch so he'll take over.
I actually like painting.
I'm not sure who's going to cook from now on.
Satz, painting and a few new cushions can do wonders too. Change the blinds. What's wrong with the doors? Can you paint them? I'll be here all week with professional advice :haha:AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Hi Mers. I have no patience for painting and MrS is useless. The last time me painted he just did the walls - no prep of the surface - no skirting - nothing. Paint was all over the carpet 'cos in his world - no need to cover the floor. No - I'll leave him out in the garden & pay someone.
My problem with doors is - there are too many of them :egad:
My MAIN problem is I am extremely jealous of SIL who has sold her house and moving to the home place - a small bungalow that BIL was left in MrS's father's will.
They have the proceeds of their house to do renovations - I f*cking never hear the end of it. He also got the land & his son has built a mansion on there.
I think that is why I'm discontented ......... and I'll have to ohh & ahh over it all
My little dream is to just get this house modernized a bit.
I'll think it though in New Year.Last edited by satz123; November 17, 2022, 02:43 AM.

Re: Army November 2022
And GOOD MORNING to h rest of ye.
YS comes home tomorrow.
So I'll be looking for :
a) Plans for the future
b) His 'prescription' in writing for staying sober. e.g. AA meetings, Aftercare, how to deal with triggers.
Problem is he is 41 but still acts like a 20 year old. He has never had any real responsibility or real consequences for his actions. He's always had a safety net.
No more - if he messes up - I will let him do it somewhere else. If he goes missing as before - I will leave him missing.
Will be very difficult but it needs to be done.
I am scoping out Al Anon meetings locally.
Mr S says he won't go - doesn't need it he says - so I will go myself.

Re: Army November 2022
Morning all
So sorry about your Inlaws situation JC. It really beggars belief. I was told my mum wasn't dying yet by the palliative care nurse. I KNEW she was. And she did.
Our house needs tarting up too. The damp needs doing first though but Mr S doesn't want to do it until the weather improves which I get. Imagine trying to dry plaster when its manky outside. I would love to live in a newer bungalow too. Old houses never look completely clean at least mine doesn't because the woodwork and stuff is tatty I think. Plus my dogs. That aint gonna change so it would be nice to have better woodwork and doors :haha:
I think Al Anon is a great idea Satz. I hope you both have the courage to do what you need. Cant be easy

Re: Army November 2022
Morning everyone
Good to see you Starty. As I said yesterday having an immaculate home with dogs is impossible but it is a home not a show house.
Don’t mind painting and have done wonders down in the cottage. Problem is I need to get motivated, bit like decluttering. Any help with that greatly appreciated Mary. Maybe reading about your endeavours will help.
Think Alanon is a good idea Satz. You need to look after yourself. What about getting one of those interior decorators who also do structural stuff. Remember reading about them. Might give you ideas. We have a bungalow and have the same problem in the hall, full of doors. It’s on the list.
Right need to bring his car for new tyres and do the grocery shop.

Re: Army November 2022
Well hello all! Very relevant here as I've just spent last 2 days painting in Jill's house...i LOVE painting and even tho I say so myself I've done a really good job.
We were very lucky with the new house..it was built 15 years ago by a rich lad and he obviously had an interior designer doing it cos the rooms all flow into each other...lovely colour schemes I wouldn't change. I like an upstairs ..I've never lived in a bungalow and I like going upstairs to bed...but each to his own..my mum always thought bungalows were for old people who couldn't manage the stairs so prob picked that up from her!!
Who on earth is giving those contradictory statements on FIL Jackie? I wouldn't listen to any of them anymore except maybe the consultant...very upsetting for MrJC and the sister..
Can only hope for you Benjy that the lad will go straight...I think AlAnon may be a great idea but if it puts you and MrS on different paths re. handling him....pity he won't go
Hiya Starty...missed you there for a while...and MrsA...you don't have to have anything to say...I talk shite EVERY day:egad:
Going out for dinner tonight with some of the sprogs so may have to scrape paint off the hands....and feet....and hair!!!!Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011
contentedly NF since 8/04/14

Re: Army November 2022
Morning everyone
Quick fly by as I am on my way out the door to crochet. Hope you enjoyed your meal out Molly. Are you on way to Kerry Satz or is he making his own way home? Take care of yourself.
Hope things are settling down with in-laws JC, mind yourself too. How are the doors turning out Mary? Do you use brush or those little rollers?

Re: Army November 2022
Morning,
Bad news first..................Pa-in-Law will not be coming home ever (he's still in hospital) He's slipped back into a coma and he's getting end of life care. What ever that means.
Ma-in-Law was whisked off to the nursing home yesterday by my SIL. She doesn't mess about.
Its the one we looked at on Sunday or was it Saturday and its lovely and luckily they still had the room.
Not easy to say but Pa-in-law is back in a coma and dying............there's no polite way to put it.
The house is now up for sale.
Mr. JC is like a pig in muck as he's so happy he got the car back today with a new gear box.It could be worse, I could be filing.
