Re: December Army 2022
Take heart ladies
Today is the beginning of the end of the cold spell.
Sunday here will be 13 degrees - I'm getting out my bikini for that !
AND the actual shortest day was 13th December - since the we have been gaining a few seconds extra light.
This was yesterday
Today is 2022-12-15, the sun sets at 16:05:49 and the 'grand auld stretch' tonight was 00 mins and 06 secs.

I always thought the solstice was IT?! My heart sings when the days stretch...always has done..remember walking across Merrion Sq after the Christmas break for the 5pm train and there was more light in the sky...and I was only a young'un then...can't wait to notice it!!Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

I am the same, love coming out of work after Xmas and noticing it getting brighter every week.
Came down to the cottage and it’s Baltic. Like you Starty Will be sleeping in many extra layers. Was beautiful driving down though. Trees covered in a white frost in the midlands, very postcard like.

Re: December Army 2022
13, holy shit, that's a big number! starty, do you ever use and electric blanket?
The window In the study where I work seemed a bit breezy (only 14 years old, munster bloody joinery), but I put that rubber seal on it and it's amazing now, fixed in minutes! I'm going around the house looking for any more windows or doors I can seal!
Big day tomorrow, I need to get my inlaws presents. They are terrible to buy for. Old school, old fashioned. I've given up on the exciting or meaningful present as it just comes back (I just laugh at this stage) but I refuse to stoop as low as my sil suggested, a voucher for their local supermarket.
It'll be more jigsaws and books and framed pics of the kids.
Any sign of YS?
Would be great to hear from LS too.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: December Army 2022
I draft proofed all my windows and doors in the summer IamMary its made an amazing difference. We also blocked up the chimney as all our warm air was being sucked up it. Now we only have to deal with copious amounts of condensation due to lack of ventilation! Our windows are 24 years old so really could do with changing them. Yep I have a heated throw which I use when I am working. Its amazing and not expensive to run. Im not keen on a lekky blankie in the bed though and would rather add the layers as they really do work wonders although probably dont look terribly alluring :haha:
Our temp goes up Monday. For today its still in the minus'

Morning all IamMary
YS left here a week ago yesterday. A few texts but nothing about when coming home. Says he is fine.
I did ask if he was coming home to sort himself out last Monday when I still believed he could salvage something.
Not asking again.
I think this will be a waiting game.
Below is my outfit for work tomorrow !Attached Files

We survived the night here. We really do take our central heated houses for granted. There is a range and a stove in the main room and we had both of them going at full blast from lunch time. It was comfortable by last night and we had a heater in the bedroom so we were ok . Very frosty last night and slippy on the paths in the woods. I had to turn back but they did have a good run.
You have done all you could Satz. It is up to him now. Hubby is the same as your in-laws Mary, prefers practical presents, things he uses all the time. Think we all feel we have to spoil loved ones with luxury presents but everyone is different.

Re: December Army 2022
Just a quickie and with some very sad news. Mr. JC's father died last night. Him and his sister are on their way to tell Ma-in-Law.
Weirdly he opened his eyes last night and gave the pair of them a big smile then went back to sleep and snored. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Sorry to hear that Jackie...sending lots of love to MrJC...very sad time for him...and the poor old Mam....all those years together..must be heartbreaking for her
Rarely bother with central heating Rusters..it gives me a headache ..but certainly using it now.. AND a big turf fire!
Re. bed attire Starty.... I have progressed to 3 layers AND wooly socks AND 2 hot water bottles...can hardly move for weight of duvet as well!
Had a bit of duck for dinner last night so made a cake for the birds with it...they are savaging it...little Robin in the middle fighting off the bigger lads..its hilarious!Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011
