I did mean to say had you heard from YS satz123.. maybe this is better, if he stays away until he's desperate to get sober.

He left here in just the clothes he had on that day - nothing else.
I'm doing the tough love thing that counsellors all say to do - but I wonder if they've ever had to make the decision to tell their son not to come home unless sober.
It's heartbreaking.

Of course you are heartbroken...it is so hard..but you haven't done this so you really have no choice...he's probably staying with someone he met in Kerry or even if it is a hostel...he'll have a roof over his head and give him time to decide if that is the sort of life he wants.. You've done so very much for him..now seems to be the time you say a few mammyprayers and I'm sure he'll be in touch with you properly sooner rather than later...sending hugs xxxxContentedly sober since 27/12/2011

I am at the stage that if that is the sort of life he wants - I'm not going to stop him.
It was always my worst fear - the mother of the local drunk
Of course MrS has told the 'other two' that we are meeting tonight - the pressure will be put on him to text him / go looking for him.
I don't think he'll be swayed this time - he's had enough.
But I'll be ready - I will take no drink-fuelled bullshit from them. I swear I stand up & walk out ...
27 minutes added to The Grand Auld Stretch yesterday :yay:
It'll be daffodils next .....Last edited by satz123; December 18, 2022, 03:13 AM.

YES ...you cannot really continue being the 'fixer' ..let them take over...just sounds like you've had enough...sometimes it's the right thing to let someone take over for a while xxContentedly sober since 27/12/2011

My heart goes out to you Satz, it is a truly horrible situation. Your 13 degrees has not quiet materialised but we have rain and hopefully it will wash away the ice.
Did most of my walk walking on the grass verge so that I would not slip. Dogs walked, horses fed (daughter working) so feet up now for an hour before I start decorating again.
Deepest sympathy JC to you and all the family. He lived a long life but it is still hard to say goodbye to them. Take care of yourself and Mr JC.
Waves to everyone else.

Re: December Army 2022
Just a quickie from Mrs. Doom and Gloom. Pa-in-Law died yesterday or was it Friday.................honestly I don't know what day it is.
With Christmas and the New year haven't a clue when the funeral will be.
And if I'm being honest I think Ma-in-law won't be far behind him.
The only keeping me going that Pa-in-Law is at peace now.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Just made a chocolate biscuit cake and some cranberry sauce. Think I’ll sit down now and watch a Xmas movie. Although the World Cup is on so might watch that with himself.

Watching the match...its a brilliant game...love the French but I'd LOVE Messi to finish on a high
Got as far as buying the cranberries (going to Jillys but bringing the dinner)...I find the dinner is the least of it ...I hate all the cleaning and starters and cakes and all the surrounding stuff so this year will be a walk in the park!! How long have you to keep the 5 dogs?(can you sense I'm in awe of you with d'animals!!??)Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: December Army 2022
Rant alert:
I swear MrS is a bully. We were going for a meal this eve @6pm.
Because we wouldn't leave Rosie alone for hours on end at night - I asked the couple with the kids to take her for a few hours.
Bearing in mind the kids have school in the morning _ I said I'd be home at 8:30.
First of all we were delayed going out due to the football.
We went for the meal but the service was shite. All the food is cooked fresh but took an hour between starter & main course.
Then of course with a few drinks on them they wanted to go to the pub - "for 5 minutes - for one" ?
I've been there many many times & I KNOW that never happens. I offered to drop them & they get a taxi home or I'd even pick up Rosie & come back & collect them.
No that wasn't good enough ....... so MrS got a snot on 'cos I refused to go in. The other two went in & we drove home with him in a strop like a spoiled child.
Even not going into pub for '5 minutes' it was 9pm before we got there to collect Rosie. And I hate being late.......... especially when someone is doing you a favour.
He took off then to the local - so really he didn't care where he got the alcohol in the end.
ALCOHOL IS A CURSE !!!
GGGGRRRR !
