Evening all, late checkin, waiting for this lot to calm down so we can put out the presents. No santa here, but they are still going through the motions!

My friend passed away yesterday. We just found out this morning. Life dealt her a cruel hand (car accident at 21 left her paralysed from the neck down), but she still went on to live the fullest life she could, got a masters degree, travelled and loved to eat out.
She was truly amazing. Without knowing it, she inspired me to get sober (her shit being a lot worse than mine).

So the floors didn't get mopped today, and the spuds didn't get peeled.. and it won't make a bit of difference tomorrow!!

Think I'll set an alarm clock for 3am. Kids hyper, all teenagers :hyper:

So sorry about your friend. Is she the girl that lost her Mam not too long ago ? Maybe I'm wrong.

I reckon in some way people choose their time to go - they just have had enough. Or are tired of being a burden.
She had it tough.

Try to enjoy your family today - she'd want that I am sure. This day is all about the 'kids' ......... no matter the age

Mine are 40 and until this year we have always gone through the motions.
Mam & Dad up - fire on - then 'kids' called to see what Santa brought.

Good morning everyone

Lovely relaxing day, plenty of food and presents. Daughter had to work last night so we had dinner before she went in. All over now for another year. When is your friends funeral Mary? So sad at this time of year.

Baltic here again this morning. Snow on the hills, took the dogs for a walk and the wind would go through you. Feet up now and intend to do as little as possible.

Easy drive down and back to York and it was lovely no traffic and back home in my own bed and made a new friend Ads Mum. The food was magnificent and poor Jenny looked like she's was pulled through a hedge and she was sooooooooooooo tired.

You may remember that I mentioned one of my dad's 6 sisters. Although 3 of them have already passed another one died on day before Christmas Eve (back to the doom and gloom). The two that are left one's away with the pixies (polite way of saying she's got Alzheimer's) but the the others is still the full shilling.

Now I've got to make myself look half decent as we're going to SIL's for lunch and tbh I'd rather hide under the duvet. But Mr. JC's mum has got a pass to get out of the nursing home to come so I can give her a gentle hug.

Glad you had a good Christmas Jackie...we're just back home now...had a fabulous few days...family all behaved themselves and Jilly and I did it all as a team...worked out perfectly....everyone else okay? It was nice you had your daughter for the dinner before she went to work Rusters...

Reposing on Wed. Funeral on Thursday.

Lovely day here too. Myself and my brother in law cooked, with a few helpers. was good craic. A few rounds of charades later and it was suddenly midnight.
Did nothing today except eat some more.
We just watched Glass Onion, netflix. I really liked it!

Not very nice here but dogs walked and ponies fed. Daughter doing 12 hour shift so I am filling in. Am sure work was a distraction Satz. When are the Germans coming?

Nice to have help in the kitchen Mary. Have to say my older daughter has been great this year.

Feet up, fire in the stove and going to read for afternoon.

Howdy all! Feet up here too...the lads are up marching in the forest ...apparently half the family are coming here tomorrow...so may have to do a bitta housework...but not right now!

Survived another day in the madness at work.
We were so short staffed - the difficult residents were all acting up - then one of the carers came up to the desk - her hair all over the place like she'd done 10 rounds with Tyson - and she said
"For f*ck's Sake this place is like an asylum"
Whatever way she said it & how she looked I cracked up laughing & then so did she ..... my face was sore afterwards :hahaha:

So not too bad a day - but very very busy.

Visitors are the WORST. You'd really want to slap one of them.
We run around getting wheelchairs, coats, walkers - organise visiting rooms etc for them and their 'loved ones'
All they have to do is sign their name in the visitors book - oh it's such a chore.
"No glasses, can't read that" :
"sigh....... what's this for"
"what date is it ?"
"What time is it" ? .....
