Re: February Army Thread

PSA: I am still drug free but I am going to rip off my left arm at the shoulder and lob it at someone. Going to attempt to contact the doctor tomorrow (they only allow you to submit a contact form between 8-9am and then call you 2-3 days later, or just text you what they're doing without even speaking to you, it's a terrible system), but I might have to take painkillers for their prescribed purpose if this doesn't let up because this sucks - I kept a small amount back in case this became an issue but am still resisting taking them because I know even if I do need them its just opening a can of worms.

Molly: glad Max is ok, you are legally obliged to refer to the cone as the cone of shame ever since Pixar released Up xD Saw this and thought of the conversations earlier, hope it shows up

Rosie was only small when she had her op - so I used a babygrow on her. Worked a treat.
No...I'm perfectly happy to go with the vet advice...they've done well with him so far and the cone isn't bothering him this morning...he only has to wear it when we aren't with him which will really only be at night for the next few days and he slept well last night so all good

Morning,
Thank all that is good in the world today is the last day of February..............I'm sure its two months long.

Luckily Mikey came vaccinated, neutered etc when he was rescued from Romania and brought over to the UK. He was fostered by a lovely couple who kept his brother. Mikey just casts hair everywhere. Our only problem at the moment is he's getting his summer coat on and there's shagging dog hair everywhere.

Battle_for_the_sun............I hear you on doctors.............. you can't get past the receptionists. I order my repeat prescriptions on line and they're delivered by post and I just popped in to see where they'd got to and was told that I just had to wait for the post. Luckily there's glass between us or I'd have dragged her across the desk and punch the smug smile off her face.
And that ridiculous phoning for an appointment at 8am is ridiculous drives me insane...............if you're ill who the feck can drag themselves out of bed to make a phone call at that time.
Have a look at Ibuprofen (the coated ones) that can be bought over the counter.

And I have to tell you that Mr. JC and I went to see Puss in Boots:The Last Wish on Sunday afternoon.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

They let you go in and speak to people on the phone? You're lucky xD we can't enter the surgery without an appointment, can only request appointments via econsult online (and half the time they just text you they sent a prescription somewhere rather than speak to you) and can only submit the form between 8-9am. They even review my asthma online and they're supposed to check my breathing for that, they just tell me to do it myself - we're apparently in one of the areas with the worst doctor to patient ratio in the country haha. I used to deal with the receptionists when I worked as a pharmacy tech and they'd speak to me like I was simple - I've only been handling medications for 13 years what would I know eh?

Can't do the coated ibuprofen either - unfortunately severe asthmatics can't take any NSAID drugs because they can cause asthma attacks haha - I might be in pain but I think I'll stick with breathing and in pain xD

Afternoon everyone

Delighted Max is home and improving. We did that with our big fella when he was neutered. She took holidays and he stayed with her 24/7, only put the cone on if not there and worked out well.

OMG the health service sounds horrendous from what both Battle and JC are describing. Don’t think we have gone that far yet. Have not been near a doctor in years but think you can still get to see them in person. The A&E’s are war zones but from what I have heard once you get in you are looked after.

Working week nearly over, sun is shining today, real feel of spring in the air.

Yup the hospital system here is very strained but it's functioning okay...and Joe's consultant signed off on him last month and advised him to deal with GP for medications etc...we've never met the doctor down here...but the bauld doctor rang Joe to introduce himself and to come down and see him soon bout his prescriptions etc.....thought that was good...Joe has free GP care as well cos he's now 70

Feel for you. Roz Purcell recommended lick matts for keeping them occupied. I tried to buy at the time but they were sold out. If you buy online, he will probably be recovered by the time it is delivered. Starty might have some ideas for you.

We can't give him anything to eat except those vile smelling tins of ....oh can't remember what they're called...the vet gave us 5 days worth of tins :-( AND he's skin and bone...poor little bugger...the lick mats look brilliant tho...often meant to get them when he was littler...ah he and we will be grand...its only a few more days!!

Glad max is recovering well Molly. How's Joe doing? That's a nice 'country' touch with your new GP.
Lots or GPs have stopped taking new clients now. My sister just moved, but only via nepotism.
satz123, how's the young fella doing?

Also, anyone know what was the deal with that poor woman Nicola Bulley, in terms of announcing her alcohol issues. What was the relevance to the case and why should Joe Public know about it?

Hi everyone,

Yep the health service here is in tatters unfortunately.

Molls, you can work with the tins of food he's allowed. What I often do to keep the boys happy for a bit longer is get a kong fill it with whatever they are allowed and freeze it. It takes a while for them to lick/paw/defrost the food out the middle. The concentration that they have in their little faces trying to figure out the best way of getting the food is lovely plus its exhausting for them and they dont have to move about much. Also, there are many puzzle feeders you can use that need work to find the food. Licky mats as rustop says are great as well and can also be frozen to make them last a bit longer.

We bought a gorgeous rattan sofa/chair/table thing for the new patio yesterday. Was on sale too! I asked how long it would be on sale for and they said once the suns out, price will go up again so I snapped it up. Was delivered yesterday afternoon! Only saw it at lunchtime. Happy days

God Mary, the Nicola Bulley case is a disaster. Cannot believe they announced her private issues to the world. The force are under investigation now for the way they handled everything. Yes, our police force are in tatters too. It seems like our country is going to the dogs at the moment.
