Molls, you can work with the tins of food he's allowed. What I often do to keep the boys happy for a bit longer is get a kong fill it with whatever they are allowed and freeze it. It takes a while for them to lick/paw/defrost the food out the middle. The concentration that they have in their little faces trying to figure out the best way of getting the food is lovely plus its exhausting for them and they dont have to move about much. Also, there are many puzzle feeders you can use that need work to find the food. Licky mats as rustop says are great as well and can also be frozen to make them last a bit longer.

We bought a gorgeous rattan sofa/chair/table thing for the new patio yesterday. Was on sale too! I asked how long it would be on sale for and they said once the suns out, price will go up again so I snapped it up. Was delivered yesterday afternoon! Only saw it at lunchtime. Happy days
never thought of the Kong....might try that today ...he's sleeping a lot so it's not too bad really...he's going for his check-up this evening

My horror feelings about all that is how he went from this wonderful mother (in the media) wife...dog owner to a complete basket case cos she was an alcoholic....my god its no wonder people won't talk out and somewhat normalise it as an illness....ffs what a mess!

Delighted YS is doing well...it does seem when a job rears its head it unsettles him so understand your hesitancy ...is he aware of that pattern himself?

Quite a lot of folks down in the treatment centre -- particularly the ones with fairly 'high powered' jobs -- their jobs were considered a trigger - so much so that many changed direction altogether -- a doctor went home and quit his practice - he got a job in a local shop and was the happiest camper in the world -- I was very cynical at the time that they would expect him (well he did do it of his own accord but....) to quit after 7 years studying but ---- everyone is individual tho -- I do know in the latter days of my drinking any days that I was going somewhere different in work - maybe doing a course or something - I know I drank to 'ease my nerves' --- nonsense!!!!

What did the dogs behaviour imply Starty? I presume they analysed him?

Well they were about to get a behaviourist in to analyse the behaviour which was 3 weeks too late if you ask me! A dog will usually follow its owner. I dont understand why Willow didnt. She is a spaniel who liked swimming in the river too. So I am baffled as to why she remained on the bank if Nicola was in the water. The only thing I can think of is that Nicola didnt go in at that spot. I understand that particular spot was a field with gates so maybe she left the dog there and went in at another spot. Its all so awful and doesn't seem on the outside to have been handled well at all.

I don't know much about dogs -- of course we had dogs when I was a child - and we've Max now 2.5 years -- but ALL of them were like glue -- I would have thought for sure a dog would follow to kingdom come..... it is terribly sad -- but on every level -- apparently there was a man's body pulled out of a canal somewhere in Britain a few weeks ago and no one paid any attention -- very sad - the media (and the police in this case) have an awful lot to answer for.

                Morning

Maybe she let him off lead for a run and when he came back she had disappeared, would explain why he was so agitated and had not followed her into the water. Who knows but very sad either way, also the way it was handled by the police.

Delighted too about YS and you know if he starts a new job and stays on track that is another hurdle out of the way. Hope for the best, you have done all you can.

Hi Peeps. I would like to be recruited into your Army. I have mad skills pedanting and pontificating. I quit drinking years ago, and used MWO during that time. Now, I need to give up weed. No real desire to do that whatsoever.

But weed has a way of killing any kind of motivation, and it can be quite a good crutch. Really good. And legal. And cheap. When I finally quit drinking, I was like every alcoholic who finally gets there - I would have done ANYTHING to escape. I do not feel that way this time around.

But, maybe I'll get some motivation here.

                    Welcome always Dragon!!
Weed isn't legal here in Ireland and have often thought I'd probably (definitely) use it if it was....mmm motivation....that's a tricky one.
When I was smoking cigarettes I really REALLY had no interest in quitting...but my husband nagged...enough motivation...nah. .so I told myself I'd deal with one addiction at a time .. that procrastination couldn't last forever...so eventually I picked my motivation as money....did the sums and realised I could get my teeth straightened (long term wish) for 3 years cigarette money....so I did.. once committed I didn't have the money to smoke even if I was gagging

Just my story. You need to find your teeth straightening deed.....what is it you CAN'T do cos of lack of motivation....something you really want to do??

                      Evening all

Bit of a sh*t show of a day - insomnia and nerve pain are driving me slowly insane, or quickly tbh haha. Had maybe 3 hours sleep, I've had to take painkillers again against my wishes - in so much pain I had to type an email to my doctors surgery with one hand asking them to please give me something - of course they said they'd send more painkillers to my pharmacy by end of day and didn't. My boss again proved she's an amazing lady, offered to type notes for me for class on her own time if I was struggling, I'm doing ok with it but it was such a kind and genuine offer. I did a whole year before only being able to use one hand, I hate being back in this position. Last time this happened I completely imploded, of course this time my career is less reliant on two working arms but its still a worry, I'm hoping its a short term set back, i don't know what did it. Been so spaced out all day, just sleep deprived and out of it on meds, miserable. 'Course I feel like I'm waking up now, when I should be in bed in a few hours.

Also the anniversary of one of my heroes passing - if you get chance check out this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp1rL7DI_D4 - Mark Lanegan on vocals, hell of a voice, hell of a man, met him a couple times, saw him many more, only 57 when he passed but the life he lived he did well to make it that far.

I think the Nicola Bulley case is destined to be one of those horrible landmark case studies in every profession handling confidentiality and the press. A sad legacy for the poor woman.

Nice to meet you Dragon - I used to smoke weed until I started having adverse reactions every time - panic attacks and the like. I'm generally a super motivated person but stoned I could lie in bed for hours and do nothing, worth a quit to get the motivation back, specially if there's anything you want to get done.

Inchy, im not sure if your fully up to speed, Satz's fella is a bit older than you and hes been through the ringer. His quit isnt too far ahead of yours.

Welcome Dragon, your hired. Whats different for you this time?

Got my hair done. Im a ride :sohappy: until the morning when its ruuned and i have no inclinatiin to help it.

Yea i was wondering what the police were trying to get at on the Nicola Bulley case. Even on the worst hangover days, or still drunk from the day before, would you be so disorientated as to fall into a river. Maybe. Anyway, its really none of our business, a sad and tragic death.

                              Good morning everyone

Glad you feel like a ‘ride’ Mary, nothing like a good hair do to boost morale. Welcome Dragon, not much help on the weed issue but like any addiction, accountability and checking in here might help. Sorry you are in so much pain Battle, hope you get it’s sorted.

How is the patient today Molly? Absolutely beautiful here this morning. Frost early but sun is now really shining. Did a very early walk down by the river as I had to drop hubbys car in for a service. Now the dreaded grocery shop!

I visited Ireland one time, and we stayed one night in a castle, and I'm pretty sure it was in Killarney. Ireland was great, beautiful, but castles are dark with long, narrow hallways, and all kinds of creepy vibes! I would rather have stayed at a Comfort Inn.

Woke up to close to two inches of snow this morning! That is most unusual for Oregon Coast, which has a climate not unlike Ireland. There was no beach at all yesterday. Just huge breakers and lots of foam.

Nerve pain sucks rocks! My heart goes out to anyone putting up with that h*ll. I sometimes get it in my spine and floating in a hot bath can help.

I have been dealing (or not dealing) with a stalking situation that may get a big break today. I'm hopeful! It would be easier to find motivation if I'm not forever trying to escape abusers.

But I have tincture and vape, and we're gonna have a wake & bake in the snow because f*ck motivation.

                                It is a beautiful morning.
