My favorite things if I am not drinking are:

    exercise
    dry heat sauna
    organizing my life
    having fresh flowers
    romp with bf

There are 2 movies I want to see currently which is unusual for me:

    Evening
    Sicko

Uh yeah, cleaning out, sugar, chocolate. Cheese for a while... good food (i might as well treat myself) and i have developed a nice little interest in Poker. Don't play for real money, but i love studying the game... I've had a few bad days with it though, but things are looking up.

I could practically live on sugar instead of alcohol, but it makes me feel almost as bad sometimes.

What have you replaced your alcohol with?

Great thread! I love to read, cook and I also spend an inordinate amount of time on the computer doing "research"--I am interested in everything! It sounds a little...I don't know what is the word here...but I love to learn new stuff--

Actually, it's just come to me! I replaced alcohol with my LIFE! Yeah, I know, I know, shades of the "say yes to life" stupid anti-drug campaigns of decades ago....but, you know, it is my LIFE that I lost sight of when I was drinking...and I am totally addicted to having it back! I would also add that I think a spiritual practice of some sort is a tremendous help to staying AF--of course, this is very personal and individual but or me this has been essential....

Still, I could use a healthy addiction to exercise.....

I love riding my motorcycle alone at night, it seems to bring me closer to nature.

I love eating flavorful foods and trying to figure out what each taste is.

I love being alive again. I am like a kid, I hate to go to bed because I am afraid I will miss something

I love strong coffee and a big cigar after a good meal.

I didn't mention work did I. There is a reason. hehe

What have you replaced your alcohol with?

            My new hobbies

Agree with everyone else this is a fab thread.

            My new things are

Cooking - making myself proper meals and trying new recipes - I even ventured into making a pannacotta yesterday with real vanilla yesterday. When I was regularly drinking and bingeing I used to not eat, then binge eat with hangovers

Gym - I joined a gym through work and go about 3/4 times per week.

One thing I have found that helps is to buy AF free beer and chill it so when I come home I can have some and a nice cigarette or 5.

Also am also slightly obsessed with working out how money I am saving not drinking I keep an online diary to help with this.

Also lots and lots and lots of herbal / fruit tea.

That's a really great way of describing it. And i am hearing ya on the exercise front. I keep planning to join a gym, but it's next month, next month and so it goes.

And tea, good idea about the spread sheet. I might resurrect mine.

What have you replaced your alcohol with?

Unfortunatley, I just recognized this in myself this weekend. My eating disorder is coming back or is back. All i can think about these days is loosing weight. I was anorexic once. I am trying to get this under control before it gets uncontrolable. Just a day at a time with everything I suppose
