    Miracle food!

Jamms, you reminded me that quinoa is awesome in a good vegetable soup. It adds protein and the benefits of a whole grain while still keeping the soup light.

I can't imagine this being bad for anyone. I don't fix it for my family because A. It's different and they won't like it:upset: and B. My hubby has diverticulosis and I'm afraid it would be as bad as seeds for him. Otherwise I think it is very healthy!!

          Miracle food!

Quinoa is excellent to serve to anyone of any age. Kids actually lovee it because it is very light, in fact lighter than rice. For kids you could make a simple cheese sauce and mix with quinoa. My daughter cannot get enough of it. As suggested earlier in the thread it is really good to throw leftover Q in soups as no one can tell it is in there.

And I think your husband could eat it very easily LV. It is very similar to couscous, which is nothing more than small pasta, so if he can eat pasta he could eat this.

Thank you I have some of that in my cupboard. Neatly unopened in the box!!! Have no spinach, but do have Superfood Greens in powder form, so I am going to give that a good go and see if I dance around my kitchen and lose the weight.:thanks:

I bought some Red Quinoa (bulk) recently and didn't wash it first...Bitter is the only word that comes to mind.Boxed stuff seems to be prewashed and I LOVE IT.

I make quinoia for the kids and call it cous cous (which they love). We always put a saucy stew over it, so they don't notice the difference (though I notice... it tastes much nicer than cous cous-- with a subtle nutty flavour).
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

                    Miracle food!

I cooked this for the first time the other day and was super impressed -- the family weren't excited as I but tough cookie.

When you mention tossing it into soups, sauces and adding it to other meals -- do I cook it first or throw it in raw?

Dee Bee - you can toss it in uncooked but remember it will soak up lots of liquid.
Oh, speaking of 'tough cookie' - I found a recipe for quinoa cookies. it's at my office - I'll try it and if it's good I'll post it here.

One2 - off you go to quinoa! (RINSE IT!!)

I made a superfood salad the other day. Quinoa, cucumber, broccoli, bean sprouts, peas, feta, toasted pumpkin and flax seeds toss with olive oil and lemon. My daughter calls it "spa salad" and it's supposed to maintain all day energy. Very tasty.
