    Miracle food!

MOW, hi sweetie. I also found a recipe for Quinoa Waldorf salad. Apples, walnuts ( I prefer roasted pecans), celery, and use plain yogurt as your dressing. Any chopped herb would be perfect, i.e. mint or parsley. Cook the quinoa in apple juice and a pinch of cinnamon, instead of water. Add lemon juice with the yogurt and throw in some golden raisins. Enjoy!

          Miracle food!

          Hi Anna,
I have quinoa on my shelf. I make a lot of soup, and have it daily for lunch. I often add quinoa if I want a little starch. Most of my soups are vegetables with chicken stock, with some beans or a little meat.

Hi Sunbeam! I have just spent a very happy hour reading through all the quinoa posts and there is a very persuasive argument to include it daily in one's diet. I fully intend to do so over the next few weeks, when I'm at home, that is and will post here to let people know how it goes.

              Miracle food!

Hi guys - I've never tried it and currently live on pasta or rice so this sounds like a great healthy alternative. I just googled iit and it says you need to soak it first before boiling it, is this right or can you just boil it and eat it?

Chill, the quinoa I buy from Amazon.com is pre-rinsed, so I do just cook it without rinsing, which is really nice because it is small and goes through most colanders. So, be sure to read the description. There are so many ways to fix it, I need to start cooking in again. Thanks for bringing this up to the surface!

I cook it straight from the freezer like brown rice, no problem. Like mullet. Only I like mullet better.

Those colanders with the handles are usually small enough for rinsing. I cook mine in a rice cooker which works well.

                        Miracle food!

I was surprised to see this thread here - I am a quinoa junkie! I use a very large sieve to rinse mine - I make enough for about three days and keep it in the fridge. I sometimes will just add some milk and a dob of jam and have it like rice pudding - yum, or eat it just out of the container - I love it! I am going to go to some of the links here that you all have suggested - it really is a wonderful food!

Great to see so many interested in and using Quinoa. I think it's the best grain(although not really a grain) ever.

I have stocked it for over 10 years and find that some batches are cleaner than others. In the past I might have to rinse several times but the last few batches have required absolutely no cleaning. I have a little toaster oven in the store and just pop it in a casserole dish and it's ready in 15-20 minutes to convert into breakie, lunch or supper.

                            Have fun with it!

Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

I became a quiona convert after reading this. Has any one researched chia seed health benefits? It is pretty impressive so I have been mixing a bit of chia in with my quinoa and I feel great. Haven't felt this good in years. Really good seeing I am detoxing off large amounts of wine every night.
