    Breaking Other Addictions

I wanted to start a thread that people could post if they felt they were getting control of the alcohol addiction - but felt they were "cross addicting" to other things or substances. I think it's fairly common to do. So this is for anyone out there that wants to drop any other addiction they feel they are becoming attached to on this "MY WAY OUT" Journey with Alcohol.

I don't even think you "should" "fess up" to what the addiction is. You can just use this thread to post your own thoughts, progress or slips. You obviously can post that addiction but I don't think we want it to be a :hijacked: with any one topic since My Way Out is about Alcohol. It would just be a place to post if you felt you were "cross addicting".

Best Wishes everyone who wants to live an "addiction free" life!!

Oh, come now Liv--spill!! Is it sex? Raw foods? Diet mountain Dew? Just kidding, you know I love you and have so much respect and admiration for you. Whatever it is, it can't be as bad as the alcohol and ciggies! Is today 6 months?

My new addiction. The Internet. This place. I spend way yonder too much time here!!

Internet, definitely. MWO, eBay, Amazon, news news news (another addiction in its own right), and wild random surfing.

                  Hey beatle
What is it with the "news" cross addiction. I have it too - real bad. Sometimes I think I am even waiting for news to happen!

Boots - pass on any advice you have with the sugar addiction!! The L-Glut doesn't seem to touch my sugar cravings!!

BH & Beatle - I can relate to the "new" "internet" addiction. I think it's because deep within us we sense that the world is rapidly changing and we KNOW big things are going to happen. Now I'm getting "to deep" .... :H But I think it's true!!

Thanks Mimi ! Yest TODAY is the 6 month anniversary of quitting smoking!! Yippeeeeee! Congrats to you on the 3 months. It feels more like the "norm" after 3 months so hang in there. I can't believe I quit smoking and drinking at the same time (essentially - 1 month apart).. I must have been friggin NUTS!! But I did it!! Whew. I pray I never start either again -- mostly because I NEVER want to go through the awful mess of quitting again!!! :H

Now you can laugh! I am Day one of quitting my nasal spray!!!

                          (DUH?!??! you're going!)

I use it when I have a cold - which I had 6 months ago! And, I did this once before about ten years ago, if you don't stop after a week or two, the spray makes your nose 'kick back' by swelling the nasal passages back up to double their size after clearing briefly so you get all stuffed up again....so you take another spray...they clear...and then they stuff up worse..... Till you just have to stop for about a week to let them reduce naturally...which I have always been "going to do today - but heck, tomorrow'll do" .....for ages!!

But today was it....my nose is getting bu**ered up by this stuff and so......

                          I CAN'T BREEB!!!!

But, aren't I lucky to be only suffering a substance dependant nose (!?!?!) and not a dependant body!!??!!!

                          Just thought I'd tell everyone.................!!!!!!

Good luck to your proper ones! (Mean that!)

FMS - I have heard of that happening! It is really annoying to think that something that was suppose to help - hurts!! Good luck! Hopefully you will be breathing on your own soon!

                              News News News

I don't know what it is about the obsessive need to know everything that is happening in the world at every minute. Sometimes when I'm travelling (or more often sick in bed detoxing for 3 days), and don't get to follow the news, I don't miss it, and it takes very little time to catch up. Obviously it's just another indication of an addictive/obsessive personality. I don't think Rhonda treats that one, though.
