    Bio-identical hormones

Bump - Hey DG - I didn't know if you had kept this updated anywhere else on the site. I want to come back and re read this again - but wondered if you have an update now that some time has passed on the armour etc. --- I have felt certain for quite awhile now that I have these same issues ... and just haven't been able to find one DR. to address them all. I am really interested in this info and am excited to see where this "added piece of the puzzle" may help me continue to heal. I still feel symptomatic after 17 months AF and 6 months NICOTINE free. (I had an 8 month Nic free run in 08 and then fell off the NIC wagon and started smoking again last august. I quit FOR THE LAST TIME Dec. 8, 2008) but still feel generally like crap - so I know it's probably hormonal.

    Thanks for any updates!!

      Hey Liv!!

I myself joined the BHRT train this spring. I'm working with a local compounding pharmacist. I also have Adrenal fatigue issues--which pretty much everyone our age especially women do. He has me on supplements for that--which is kinda pointless right now because I am so friggen busy and stressed out I don't have time to take them (4 times a day) or even the AllOne. I do make time to smear the progesterone cream on daily and he will start me on DHEA soon, but it can affect the cortisol levels also...... I've only done this for 3 weeks now, but for me, no significant change.....
I do believe DG is feeling great with her current therapy however she is dealing with other health issues as well.
I hoe you can stick around awhile!!:h

Hi LVT!! Great to see you! I laughed when I read your post ... sounds like me! Can't remember to remember! hey ... congrats on the 1 year anniv. for quitting smoking! Awesome! I am at 6 months Nic free ... I started smoking again last fall for a short bit - --- HUGE MISTAKE ... but I'm "back" at the 6 months now. Boy it was harder than the first time. I don't want to keep kicking that habit ... it gets harder and harder ... so this is it ... no more playing with fire sticks for me!

        good to see you!

Hello ladies! Liv, sorry I didn't see your post here! Things are rolling along smoothly in the BHRT / Armour department. Thankfully my energy levels have stayed good with no change in Armour dose since we first settled into the dose I'm on now - probably 10 months ago?

The only bumps in the road I've had with the prog. and estrogen have been the medium it comes in. From the compounding pharmacy I use, the least expensive medium is drops. I started with the creams (way more expensive for some reason) because it is far easier to adjust the doseage and fine tune it. Once we got the doseage exactly right with the creams, I switched to the drops (it's an oil base). That worked fine until I reached my goal weight, then all of a sudden I was getting low prog symptoms again such as night sweats and a hot flash here and there, and difficulty sleeping, etc. At first I thought the dose needed to be upped. But the doc said she thought it might be an absorption issue since I now have less body fat beneath the surface of the skin to soak it up. So I'm back to the cream but at the same dose, and that's working fine again.

Life is good. I think I got lucky either with a doc that knows how to dose this stuff right the first time (we did have to make a few adjustments but not many) OR I'm lucky that my situation is not as complex to figure out as it is for some people. (likely)

Liv you might want to google for "Anti aging doctors" in your area if you haven't already done that. That seems to be the buzz word these days. Beware of shisters (sp). It seems that some doctors have jumped on the Suzanne Somers band wagon who take lots of $$ while delivering minimal service. Be picky.

Best wishes and keep us posted!

LVT it's good to get your update. I can't believe I didn't have adrenal fatique issues to complicate things, but I'm sure glad for that. Keep us posted!

I'm really hoping that some of the odd aches and pains that seem (and in some cases are) arthritic issues fade once I have this parathyroid (NOT THYROID) tumor removed. The symptoms are wide ranging but "bone pain" is one of them. A couple people I've talked to said they didn't realize how the calcium issue was affecting them until after surgery and then WOW when things return to normal. I really am feeling pretty good over all but if I end up with WOW I can't imagine what cloud I will be on!!!!!
