    kudzu?

    Hi!
I am new here and was wondering about the dosages of l-glut and kudzu that others are taking.

      kudzu?

      Marybel,
The kudzu dosage seems to vary widely. I got the Nature's Way kudzu from the local vitamin store and the reccomendation is 2 caps 3x per day. The caps are 613 mg each.
I got the Kudzu Rescue from th MWO site and the caps are 300mg, recommended dosage dosage is 1-3 caps 3x per day. Another member told me that he takes a 100mg cap 3x per day. I don't know the real answer but am going with the dosage recommended on the bottle. Those are huge differences!
I'm not sure about the l-glut, again the bottle should give you a recommendation.
I guess the best thing would be to check with your Dr.

        kudzu?

        Periwinkle,
It sounds like you and I are taking the same brand of Kudzu - Nature's way - you mentioned unpleasant side effects...what are they? Curious, because I haven't had any, at least that I can notice.
        Thanks,
        GMW

          kudzu?

:yukko: The first 2 days I had some unpleasant trips to the bathroom (I'll spare you the details)!

Haven't had a problem since. Maybe it was caused by something else, but the timing made me think it was the kudzu. I think I read that someone else might have mentioned something similar but I can't find the post.

            kudzu?

Well I will spare you the details, but I'm only glad I had this "side effect"!
            Other than that - nothing?
I really do think this stuff works, and this brand seems to be fine. If you find out differently, will you please let me know?
            Thanks so much!

              kudzu?

For me it took a month go figure out the deal.

And I don't think it's just the Kudzu.

              Here's what I think now.

Kudzu appears to mediate my serotonin system. Also, oddly, it keeps my stomach sane. I'm currently taking 6 pills a day. I find different brands claim vastly different contents. One brand is 1mg, and anothe brand is 1000mg. But the effect appears similar.

At 2 pills, 3 times a day, I no longer get drunk. One night, I was feeling pissy and drank enough to lay me flat on the floor, and still didn't blot out. Kudzu is somehow blocking the alcohol from doing the "blot" thing on my brain. I'm still learning to be accustom to that. I think it's ok though.

Sure I get drunk as in my muscles feel bad, and I would get arrested for driving. But you know what I mean. When you choose to go blotto, and then don't, that's a bit strange.

Today I went without L-Glut for a time. I ran out, and wanted to see what happened. What happened may be a coincidence, but I just didn't feel good. So I got some and I'm back.

So for me, Kudzu and L-Glut are a great combo. One mediates when I'm bad, but also balances when I'm AF. How perfect can you get. L-Glut also seems to be part of what is needed to make it work.

                kudzu?

When I first took kudzu for a day or two it definately helped then I just drank as before and after a few more days stopped taking it, thinking it did not work for me.

After a long break I tried it again, and same thing.

I now take it sporadically- i will usually take 2 x 300 mg in the morning then forget to take anymore.

I was just wondering if I should just take it 3 times a day although it does not seem to have any effect in the hope that it will strart to work after a week or so?

Has anyone else noticed it not working at first, then becoming more effective as time goes by if they stick with it regularly?

                  kudzu?

GMW, I haven't had the unpleasant "flushing" since the first 2 days. I have had no other apparent side affects from the kudzu since.

Like Boss.man, I don't seem to get the "buzz" from drinking like I do without the kudzu. This rather pissed be off one day so I went without my kudzu for a few days then drank several shots of whiskey because I wanted to make sure that I hadn't lost the ability to find the buzz forever. Wow, putting that in type makes me realize just how messed up my thinking can be regarding AL. By the way, I did find my buzz that day and felt horrible about myself afterward. So it was an experiment and a time of learning. I am back on the kudzu dosing of 2 pills 3x per day. I also take L-glut I just take what the bottle recommends.

Thank you Boss.man for the update on the scientific stuff.

PS GMW I took the pic of the goat a couple years ago when visiting Mt Rushmore. The baby goat stayed close to his mom but at one point climbed this little "mountain" and looked right at me as I took his portrait. As I was taking the pic I thought about the mountains we have to climb in life. I often think that I must conquer the "Mt Everest's" in my life when I have not yet even taken the short walk from the car to base camp. It is a reminder to me to congratulate myself for the "baby steps" I accomplish each day.

                    kudzu?

                    Marbella,
                    Our posts crossed.
For me the kudzu seemed to work immediately, I took it just as recommended on the bottle. I seem to be opposite of your experience as I am concerned about it loosing effectiveness over time. So I think at least part of the answer is that we are all different.

                      kudzu?

Hey Boss: The difference in the strengths of the Kudzu and LGlut available are confusing to me. I recently bought some at a local natural foods store. The LGluts are capsules and proclaim to be 1000mg and the Kudzu are tablets and claim 750mg, but contain a lot of other stuff such as Hovenia fruit, Bai Zhu Rhizome, Codonopsis Root, Ginger Root, and Cardomom ( and some other stuff--names to long to type). I'm just going by what the dosages on the bottles say. The Kudzu says two tablets twice daily and the LGlut says one once daily (I take it late in the afternoon to stave off cravings that might hit towards the cocktail hour). I guess it's a crap shoot, but I do agree they do seem to work in tandem, and I don't black out like I used to. I might fall asleep, but I remember what happened up to that point. That's pretty amazing for me. Today, though, is day 4 AF for me, and I feel good.

Being from the South, I'm so glad someone finally found a good use for Kudzu. People down here have hated that damned vine and have done everything we could for generations to get rid of it. We feed it to goats, make wreaths, baskets, and furniture out of it, and I've heard the Chinese even eat it. Who knew it could cure alcohol cravings, too? Amazing. Kay
